    Not sure it’s all that.
I’m experiencing some crackling and pops whenever I’m trying to adjust the knobs. Also, the knobs seem to have some sort of delay in their response which I don’t dig. Some of the interface buttons are way too small and hard to press even when the window is maximized in AUM. Weird scaling when iPad is held vertically. Sonically, I don’t like any of the stereo effects in it, they still sound pretty narrow to me. The sound tends to be quite “dry” in its character, I’d say it is 180 from what the real tape introduces. Overall quite disappointed by this purchase. Show more

If this were a piece of hardware I would never sell it
I own many of these types of plugins and honestly they all do a great job of adding color, wow, flutter and of course, delay. Where this one stands out is that it is an actual emulation, a virtual tape deck in which you can touch the tape reel graphic and cause it to do all sorts of crazy effects. In addition, it is also a looper and a multi-effects processor containing some surprising effects I did not expect. It reminds me of my early days back in the 80s, grabbing a tape deck and experimenting with all sorts of sonic mayhem. And what makes it even more useful is that it all can be recorded and automated inside of Cubasis so that every small adjustment you make comes out in the final recording, or as a sample you can save inside the plugin. This is a tool that I will learn, master and use until it goes away somehow in the future. Show more

Great effect, but UI is too heavy
I got pre-latest iPad Pro (2018 10.5 model), and when loading (opening the UI instance) the plugin is giving too many cracking noises to be able to adjust the parameters. If you close the UI (having plugin still active) the cracklings go away. But, this makes the plugin unusable. This happens under very minimal load, so I think the UI has either a bug of some sort. Tried it in Beatmaker 3, Cubasis, ApeMatrix and AUM. If it works - clear 5 star effect. As a possible fix, maybe remove that (beautiful looking) tape thingy or toggle it on/off in settings? If you make a “compact” (as in not full screen) version with just the knobs, I’m pretty sure that would fix this problem. Because the RE-1 itself running in background (without the active window) doesn’t eat up more CPU than other comparable plugins. That said, for those considering buying this plugin, if you’re someone who doesn’t mind freezing tracks or uses a handful of apps/fx, this app is very good in terms of actual fx and sound quality. One of the best tape delays I’ve tried, in fact. So in that case I do recommend it to you. The 1-star is for people like myself who like to use several plugins in their projects, and for that it’s very heavy so I stopped using it. Show more

    Lost in the dub
I never owned a Roland space echo so I don’t know if this does a pure recreation, I imagine not, but I was able to get some shabby dub chords drifting around and cascading like I wanted, and nothing else I tried on iOS could quite do that. I did not have problems with crackles or freezes and I am on an iPad mini, not a pro. I did not quite figure out the looper yet but overall this unit is deep to explore and takes me into uncharted territory. Great for sound design and experimentation. My favorite by far though is the FD-1, which Apple won’t let me review for some reason. That thing is one of the most inspiring tools I’ve ever used, I am just thrilled with it. Get them all guys, they are multieffects integrated in a way that is more than the some of their parts. Fantastic. Show more

    Presets don’t work
This isn’t the first app I’ve gotten from numerical audio with issues with preset saving. If you save a preset it doesn’t load correctly (sometimes it won’t load, sometimes it will load with audio only on one side, sometimes the AU just crashes). I’d email them about the issue, but last time I did I got no response and the issue was never fixed, so why bother. I downloaded this hoping it would be less buggy than Enso... but apparently not. It’s a shame, because it sounds real nice otherwise. Show more

    Fantastic
Great recreation of a still coveted classic, the Roland Space Echo. Hope the dev will consider doing other classics like EHx Memory Man, Maestro Echoplex EP3, Eventide H3000 (Vai presets please!!) LOVE THIS GEM!!! Show more
