Cryptozoologic

Cryptozoologic is a collection of puzzling synths. A new instrument can seem like a puzzle, especially in the realm of modular electronic instruments. Cryptozoologic embraces this nature of synths and provides big and bizarre sounds once you figure out how to tease them out. With the initial release you get three synths: Shempscape (bytebeat shufflebox), Nessie (rungle synth) and the Irish Yeti (Euclidean polyrhythms). Playing hints are provided in-app. You can also go deeper at cryptozoologic.org, which guides you through the backend of each synth. Cryptozoologic is based on Fluxly technology, a musical physics looper where you create new instrument scenes by moving and spinning colorful Fluxum sound sample players. Cryptozoologic expands on Fluxly (fluxly.com), where the Fluxum controls can also be constrained as sliders, or act as inputs based on their on-screen coordinates. More synths will be added to the app in the near future and the price will change to reflect that. We won't be doing in-app purchases so get in on the ground floor and get the value of being an early adopter. Cryptozoologic can act as an Audiobus input.

    Brilliant fun. Noisy as heck.
My feature suggestions are pretty simple for each mode/machine: 1. Shempscape : Allow user to press anywhere on the background to “freeze” the current loop. This would allow a bit more performance. Maybe add another Fluxum to let the frozen loop continue to play so the user can continue “Shemping”. 2. Nessie: Pretty perfect as is. Maybe add a drone Fluxum that is outside the rungler to rungle over? 3. Irish Yeti: Add a way to make the lanes play different directions, pendulum, etc. Currently spinning the instrument Fluxum has no effect. Otherwise, Enjoying it! Rungle on. ??? Show more

    Gyroscope?
It would be great if there was an update that utilizes the gyroscope in the phone to give some “gravity” to the Fluxums. I love this app and it’s great to let them slow down and get some meditating ambient drones. Show more

    Fun app
Good for noodling and running across cool accidents. Turn on physics mode for full mayhem. Can’t wait to see/hear future additions. Only one problem - when using Bluetooth headphones, it crashes immediately after launch. Show more

    Unhinged Audio Exploration!
Immediately one can generate otherworldly mayhem with the (current) 3 synths here but the real fun is intuitively discovering the actual functions of onscreen components for more controlled chaos. Perfect blend of “what’s going on!?” and harnessing control while generating scapes of lightning-in-a-bottle audio output. Show more
