A440 Tuner is a simple app for musicians who prefer to tune by ear to a reference Concert A (440Hz). Choose between a recording of a real oboe or a synthesizer oboe. This app is not a meter or strobe or chromatic tuner - it simply produces the Concert A reference pitch. While this may seem limited from the viewpoint of one who needs to tune by meter, it fits the needs precisely for musicians who are trained to tune their instruments by ear from a reference pitch. The oboe was chosen for this app because in an orchestra setting it is typically the oboe that gives the reference pitch at the beginning of rehearsals and concerts.

What’s New

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon. Fixed breaks in the continuous oboe sound and removed the blank white screen at startup.

Didn’t work

I pressed both buttons in the app but there was no sound. I checked my volume and restarted the app—same results.

Needs update:

Used to be good - BUT: 1. Crashes on launch (iPhone SE, IOS 10.3.1) 2. Needs update for 64-bit before next IOS version. Please.

Love it!!

I used it to tune my violin at home- works just as well as an expensive tuner. Great for practicing at home or emergency tuning on the go.
