Change your digital piano or synthesizer into an arranger keyboard with realtime auto-accompaniment. Or use your iOS device on its own as a realtime arranger and be creative while traveling Connect your iPad, iPhone or iPod to your keyboard instrument with the camera connection kit and an USB AB cable or a MIDI interface cable (depending on what your keyboard uses for MIDI). Then start One Man Band and select the Settings button. Choose the MIDI In and MIDI Out port to your keyboard and press Done. Now select the red Presets button and choose one of the style/voice combinations. When you play a chord on the leftside of your keyboard instrument, the accompaniment will start to play. You can play the melody on the right side of the keyboard, it will have harmonies and instrument layers depending on the chosen voice. Select different style variations (Main, Fill, Intro, Ending) while you play. Switch to different accompaniment styles and melody voices with the buttons on top. Press Record and set the switch on to record MIDI files. When you don't have a keyboard instrument (yet) or can't make the connection at the moment, then there are options to use the iPad/iPhone/iPod as an accompaniment instrument on its own. Select the soundfont player at Settings/Ports/MidiOut and use the virtual keyboard to play chords and melody. One Man Band utilises standard style files compatible with the styles used in Yamaha PSR, DGX and Tyros arranger keyboards. There are thousands of these styles available on the internet. When you copy a zip-file with styles to OMB (download, email, icloud), the styles will be placed in a new style folder with the same name as the zip-file. The panel with 56 buttons is customisable. You can assign a function, voice, preset, chord or note to each of the buttons (except for the button top left) and create submenus with again 56 buttons each. Create your own voices with harmonies and instrument layering. There is also a free version (One Man Band Lite) in the App Store.

    Style Copy Paste Problem
I bought this a few days ago and wanted to put some favorite styles in a new folder using the feature included within the app. You can make a new folder but you can’t copy or cut styles from a different folder and paste them into the new folder. This feature is described in the online help document but does not work. I’m using an iPad Air3 running iOS 14.6. I also tried this on my iPhone XR and same problem plus some other quirky actions and lockups. This is by far the best Arranger Keyboard app available however, it hasn’t been updated in 2 years! Please fix this problem and consider refreshing and bringing the app up to today’s standards. Thank You Show more

    Have an issue
I had a small question about the split point and left hand when using an external keyboard. In the help manual, it says that when creating a voice the left hand is muted by default. When I created a new voice, the right hand played throughout the whole keyboard, even though I set the split point in settings at B4. How can I unmute the left hand and have it play below the split point I set? Show more

    Great app, but....
Great app, however has a few limitations 1. You can only connect one midi controller at a time, that means you cannot use a separate midi foot pedal besides your primary device 2. Greatly would use some sort of midi sync function. Ableton Live would be awesome 3. Modernize the UI a bit. There is a midi guitar about to hit the market, ironically named OMB, and this app is the closest competition they have. To the developer, seize the moment and offer a compelling alternative to OMB app. There is monet to be made here. 4. Background operation Edit: scratch point 1. You can use one instrument and utilize different midi channels. This app is very very capable. I am extremely happy with it. Show more

Waited such a long time for this...
For the price, I wasn’t expecting so many bugs. Personal styles made on the psr-s950 either don’t play at all or have parts go silent after I press the fill in. Same when changing variations. I don’t know if problems can arise when user style parts are empty, and there is no way to tell if they’re empty, unlike on the psr series there would be a light on available style parts. I love making my own styles and wish this app had more functionality like a mixer and IAA/Audiobus support. This app has the potential to become a really really great full blown DAW that professionals as well as beginners would enjoy and love. You have my full support in your continued efforts at improving this amazing app. Show more

    Good, but needs important features
I have been a Windows OMB user for over 10 years now, And while it’s not the perfect piece of software, it fulfills a need that no other application comes close to. I have been waiting years now for this, or some other similar program to come to iOS, since I use the iOS music ecosystem for many of my musical creation needs. Now that it’s here finally, I am overjoyed, and have been playing with it quite a bit. It currently lacks though, some important functionality that has come to be expected with most iOS MIDI apps - namely, background operation (so you can operate it in the background with a midi keyboard - left hand - and use an onboard iOS instrument to play melody in the foreground - right hand) and IAA and/or Audiobus compatibility. Once these things are in place, I see this as being a very successful app. Until then, it will have limited use. But still way better than nothing! Show more
