SpeakLine lets your Mac talk to you! Write some text, select a voice and your Mac reads it out loud. Enjoy your words with funny voices or read texts in native languages. FEATURES: • import TXT or RTF files • export your texts as an AIFF audio or TXT file • select between multiple system voices in different languages • change the speed of the reading • customize the UI with the Dark Mode or select from one of the fonts • install more system voices via the System Preferences *SpeakLine uses the preinstalled Apple System Voices.     Excellent app!
    I was looking for a quick way to turn several pages of text into an audio file. I was expecting to need to "play" all of the pages to create the audio file but SpeakLine does this conversion directly and quickly. Show more

    Great tool but needs a click to speak
    This is as good as any text to speak--and they are not a lot devoted to this. I have Bulbar ALS and can't speak so the ease of typing and volume and accent/voice controls are very good. It would be perfect if I could stroke a key to speak what was written and have it automatically erase (with a repeat button if people didn't hear) because 90% of the time I am not repeating myself. Instead, I have to use my mouse to play and manually delete each sentenece so as to not repeat it. Show more

    Great simple app to read to you or make AIFF files
    Does exactly what it says it does. Just what you'd expect froma Mac app: clean, simple, functional. Great for accessibility: provide your content as an audio file in a Mac voice. I use the Ava high-quality voice which is one of the optional macOS downloads; these enhanced voices take up more storage but make many of the voices sound better. Show more

    Not Great and Voices are Terrible
    Here's the biggest issue: If you hit "pause," hitting play to start again does not work. You must hit, "stop" and begin from the beginning of your document. Sorry, but that's not acceptable. I also noticed someone else posted the same problem...THREE YEARS AGO. FIX THE PROBLEM! Show more

    Doesn’t work right 4 me
    I can’t switch voices and the one that seems to be the default is a shrieky mess. I’m on a macbook pro with high sierra. Tried several times, even hitting the “restore default” feature and reselecting a voice. Nothing works. Waste of time. I wanted the added voices not available on my Mac’s voice list but on high sierra I guess I’ll have to stick with Apple’s built-in Speech tool. This app wouldn’t even load the voices already on my computer. I’m happy it works for others. Show more
