Assemble

4.4 • 2 Ratings
Assemble's synthesiser features four bandlimited oscillators, each with eight voices of polyphony, a 16x oversampled tempo-synchronised stereo delay effect, and a vibrato effect. The parameters of each oscillator and each audio effect can be modified easily in real-time. The synthesiser can be played by sequencing patterns of notes with Assemble's sequencer. Notes can be sequenced using a computer keyboard and mouse, or alternatively using Assemble's on-screen keyboard. A sequence can include as many as eight sixteen-step patterns, which can be played discretely in Pattern Mode or sequentially in Song Mode. Once a sequence is complete, it can be named and saved locally on your device. Assemble can record audio and generate video clips from recorded audio for sharing. Each video clip adapts to Assemble's visual theme and features one of two audio visualisations: a standard waveform plot, or a Lissajous figure.
What’s New
+ Oscillators can be muted by double-tapping the oscillator labels on either the main screen or the parameters screen. + Implemented UI and performance improvements.

Beware of the white noise bug! Feels like work in progress at best.
!!!! Very important! This app has a bug which makes the app make a white noise for about 10 seconds at full volume completely randomly! This can potentially ruin your sound system and even your hearing! This happens consistently on an iPad 2019 running iOS 13.6. I was really hoping that using it with a USB keyboard would make it faster to use but very little is gained by connecting it. Putting steps into the sequencer is at a level of some office machines from the 80’s, with arrow presses and necessity to look at the screen, not by feel, as you navigate through the grid. The synth parameters page has to be operated by touch, not by keyboard so why bother using keyboard anyway? This page is separate and one has to navigate away from the main interface view to change parameters. This is done by pressing and sliding the values. Not very responsive and easy to do. Sequencer grid is small and individual steps crammed (using it on iPad 2019), lots of space around it which feels like a waste. No vertical mode. The keyboard for putting notes is very small. Toggling between dark and bright mode (moon and sun icon) has an incredible amount of latency of almost 3 seconds! ***In response to the the developer’s reply: If the white noise is there on purpose, this makes want to give the app even less than a one star rating. There’s no warning of the noise. Do you don’t realize it can ruin a sound system or hearing? Show more
