It takes a lot for me to go out of my way to write a positive review, but after trying to do this work manually with freeware, this purchase was well worth it. I only wish it had better integrations to submit track information back to Musicbrainz and the GNU CDDB library so we can help contribute to the hard work everyone does to organize our books' metadata. That would make the tool 10x better, as the only hard part is looking up and fixing missing information. Show more

I've been using this app for several years, mostly to combine sections of freebie audiobooks from LibriVox. It works beautifully. I think the UI is intuitive and simple, but the app has enough options for customizing if you want to. I also *really* like that the developers don't collect any data and that they continue to update it. Thank you to the development team! Show more

this is super useful for combining a bunch of mp3 files in folders i had of audiobooks that i can easily just then add to my books app. my only qualm is that i wish i could keep long books in a single file without degrading below the normal quality. if they raised the 18 hour limit for the normal option, that would be amazing, but i'm not a tech savy gal so there might be a specific reason why they can't. overall, though, def rec and it's really useful. When binding existing MP3 files together the process is slow, even using the internal drive of an M1 Mac. That should be blazing fast. When you drag and drop the MP3 files, it recognizes in the info tags in the MP3 but doesn't populate the Title and Author fields from the the Tags. You have to type that in manually. Finally it seems to lack a field for the narrator. Show more

This app does exactly what it should do, and flawlessly. This isn't the complicated iTunes nonsense we used to do. There aren't any instructions needed — just rip the adiobook cd's and make it into a m4b file all in one app, in a seamless order. Awesome! Show more

Building audiobook files from books on CD is even easier than expected with this app. After starting the process using an external, USB CD player, the app ejects each CD when it's ready for the next one. The user doesn't even have to go back to the app to start with the next CD in the set, since simply inserting the next disc will start the ripping process. This is perfect for doing other tasks while using this app. Thank you! Show more

I have been using Audiobook Builder for years. It is very simple and straightforward. I buy audiobook CDs and burn them to my computer, and combine them into 1 file. It makes organizing my library so simple, compared to hundreds of 2-10 minute audio files. It is a must have program for me. Show more

My iPod brought me to the Mac, and this peace of software. I used this to build my audio books from the first inception of the software and I continue to use it to this day. This program has been a sterling find after years of Apple downgrades to its iTunes/Music program making audiobook downloads harder. What used to be a frustrating 5 step process is condensed into 1 step with nice CD insertion reminders and chapter titles. This has been a wonderful find and I highly recommend it. I have one small quibble. On just one very long download (Troubled Blood - Robert Galbraith 26 CDs) I inadvertantly skipped a CD. Now, Audiobook builder mostly idiot proofs this process but I managed to find a way to skip a CD because the download process was so long. The problem was that there was no way to preview a CD to find which one was missing. If the developers could find a way to improved this program, I would recommend adding a preview so that boneheads who happen to circumvent their nice controls can recover. Show more

excellent app. i like the batch name convention and edit controls; but the couple things it lacks are having a "trim" feature like in Quicktime, and having transport control with fast forward or with a time line. even having a trim function with waveform and a time counter would be a wonderful feature. So much easier to convert Audio CDs and Audio MP3 CDs into Audiobook format. Worth more than the $10. It saved me a lot of money, compared to rebuying Apple or Audible audiobooks. Show more

I have always loved reading. As a working wife, housewife and mother I seldom have time. Being able to download a book and listen to it as I clean house or do yard work allows me to keep up with the best of the best. It keeps my mind occupied when the task only requires my hands. Show more

I want to love this app. But I've been burned several times recently by some audiobooks which have a few chapters dropped in the file built from Audiobook Builder 2. Using the app, everthing appears to succeed. I have a new audiobook built and added to Books.app/iPhone. It starts playing like normal. But some chapters/files/sections in that audiobook end up with a zero length. This makes the player skip them immediately and content is dropped from the audiobook. I only notice the corrupted content when I realize I have no idea what is happening in the book (because content was dropped). Audiobook Builder 2 never warns about formats or about the missing content in the final version. The original files play fine on macOS. I would guess their encoding is slightly different. But there is no warning and no way to discover corrupted content in the output until you're hours into a book and realize sections are missing. It means I can't trust this app to build a a book correctly. :-/ Show more

I had an audiobook i ripped from my cds. I couldnt get Books to treat it as a single book. Read the MacWorld review, installed the app, skipped the intro, figured out the app from the intuitive interface, and within 3 minutes my audiobook was being built. 5 Mins later, my book was in Books as a single file. Great App! Show more
