A little less than a year ago I started trying to stream my own (mostly high rez) music collection. I tried several of the obvious choices in the App Store, including Flacbox. It was all pretty frustrating and I gave up on it. Too much effort for buggy software, poor synchronization, missing songs, etc. Next I tried Roon and Roon Arc. That showed promise at first - but had much of the same problems only at a very high price point. I gave up on that too (I use an Aurender in my main (old fashioned 2 big speaker) system. A week or two ago I decided to try a few App Store solutions again to see if they might have become more viable. Flacbox was the clear winner and I’ve been working with it on both my iPhone and my iPad. I am thrilled with Flacbox v4.2! Look, nothing in this space is perfect yet. You need some patience and some time to re-download, re-sync, change song orders (with a great sort feature), etc. But now I have 125gb of uncompressed music on both my Apple devices and can use the online files (synced to my Google Drive) to replace downloads whenever I want (I haven’t streamed my online files much yet). Lastly, the Flacbox album display is beautiful. I highly recommend Flacbox and now just hope the app developer has a sustainable business model and keeps this app and future versions running like v4.2 does now. Show more

When you try to connect Onedrive to this app it requires access to ALL your files, not just the directory with your music in it. Tried to reach out to developers before this review but got absolutely no response. Another reason for the rating. Show more

I love this app, it does everything, moving from android to iPhone this is the best player app I found. Please enable gapless it will complete the app. And I will change it to 5 stars. Thank you. Show more

There is one feature I really want. It would make the phone more like an old mp3 player I miss those….. a home screen widget that allows full control and full ui of app(basically the app open on your homescreen) you could have apps on one screen and a “mp3 player” on the other. That would make it the perfect go to player for me. The interface is the best of the one’s I’ve tried, the option of splitting what to pay for(this,that, or all) was great, and it doesn’t have issues. I just miss the old mp3 players though and that would be nice to have. Thank you Show more

Please add feature refresh data automatically from external folder .

I used Neutron to play FLAC files on my Android and Apple iPhones for many years. That ended when I bought a Buffalo NAS to store my music and to stream it via DLNA. Flacbox has a better user interface and works great on Apple iPhones and iPads. Sorry Neutron, you’ve been out bested. Show more

After updating my iPad to IOS 16.1 Flacbox music player stop working in the background, so now I cannot use another app while listening music.

Finally a proper music player. Thank you for making this, it’s amazing!!! Plays everything I throw at it and works great. Have this synced with NAS and it updates over SMB no issues. Download files locally with no problems. Great job!! Show more

Very impressed

I’m having some problems with the free version, and because I can’t download anything, I have no way of knowing whether the problem is due to the file being pulled from my Google drive or something else. For example, sometimes when I start rewinding, it won’t stop. It will just rewind continuously and stops responding to my inputs altogether. This is very frustrating with long audio files. If you change the free version to allow 5 downloads or something, people could get the full experience and know whether this app is for them. Show more

So thus is one of the best app I ever used. The issue is that my CarPlay sometimes start behaving finicky. I wish in CarPlay I could see song lists from the app and as soon as my Bluetooth connects with the CarPlay it automatically open the my selected folder from app and show me the list of songs in there. Another issue is the some songs base is so bad that even if I use low base eq it still flutter my car speakers. There could be a way in the app that no matter what the base of any song but it never must go above a level that it starts giving fluttering base sounds from speakers. One more thing you can do is that when I open the app all they can do is to give option so that whatever fav folder I select in app settings that open first rather main page with all folders so that way suppose I am in a folder where my all the songs are stored then every time it can open that favorite folder when I open app so no need to multiple times taps and if I want to go to another folder then I can do so but in settings I always should have option which folder pop open right away when I start app. It will make life lot easier.
