Handy Harp explains the complex mechanisms behind a concert harp through sounds and pictures, in an easy-to-use application where the design of harp pedals has been carefully recreated. Using the touch capabilities offered by the iPhone and iPad screen, you can manipulate these pedals easily, hear the changes of interval, and also watch the rotating discs prompting these changes. Furthermore, the application allows you to quickly display 45 chord types, 28 modes, and the associated pedal settings. It supports MIDI Wi-Fi, allowing you to transfer play data from your iPhone or iPad to a Digital Audio Workstation as well as pedal diagrams to softwares such as Sibelius and Finale. Handy Harp can be used in many different contexts: for those who want to understand the mechanisms of the harp, for harpists who want to write a pedal diagram on their sheet music, for composers and arrangers who want to try out different kinds of glissandi, and many other situations. Handy Harp is available not only in Japanese, but also in English and in French. Its goal is to provide an easy-to-use tool that will become the new best friend of harpists, composers of film music and orchestrators. This is the beginning of a new era for harp! [28 modes, 45 pre-recorded chords] 45 chords are pre-recorded (in twelve tones), for a total of 540 possibilities. 28 modes are also available (in twelve tones) for a total of 336 pedals tuning possibilities. It is possible to save up to 60 additional pedal settings. [Rule Types] You can select two different types of rules when displaying the scales and octaves: one that is commonly used by harpists, and the other based on the piano keyboard. [Irregular Tuning] Usually, each note on a harp is tuned in flat, but in order to support certain types of music, Handy Harp also features irregular tuning, thus allowing you to perform pieces of contemporary music. [Keyboard] In order to check the status of the harp pedals, and in addition to a concrete display, a piano keyboard shows the select notes (using letters). This allows you to easily check the tuning of the pedals. [MIDI Wi-Fi] By connecting your device to a computer through MIDI Wi-Fi, you can transfer your play data in MIDI format to a DAW and record them. This function will prove invaluable to composers and arrangers who lost a considerable amount of time recording each harp section. [Transfer your pedal diagram to a music notation software] You can transfer pedal diagrams to music notation softwares such as Sibelius and Finale.

    A must for orchestral composers
Hook your iPad to your daw and use this app to play glissandos on your sample library harp of choice.

Best Harp App EVER!!! MORE FEATURES
Thanks for making this beautiful Pedal Harp App! I’m not actually a Harpist, but this is a great start off for me! I would recommend a BETTER Harp Sound with ALL of the Flat Notes, Natural Notes, and Sharp Notes Samples instead of a Chromatically Sampled Harp for another Update on the Harp App PLEASE?!!! There should also be a section on how the Levers work on a Celtic Harp too! It would be nice to use it whenever I’m in a Symphonic orchestra that doesn’t have a Harp at all. There should be an option on using this App with a Midi Keyboard connected and added too, even use it with GarageBand!!! Show more

A lifesaver for home or on the road
I absolutely love this app. I am a lever harp player learning pedal harp, I don’t always have access to the pedal harp (I don’t have my own yet?I don’t have to be at the pedal harp to learn a great deal about how to set the pedals, as this app gives a very realistic graphic on how to engage the pedal settings. I can learn and memorize all the settings away from the harp and save time when at the harp. All of the keys, all of the modes are available to you with a few clicks, and you can see them as actual pedal settings or as pedal settings written into scores AND mapped on. Piano keyboard. Brilliant! This is absolutely a must for all harp players who can do a great deal when their harp isn’t available. Show more

    Great app, a little pricey
Great app for composers or anyone looking to learn more about how harps work. The library of chords and scales is great, this will definitely be a valuable tool for me. I'm giving four instead of five stars because the graphics are a little blurry on my iPad (not a huge issue) and because the price is a little steep for what you get. But great app! Show more

    Best sounding pocket sized harp
I love Detune apps, and handy harp is no exception. The one small issue is the desktop companion app is not working great for me. I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought this app, in fact I didn't even know there was a companion app at all. So I can't really complain about the app all things considered, but I would actually love handy harp talk to other iOS native protocols like InterApp audio, core midi, audiobus, audio copy ect. Any other mobile harp app I've used is vastly inferior as of yet when it comes to sound quality. I would love to see the remaining Detune apps using at least one standard audio protocol, even if it's as basic as core midi. iYM2151 is would be killer with core midi or audiobus, and I've yet to try DPC-100 but with InterApp audio or audiobus I would snatch it up in an instant. If your ok with sending your audio through lightning or 30 pin cable instead of what everyone has come to believe is the defacto standard, you will not be disappointed with this app. Keep in mind these guy have done a lot of work for Korg, Detune has some solid programming and produce extremely reliable apps. I'm ok with recording things the old fashion way once in a while, line to line, it's not about having all protocols met at all times with an app like this one for me. I've never had a crash or stop in audio with this app. Show more
