GarageBand keeps switching to my HDMI monitor audio every time the computer comes out of sleep. I bought this app to keep that from happening but it didn't help. Wrote the app developers who said there was nothing they could do. Leaving this review so others don't waste their time. It's a GarageBand problem that Apple needs to fix. Show more

Need a menubar audio switcher? Get this one. Works great on my M1 Mac Studio!

This app used to be free, now you're paying $5 for it. Then to top it off, they changed from the fantastic easy to identify, tiny, headphone icon, to a larger more cumbersom and difficult to spot speaker and mic icon. So it takes up twice as much bar space as it needs to, or just about any other utility item up there. Seriously, if they are going to start charging you, at least they can do is not degrade the quality of the app. Show more

I should have gotten this app a long time ago. I use a MacBook Pro and have three different work environments, each with varying displays with built-in speakers that I plug into several times a day. It can be tiresome to remember to switch things and jump into settings when all I desire is to keep audio going through my MBP only or through my BlueTooth earpiece when plugged in. After downloading and opening I had a problem with output. I restarted and nnow it works just fine. I am using a Yetit microphone for voice overs in Final Cut Pro (just beginning) and after the reboot the voice over is performing just fine and playing back through the LG monitor speakers. The app saves a lot of headaches having to reopen the sound panel after each recording session and am happy with the cost. Well done... Did I mention it works with the new M1 chip... Show more

Nothing happens

My laptop is used in a variety of situations; but one thing used to be constant... Whenever a call came in, or I needed to jump on a video conference, I'd always have to check my audio settings. This app has solved all of it! No more wondering if my bluetooth earbuds will jump in when I've got my USB mic plugged in. I can airplay my screen to a nearby monitor and continue listening to the call without the TV taking over the audio. I love this app! Show more

Have a Samsung monitor that continues to hijack the sound on my MacBook Pro. Purchased Audio Profile Manager after seeing it advertised on a message board for this problem. **This applicatoin does NOT work.** Show more

I've been using a big screen TV as a 2nd display and was getting annoyed at my audio switching to it whenever I extended my display. Audio Profile Manager to the rescue! It took me a few minutes to realize (1) it quietly installs into the menu bar so it's easy to think it didn't work the first time you run it and (2) you lock in your setting using the menu bar to select the devices you want locked _after_ you have your devices connected. This needs to be repeated for any combination of devices, but once done for any given combination, it is remembered from then on. I had a small problem with Big Sur when I first installed it, emailed the developer, and the problem was fixed. Very kind & responsive developer. So, 5 stars both for the app AND for its author(s)! Bought this app just for the pinning feature and it works as Intended. Pinned the input/output devices and apparently you don't even need to start the app at boot. Start once, set the input/outputs and you're good to go. Great! Show more

This has several capabilities that the Sound control panel does not. Plus you see input and output devices at the same time from menu bar, easier to switch both. Within "About", it's got pretty good heal, also a diagnostics panel that shows what is connected. All good stuff. I can't get headset microphone to work though CalDigit hub, will contact customer support about that. Show more

I like the idea and unfortunately a tool like this is very needed for Macs right now. But the tool crashed several times on day 1, leaving me without a microphone and speakers during a conference call. The program crashes shortly after every attempt to re-open the app. Show more

Would love to give it higher rating, but the app keeps shutting down unexpectedly on my MacBook Air 2018.

While I have been charged and the App Store says it will work on my Mac Pro, the APP does NOTHING when opened. I'll try to get my money back, but so far I will consider this a scam. Show more

We were having a ton of problems with apps like Zoom, where it would keep switching between sound devices like tvs, projectors, external monitors, etc. We had tried a lot of different apps and tools and none worked well. Once we instakled this app, all problems stopped. What is even better is that it is reallh simple. For users that are not technical, this is a great tool. There are not a lot of settings to worry about. You set your devices and go. The downside is that it does not play well with outer apps, like Sound Control. However that apps could not do the main feature this one could. My only complaint, and it is minor, is the toolbar icon looks weird. It puts 2 images and the look off compared to each other. Show more
