OVERVIEW Creating a small size cabinet was a challenge but keeping the sound pressure level of at least 130-137dB in the small lightweight cabinet called on our engineering expertise. In order to achieve maximum efficiency in a finite space, the new line array must have a guaranteed radiating area, which means the front of the cabinet should be large enough, so we turn to the size (depth) of the cabinet to make it small. The design of the HF section must keep as short as possible. In order to guarantee the efficiency, compression drivers must be used in order to have adequate medium and high frequency sound pressure level. For this purpose, we designed a planar waveguide with a very short path. For the HF section, we used two 44mm neodymium magnetic compression drivers, and achieved the sensitivity of 114dB SPL with the ultra-short waveguide. The power of each driver reaches 40W, and the peak maximum sound pressure level of the HF is 136dB SPL, high enough to meet the sound pressure demand of most events.
