I was bored with Pandora. I was tired of Apple Music and Spotify. So I built Rebelation. Hi! My name is Andrei Volgin. I’ve been enjoying Rebelation for three years, and now I want you to try it. What makes Rebelation different? 1. Super Clean & Simple User Interface Try it, you’ll see. 2. Deep Personalization Other services put you in a box (e.g. “classic rock”) from which you never escape. Their idea of personalization is recommending more of the same. I invented a new collaborative filtering algorithm that overcomes the limitations of matrix transformations. This means that at Rebelation we treat you as a unique human being. We see personalization as a journey. Sometimes you want to further explore what you already know. Sometimes you want to venture out. In either case, Rebelation is your knowledgeable guide. Every time you create a station, favorite an artist, upvote or downvote a recording, our recommendation engine gets to know you better. Give it a little time, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Every day. 3. Zero-Effort Music Discovery Discovering new music should not feel like work. On Rebelation you move the adventure slider between “predictable”, if you want to hear more of your favorites, and “surprising”, if you are in a mood for something new. That’s it. I found more amazing artists in 1 year on Rebelation than in 30 years before it. I’ve even discovered new genres, like Electro Swing, Nu Jazz, and Symphonic Metal. What will you discover? WARNING: Discovering new music with no effort can be addictive! 4. Play Me Sometimes I know exactly what I want: a Pink Martini station. More often, I don’t have the time or desire to figure out what to listen to next. So I hit Play Me - an endless mix of music I already love and music I might enjoy, created just for me. Never repetitive, never stale. It’s like having your own personal radio station, but even better. 5. Play Friends Hanging out with friends and can’t decide whose music to play? On Rebelation, that’s no problem. Go to Play Friends, select your friends and yourself, and press Play. You’ll get a smart mix of everyone’s favorites. 6. Unique Stations In addition to Play Me, Play Friends and as many custom stations as you want to create, we’ve added a few others you might like. Hot & New plays what's hot and new :) However, we are not talking Top 40. It’s way smarter than that. Try Club Experience if you want to feel like you’re in a club or lounge. Relax/Meditate offers options from new age to sounds of nature. All of these stations have an option to personalize your experience, and you can hide any you don’t use. 7. Smart Favorites & Upvotes Rebelation plays the entire catalogs of your favorite artists - from hits to deep cuts. I love Eric Clapton and Leonard Cohen, but over the years I forgot how many great songs they have that don’t make it to most playlists. Rebelation helped me rediscover their music. On Rebelation you can give 1, 2, or 3 upvotes when you like a recording. The more upvotes, the more frequently you’ll hear it. Also, your recent upvotes play more frequently than older ones. There is some serious brain science behind what we do to optimize your listening experience. It’s all about pattern recognition, emotional processing and dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens. But all you need to do is listen! 8. Preloads You can preload music for those situations when you’re offline or have a spotty connection. 9. Nobody Tells You What To Listen To On Rebelation there are no curators. On Rebelation everyone is a curator. Every time you upvote a recording or favorite an artist you improve the experience not just for yourself, but for everyone else too. The beauty of music and math, woven together. I’ve been building Rebelation for three years now. Honestly, I’m a bit nervous to let my baby out in the world. But it’s time. Try it. Let me know what you think. Read our Terms of Service at https://www.rebelation.com/terms.

    Intriguing
I was intrigued by the technology used by Rebelation, but wondered: how can it better my music life? Well, my favorite radio station is The Bridge on SiriusXM. I like many of the songs but I suffer through the ones I don’t like and cannot delete them. My favorite songs are on Spotify, but what I have is what I get - no exposure to current music or old music I missed. Rebelation solves these deficiencies. I get lots of recommended music that I enjoy, and I can skip the songs I don’t like or even downvote them and never hear them again. Plus, with Rebelation’s adventure slider, I can control how much recommended music I want mixed in. So, to answer my own question, Rebelation has improved my music life. I have much more control over my listening compared to Sirius and I get the exposure to new music that I’m not getting on Spotify. Also, I used Contact Us to ask about some foreign artists I like and if they could add more songs that I wanted in a foreign language. Not only did I get a quick response, but they actually added music based on my request. How often does that happen with customer service?! Great technology! You should definitely try it out! Streamings next generation!
Rebelation takes streaming to the next generation. Rebelation lets me easily choose for things like more or less variety, based on my music taste. So I’m not listening to the same tracks again and again (unless I want that!). So much more here and it’s so easy to use. Show more

You have to try it to believe it
Full disclosure: I built Rebelation, but I try to be objective here :) Pros: 1. Fun. I spent over 5,000 hours on Rebelation, and I can promise you: it never gets boring. I am up to 154 favorite artists and 653 upvotes recordings, and I still discover amazing artists every day just by listening. No searching, browsing new releases, trying new playlists. 2. Easy, like in, hit Play Me > Workout, done! Pro tip: if you are preparing for a marathon, or just need some extra motivation, move the adventure slider towards surprising. It will take your mind away from all these thoughts about why you are torturing yourself. I spent 30 years managing my playlists. In takes time to get used to Rebelation, but once it learns about you, you find it hard to go back to any other platform. After Rebelation other platforms feel like work. Or boring. Or both. 3. No clutter. Rebelation vs Apple Music/Spotify is like Google vs Yahoo, if you are old enough to remember Yahoo. Or like iPhone vs Microsoft Word (I know, it’s a weird comparison, but rather accurate). For some reason other services think that you absolutely need to know about concerts that you cannot go to, browse albums by artists you never heard of, scroll through genres you never listen to, and find out which song is #49 this week. I did not build these features not because I did not have time, but because I wanted to make Rebelation as easy to use as possible. Send me a message through the app if you think I missed something. Cons: You can’t play individual songs or albums (because of licensing restrictions). So if you want to play that break up song 72 times on repeat, you may be disappointed. (Pro tip: If you feel like crying, try Play Me > Sad. Works every time.) If you like to be in control of your music collection, start by using Rebelation as your music discovery tool, and keep your Apple Music/Spotify account. I listen to Rebelation 6-8 hours each day, and I never miss the services I used before. My wife listens only in a car, only Play Me, and never changes any settings. My cat does not care. Your case may be different. One month free trial is more than enough time to decide if Rebelation works for you. Just make sure you give it a fair chance - add more than a few favorite artists or spend at least 20 hours listening and upvoting/downvoting songs. P.S. I told you: a very objective review :) Show more

    Soul reading
When they say the eyes are the gateway to the soul, they lied. Music is. Rebelation is the key to that gateway. When I say download it, I mean it. You won’t regret it. Show more
