Evolver is a performance tool for creating multi-layered evolving sequences of sound. At its most basic think of evolver as a 4 lane sequencer which creates automatic accompaniment from notes and chords as you play on your MIDI keyboard, but it can also be used to create elastic evolving soundscapes where audio samples seamlessly merge into one another to create highly complex and original sounds. At the heart of evolver is a sophisticated wave synthesizer and sequencing engine which can create dramatic hard hitting transitions of sounds or merge sounds to create seamless transitions that evolve in time to the beat. It has 4 sequencer lanes which can run independently and mixed together using the real-time controls or over MIDI. When you play a chord on your MIDI keyboard for instance, each of the 4 sequencer lanes will take those MIDI notes and translate them into a musical sequence of sounds which are combined together and synced to create a form of automatic accompaniment. Evolver can load its own multi-layer patches or import them directly from Chameleon. These patches can be layered using the 4 sequencer lanes or split over a virtual keyboard. You can assign key zones, transpose them, assigned MIDI channels and velocity levels, set latch options etc. You can also load in your own one shot samples and lay them end on end to create evolving atmospheres or backing soundscapes. These samples can be looped or be free running with definable start/end and loop points using our non destructive editor. We also included a third sound source which lets you build sounds on the fly by overlaying harmonics to create anything from traditional sine, square, triangle, saw waves to complex detuned oscilators. These can be used in conjunction with multi-samples or one-shot-samples within the same sequencer lane. You can even randomize a complete sequence of harmonic sounds which when pieced together create some very unique and dynamic voices. Each sequencer lane can be up to 64 steps in length, each step has independent timing, pitch, volume, gate, probability, sample source etc. so the scope of what is achievable is vast. Each sequencer lane has its own ADSR, VCF and LFO which operates on all sounds within its lane, as well as being able to change the underlying settings for each sound source. Evolver also includes an ARP function which can be run in one of the default modes or you can define your own fingering patterns to be used to enhance your playing style. Create your own sequences, lay down your MIDI notes in your DAW and have Evolver automatically play along to your chord sequences, automatically locking to the host tempo. Sequencer events can be fixed or transposed allowing you to create percussive and drum backing using a single lane. Key Features: • 4 sequencer lanes • Up to 64 notes per sequence. • Each note can be fixed or transposed. • Timing and note probability. • 3 different sound source types (multi-sample, one-shot samples and harmonic) . • Add your own loops to a sequence. • Built in ARP function. • Import your own samples and mutli-sample patches. • Chameleon Support. • 5 different effect types (reverb, delay, phaser, flanger and chorus). • 8 band EQ. • .Latch Feature to hold chords/notes. • Create independent key zones with transposition and MIDI channels. • Paramter Automation from your DAW. • Control mixing and sequencer enable buttons using MIDI. • Built in Sampler. • Multiple Import options (including an experimental SFZ format). • iTunes and Files App importing of samples into the audio pool. • Files App Drag & Drop Support • Comprehensive Help pages included. Please Note: Not all features are currently compatible with Auria.

    I want to love it.
But notes get stuck and won’t stop playing. Using progressions with it but then it’s seems to find a midi note that never ends till you hit panic and then that note always plays when you try to play something else. Very noticeable on the default strings that load into AUM. I LOVE SO MUCH ABOUT THIS APP. But this bug makes it unusable at times. It seems to happen when other apps are sending chords, like chordbud2, and it happens when using other host, like sands or Audiobus. Show more

    Sequence timing issue
Timing of the sequences is unpredictable running as an AUM instrument tried about every permutation of reset lane, loop length etc. Sequence stopped triggering notes eventually. Almost like the probability features were implemented even though all probability was set to off. IPad air 2 14.4.2 Show more

    Strong and Hopefully Not Forgotten
I love the power of this app and how deep it can go. With all the features though it’s somewhat difficult to personalize due to the layout. If the app is still getting updates please add an indicator of name/number/or color of which lane you are on when you are further down the programming pages. Maybe even a small toggle indicator. This and reliable SFZ import would really give this thing wings for people who want to venture beyond presets! Show more

    Wow
It took me a little while begin to figure this app out, and I still have a ways to go. I think the manual suggests just loading up the presets (Performances) and letting ‘er rip, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing all weekend. The sounds it comes up with are fantastic, it’s really unique and a must for anyone with AUM. Show more

    My first experience
I do not see any use to this. I find 4 chords - just 4. Can you tell me why just 4? There is nothing here I understand. You should have had a nice song loaded to demonstrate this. I am losing patience fast. I hope day 2 goes better. Show more

Great update to an awesome app!
Stellar customer service from this developer: I had noted in my first review that the app was deep, flexible, and creative--but that it lacked a mode that allowed the musician to play Evolver like a true keyboard instrument. Less than a week later, the developer released this update with the free sync option! Now we get both an option to sync to the host tempo for latching perfectly synced sequences AND the free sync mode to play Evolver like a traditional keyboard Instrument. Simply an amazing value for the money. Just buy it already! Show more

    Perfect accompaniment app
Hi This app is very good for creating accompaniment styles, like yamaha , korg ,.. arrangement keyboards. With unlimited tracks in auv3 mode . But I haven’t found developer email address for reporting bug or request ; for example adding dots and triple to time section , or other request. I have many requests for this perfect app . Show more

    um ...wow...?
As a long-time Korg WaveStation EX owner and lover, who sold his beloved WS a long time ago, the obvious comparison here for me is indeed the WS. As much as I loved it, programming that beast was a tedious process and I sometimes got lost in the process of creating wave sequence patches and assembling them into a usable "performance" setting. Evolverfx is a giant leap forward audio/wave chain synthesis. But keep in mind that wave sequence synthesis is inherently more complex than more conventional and common subtractive synthesis. Even with its improved synthesis workflow, it take time to master this baby. Don't expect to be fully in charge in your first session. Evolverfx is as deep and even deeper in many ways than the WS and it is far easier to program. It is also much more flexible due to such things as separate timing and loop controls, etc. for each of the four "wave sequence "lanes". One can also easily import one's own audio files to place anywhere in any wave sequence. With these and other improvements the possibilities of wave-sequencing expand rapidly into significant new vistas of audio grooviness, which make Evolverfx more on the level of the newer Kong WaveState and it costs only a microscopic fraction (~ 1%) of the cost of a WaveState, even if you can find one. The audio quality of Evolverfx is as good as almost any software synthesizer out there. The only ones I know of that might have a more hi-fi sound is Moog's ModleD and LayR both of which are based on the subtractive synthesis model that is far easier to create in software. On my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9" I heard no aliasing from Evolverfx until I got up into the mid range of the 6th octave while playing a single lane with a phase-shifting wave. The only weak part I have discovered in Evolverfx is in the area of the audio effects. They sound good but they are fairly basic by today's standard and are too subtle for those who like to add cosmic levels of mutation to their finished sound. That is not really much of a problem given the huge library of AUv3 effects available today. Bottom line: stop reading this and BUY IT. Show more
