    Very buggy
    I know this app is very heavily praised among Mac users who love chiptunes, but this app still has a lot of bugs that have been around since I first tried Audio Overload back in 2007. A lot of PSFs won't play on this, VGMs that use the YM2413 chip play on the left side only, GSFs often don't play correctly, and I have run into a lot of other issues that are specific to Audio Overload that just don't happen in other apps like Modizer and even Audacious on Linux. There is no way to sort the playlist either. I had better luck using Winamp ChipAmp on Porting Kit. Sorry, I wanted to like this, but I just can't with 15 year old bugs that never got fixed. I just don't get why this app receives so much praise. Show more

    Critical Review
    I'm happy to see this type of software on the App Store, but it's so basic that most users will move on immediately. No looping for SPC — the most popular game music format of all time! While it says it can loop VGMs, it can't loop VGZs. On a minor but inconvenient side note, it doesn't respond to normal Mac hotkeys either. I guess it's back to whipping the llama's, uh, bottom.     Still the best video game music player!
    For a while I’ve been using the original one from your site, when I heard you updated and put it on the App Store I just had to install it. Its even better than the original, with new added speed and pitch controls, glitches fixed, and backwards compatibility with older versions of Mac OS?! Now thats what I call quality! once again, thank you Richard Bannister! Show more

    A Must For All Chiptune Fans
    If you like music from classic video game consoles and computer hardware, this app is for you. It can faithfully reproduce audio from a large variety of different devices. While the interface is a little spartan, it is otherwise very functional. Support for more arcade hardware would be nice too, but at this price it's well worth a download. Recommended! Show more

    If You're Into Emulation Audio, Grab This App
    As a person who has been into emulation for a while, especially the music side, Audio Overload has been one of my top used apps. While there are formats I wish it could play (MultiPCM VGZ would be awesome), I can't knock it down a star for that. I'm liking the new interface and super glad its on the App store. If I had only one request, it would be more audio options such as tweaking how it handled Snes audio output. Eitherway, worth a download. Show more

    Video Game History
    I downloaded it to play some old AdLib Visual Composer ROL files from my youth and it works great, but it's so much more than that! It handled my Amiga MOD files without a hitch and it seems to cover any audio format from old video game systems. An invaluable tool to enjoy the original sounds of old video games on your modern Mac. Show more
