Just not very good at all.
This app is really quite bad. How bad? I basically never review or rate apps, but this one has me making this exception. Leaving personal preferences around user interface, etc. aside, the app is just buggy as anything. How so? It doesn’t open about every third time you start it, just loading a blank screen. The metronome (which you don’t have the world’s easiest time setting on the FP-30X due to lack of display on the unit, and as a result is sold as an essential feature of using this app) does not hold the tempo you set for it once you leave the app, or put the app in the background OR (particularly strange) play output via headphones even when you have phones plugged into the unit. It’s not clear how to use the app to play demo tunes on the piano, and sometimes it just causes the piano to play a single, sustained, tone until you kill the app. Roland has lovely digital pianos. It is a shame that their app game is so much less awesome than their physical products. I would do a total rebuild on this thing as it feels like a lot of the bugs are pretty deep in the code of the app to me (but what do I know?), and I’d wager a lot of updates that don’t really fundamentally address the issues will feel like pretty klugey patches to duct tape issues. Connecting to Bluetooth
I struggled trying to get the piano to show up on the app as an available instrument. For iOS users, go to your settings and scroll to the apps. Select the piano every day app and MAKE SURE THE BLUETOOTH SETTING IS ON!!! You would think that you would be prompted to grant Bluetooth access to the app while trying to connect to your device via Bluetooth. Your piano should show up as an available instrument once you return to the app and scan again. Show more

    Really disappointing app
I love the idea behind this app. Unfortunately, the execution is really poor. Roland should really invest more effort in the user experience, testing with users, and refining the experience.

    RCP800
I don’t have a connectivity problem, but because none of the scales are pre-downloaded with the RCP800 (Costco Roland Version, USA), the app is pretty useless for me. I can’t take advantage of the practice time because there are no scales associated. I can’t use the pedal as a page turner. If I knew all this, even after contacting Roland in regards to the Costco version having the same capabilities and downloads as the regular versions of the pianos, I would not have gotten the Costco version. Shame on Roland for not having the accurate specs. 2/4/22. Roland claimed that this app was going to receive a “huge” update before the end of the year 2021. That never happened. Show more

    Can’t access scores
Claims to have 377 scores, of which you can access 20. My best guess is that if you play twinkle twinkle little star for a week, maybe it will let you see another score? Ridiculous. The scores were supposed to come with the keyboard and I should be able to access the advanced scores without jumping through ridiculous hoops. I can’t even easily find a complete list of scores to see if it’s even worth the effort. Show more

    When It Works It’s Great
The app is very useful for me to select and play voices, especially in the split and dual mode. The rhythm and wide range of adjustments are easy to use. The reason I rate this app 2 stars instead of 5 is that I have to remove and delete the app and then reinstall every few days. For some reason it is not stable and quits working after a day or two. This has been a long-standing problem for me. Show more

    Fixed
The most recent update fixed the crash on iOS 15.1, and now things seem to work well.

    Doesn’t work with iOS 15.1
Just updated my iPhone and the app doesn’t work anymore… just a blank screen when you launch it. Uninstall reinstall doesn’t work either

    Please update for iOS 15
After updating to iOS 15 the app no longer works. The app itself was alright beforehand. It wasn’t anything special, but it worked for changing my piano’s sounds and that’s all I needed it for. Now it just gives a black screen. Hoping it gets fixed soon. Show more

    Horrible First Impression
After being super-impressed with the Roland digital piano and accompanying app in-store we decided to purchase one on November 13th, 2021. Imagine my disappointment after we got the piano put together and I tried to use the Piano Every Day app for the first time only to be greeted with a black screen. After reading other reviews it seems this is an issue for the app on iOS 15. With the investment we’ve made in our pianos all I can say is what a terrible way to treat your customers. As a professional software developer all I can say is this is inexcusable when you have early access to iOS updates specifically to test your apps for updates. We think the piano itself is great I just hope Roland can bring the app experience up to par very soon. Show more

    Doesn’t load on iOS 15.1
I was looking forward to this for my new RP701 piano, but It simply loads a blank bue screen on iPhone 10Max running 15.1. Guys, your hardware is awesome, how can your app software be so far behind? Please step up. Show more

APP DESPERATELY NEEDS TO BE FIXED
App does not open whatsoever after updating to IOS15. Staring at a black screen and not being able to adjust the piano settings is really frustrating!!

My app no longer opens. The screen just goes black and nothing will load. Love that my piano HAS to use this app when the app is so broken!

    Useless
This is absolutely useless… the drums with fill ins play different notes than what you’re playing or it lags behind! Can’t use it at all!

    Slider Button Issues
On any device I use, when I attempt to use the plus or minus sign to increase or decrease the setting, for example volume, when I click it to where I want it and stop, it just keeps going in that direction. Same issue on 3 separate Apple devices, please fix. Show more

    Horrible but can’t do without
The app is absolutely horrible. It is difficult to use and 1000 miles away from an intuitive interface but there is no other choice to change the majority of functions on the piano. It reduces the value of a good piano. Attention developers this needs to be redone!!!!! Show more

    Could be so much better
I love my Roland piano, so much so that I can tolerate this lackluster app (and the Piano Designer app), but it has some major quirks that make it clunky and downright annoying to use: Firstly - just use a different metronome. The one on the app, while technically functional, is no good. I actually encountered a strange bug, where I accidentally pressed the “keyboard and tones” button instead of the start/stop button, then it started continually dropping the tempo to minimum, as if a ghost was pulling the slider. No matter how many times a reset it, it kept going down to 10bpm. I had to restart the app to get it to stop, but I’ve given up on it, and am simply using a different metronome going forward. The layout of the UI is simply bad. It’s clunky and unintuitive. I wish the app was a simple controller for the piano, but they’ve added in all this extra useless stuff that no one will use, making the UI crowded with useless icons. The app itself is slow, full of loading bars and waiting for connection and so on. It just needs a good programmer to go in and fix all the sluggish and clunky problems. All the other functionality is fine; changing the settings is not so hard, choosing sounds works. Show more
