Tabular is a rich tablature editor for macOS and iPadOS that lets you read and write music for guitar, bass, drums and much more. It's the best way to learn new songs, write your own music, and run through practice exercises for nearly any kind of stringed instrument or drum kit. All of your music is neatly organized and managed for you in the app's integrated document library. You can choose to store your library in iCloud to sync to other Macs or the iPad companion app. Practice tools allow you to master challenging songs and improve your technique by letting you start off slow and gradually increase the speed after each loop. Features: • Write music using tablature notation for nearly any stringed instrument • A companion iPad app that stays in sync with iCloud • Use one of the built-in instruments, or configure a custom one • Full support for percussion tablature • Multitrack scores • MIDI playback with a variety of different instrument sounds • Adjustable playback speed for practicing • Configurable practice tools that can increase playback speed after each loop • Large selection of notations including legato, vibrato, bends, slides, and grace notes • Built-in document library integrated with the Files app to give you direct access to your data • Visual fretboard lets you see where each note is played • Document templates to quickly create new songs using your most common instrument configurations • Built-in interactive tutorial • Import from Guitar Pro 3/4/5 or MIDI file formats • Export to MIDI or plain text (ASCII) formats • Printing support • No sketchy analytics or hidden data harvesting Feel free to contact us on our support page at http://chromaticlabs.com/tabular/support if you have any issues or feedback, and if you get a chance, leaving a quick review in the App Store would be very much appreciated! Thanks :)
What’s New
This is a small update that fixes an issue that could cause the metronome to play incorrectly. Previously in version 2.6: Hi! This is a big update that I'm very excited to share with you all. The entire app has been polished up and now feels much more at home on modern versions of macOS. This includes a refreshed design and new app icon as well as updated functionality and integration with system features. Tabular now supports standard windowing behavior including multiple windows and standard macOS tabs. At the same time, each window now has a navigation history, making it much easier to move around the app within a single window if that's your preferred workflow. The library has been cleaned up and given some significant enhancements as well. Artists and albums are listed in the sidebar for easy filtering, and you can now sort the document list by title, artist, or when the document was last updated. Documents can now be favorited, and you can view your list of favorite documents via the sidebar. There are a whole bunch of smaller improvements as well: • You can now export multiple files at once from the library • The sidebar can now be hidden • Added commands for deleting notes while moving backward or forward • When moving measures, you can now choose to move across all tracks or just the current track • The main menu has been restructured and cleaned up • Context menus have been added and enhanced throughout the app • Added keyboard shortcuts for muting and soloing tracks • Added a setting for displaying measure numbers in the score • Improved performance when printing large documents • Too many bug fixes and other small improvements to mention I apologize for the slow release cadence — I really wish I could get these updates out to you all faster, but I hope the wait was worth it! This one took a particularly long time since it required lots of changes in every corner of the app. The next one won't take so long! Stay healthy and safe, and as always, feel free to reach out through our support page or on Twitter with any feedback, questions, or suggestions! — Jarod

    No Longer Works
Are you still working on this app, or did I waste money?

Crashing, but... I have faith in this developer to make things right
I've been using this app for many years and I've been extremely impressed with the developer. (No, I don't know him outside of being his customer.) So I'm only knocking off one star for now. I'm confident that the crashing is a temporary problem that will be fixed in this (otherwise) amazing app. Show more

Updates have not kept up with operating system changes
This used to work very well, and now with operating system updates, it no longer seems to work properly. Very surprising that they still get away with charging so much for something that doesn't work reliably anymore Show more

Great design, but crashes unexpectedly and is riddled with bugs
This app could be a game changer for me. Unfortunately, it crashes every time I use it and is really buggy. I really wish they’d fix the underlying issues as it’s so much easier than editing tab and composing in Logic Pro. Show more

    FIx the bugs
I love this app. It is the simpliest and best tabbing software I’ve ever used, with very quick and easy keyboard shortcuts. However, it randomly shuts down. It’s so good I use it even with that and just save my file often. If they fixed the glitches it would be perfect. Show more

    Waste of money
Why is the App store hosting products that are no longer being developed like Tabular? I was robbed of $30 for something that does not work.

    Annoying
I only got this because Finale was too confusing. This is simple enough, but it tends to crash. It offers to save to the Cloud, but that doesn’t work. Export to pdf results in files that lead to errors when imported into other programs. Adding chords is a pain; you have to uncheck default preferences on every single chord. Preferences are lame and offer no respite from the annoyances. Nearly everything about it is ill conceived. It was way too expensive for the little it offers. I hear that the mobile version is better. It couldn’t be worse, I’ll tell you that. I feel ripped off. Show more
