Figure makes it easy to create great-sounding music in seconds. Create an addictive beat before the barista brings your coffee or lay down a beefy bass line while waiting for the bus to arrive. Figure is intuitive enough for beginners to make music within seconds, yet deep enough for you to get lost in endless play on a transatlantic flight. Simply slide your finger across the play pad to record and tweak catchy drumbeats, memorable melodies and fat bass lines. Just bring your inspiration and Figure will help you take care of the rest. • App Store Hall of Fame Inductee • App Store Editor's Choice/App of the Week in many countries “Exceptionally simple to use, and you'll be making music in seconds.” – Music Radar “Exceedingly fun and easy to use… a deeply involved music-making experience.” – The Verge “Anyone can craft killer beats with this superbly designed music maker.” – App Store Editor’s Notes "Figure Music App Is Awesome, Easy to Use" – Wired "Makes powerful electronic music-making technology accessible to all." – The Guardian "Music-Making App Lets You Be The Artist" – NPR TOP FEATURES: • Sounding like a pro has never been this easy. • Explore the world of music-making with no experience required. • Create complete songs with drums, bass and lead melodies. • Compose and experiment by sliding your finger across the play pad. • Never play a bad note – Figure keeps you in key, and on the beat. • Add cool and exciting effects to your songs with easy XY-automation. • Tweak and manipulate your song on the fly. • Share your original creations to iTunes® library. Gold…. But
I assume it’s not supported anymore but to this day it’s still a favorite of mine. I have many DAWS and plugins but still come back to figure cos it’s so tactile. One major flaw is not being to export stems efficiently or even in higher fidelity. It’s heartbreaking cos we all make killer tunes on it but take any further than our phones. If this feature was implemented Figure could be placed on the must have iOS music apps list It’s still unmatched in workflow. Show more

    I used to feel empty…
I have spent countless nights laying awake, craving some form of purpose. My thoughts and consciousness consume me from the inside out, leaving me an empty corpse of meaningless prayer. All those nights I questioned what only the brave would dare to do, and found no answer just like those before me. This pondering lulled me into a deep haze where everything felt like nothing. I scoured internet, hoping for someone who could save me. But the truth was it was only myself who could save me from my own thoughts. Or was it… I recently downloaded this spectacular app called Figure. On those lonely nights I open Figure and let my mind carry itself away from depression, into the comfortable realm of sound. The looped beats drown my itchy wonders of meaning, and engulf my dehydrated body with beats as replenishing as water. No other app has supported me this way other than Figure. It’s simple interface and deliciously addicting instrumentals are the backbone of my current mindset. Without Figure my recently discovered positiveness is squandered completely, dragging me shamefully back to square one, a shape with only sorrow that fills myself. I thank you for everything you’ve helped me through, Figure, and I hope to see fresh, complex, and exciting updates in the future. I love you more that I myself can even comprehend Show more

    A few small things
I wish it was easier to export files, It would also be spiffy if the generated file names included not just the date but the tempo.

Oh no - what did they do to this app? ?
Holy crap... I've never seen an app start off being excellent and actually degrade, but that's my experience with Figure over the last few updates - bar syncing seems to have stopped working, UI real estate has been sacrificed for no good reason, and most maddeningly of all the whole 'social' tie in; look, I like to collaborate as much as the next musician, but tying the whole deal to a Facebook or "Allihoopa" login is automatically a red flag. Look devs... You can keep all the social bells and whistles, but as other reviewers have pointed out - how about a feature upgrade instead of tracking function upgrades for advertisers to try and sell you targeted ads based on your demographics? _____ Original review: Folks asking for more bars are missing the point I'm chuckling a little reading some of the reviews below because I can just see some OCD-addled teen wanting to compose their magnum opus in Figure because it's just *that much fun* to play and everything's all nice and quantized automatically, not to mention those thick ol' supersaturated/compressed drum sounds... Most people are gonna pick this up and immediately say "WHY, I COULD MAKE A WHOLE ALBUM IN THIS!" Then they see the 8 bar max and say, "BUT WHY CAN'T I MAKE MY 4 HOUR EPIC BANGER SYMPHONY?! JUST LET ME NOODLE ENDLESSLY AND CAPTURE IT ALLLL, PROPELLERHEADS!" (And then ask for mp3 exports because, you know, that's what the pros use right? ?) But seriously now: imagine how old it would get to hear a bunch of tunes from different people that all used only the same Figure sounds and patterns and nothing else? ? I think this app is best described as, among other things, a musical idea jumpstarter that's geared towards styles that are heavily rhythmic; if you're looking for a quick backing beat, Figure is your best friend. If you want to flesh it out a little further with a bass loop and an arp - boom, you have the kernel of a song to be developed further. Where? Wherever you like, be it a tape recorder, sampler, DAW... Just not within Figure itself. Figure dispenses the seeds; where you plant and how you cultivate them is up to you (although if you like the overall ease, simplicity, & sound of Figure then Propellerheads' Reason desktop software might be a good place to start.) That said, here's what I'd like to see; 1) user-imported sounds, at least the drum hits. I realize this may never happen though due to a desire to keep things clean (format support and file management issues would definitely hamper the workflow.) If that's not possible, then just adding more Tweak options for sound shaping would be nice. 2) The more I use Figure the more this becomes THE big deal: Export Options. The app really needs more granular mix and export options. One of the only things I ever complain about with the app is the inability to mute individual drum voices, which means that when I export the loop for use elsewhere, it's all in one fell swoop - kicks, hats, snares all on the same track. This is bad for eq and fx purposes to put it mildly. Drum channel stem exports are badly needed. It doesn't matter as much for the bass and keys because you can always just solo one of them to export cleanly (I like the fact that the sidechain prints, too.) if absolutely nothing else, then at least individual drum voice mute/solo would work. 3) MIDI out. Again, nothing overly complicated or fancy. Just the ability to use these Figure-generated patterns to drive other sounds elsewhere. ... With #2 above being my only real complaint, thanks to Propellerheads for this awesomely inspirational toy! :) Show more

    Account login needed?
This requires an account login to use. It didn’t when I used it years ago.

    Amazing
This is a perfect app for making pretty complex beats if you know how to use it. Can you maybe add a lead or bass inspired by Ray Volpe's sound design? Show more
