Great app with LOTS of potential.
I gave this app only four stars because it’s obviously growing as the Orba itself is growing and developing with user interface and feedback. The exciting thing about this app is that it’s a new way to approach photo and video editing using a tactile wireless remote. The sound options are currently limited, but I am certain that there will be more options as development continues. The same is true of the photo filters. Given the number of effects choices many “cartoon” or “Art” camera apps have, I’m sure these too will be expanded… I’d love to see more “art” filters with ways to manipulate them live during recording. And speaking of that. What SUPER exciting is just the possibility of just a simple hand held wireless remote. The orba COULD be used to pull focus, control exposure, control frame rate, contrast, and many other aspects of camera control!!! Can’t wait to see how this app grows!!!! Show more

    It’s fine
It does what it says, it’s just something that sound cooler than it is (for me). The music-making is cool, albeit way better on an actual Orba. Although if you have an Orba, this app has more sounds than the actual Orba app for some reason. If the idea is to sell people on Orba, this isn’t really a value-add for the device. If the idea is to stop developing for Orba in favor of Orbacam, I recommend just doing it from the ground up rather than trying to squeeze two concepts together. Either way, it makes me hesitant to buy whatever Artiphon puts out next unless I see a recommitment to making Orba into a great device for at least one function instead of “fine” for multiple ones. Crash on connection to Artiphon
Works perfectly after updating firmware on Orba!

    Crashes
The app crashes almost immediately after being opened. All day trying and can’t use for more than 20 seconds... couldn’t even connect the orba

Love the update with onscreen playing
The new update is super cool! They added onscreen playing so now you can make music and add VFX directly in the app. Reminds me of TikTok meets GarageBand. Artiphon is always innovating and coming up with unique creator tools - 5 stars! Show more

Pretty cool… can’t wait to see what’s next!!
I really love my Orba, and this app makes it easier to share the beats I’m building. How about more video filters?! Keep up the good work!!

    Latency and connection issues
Recording while playing is currently unusable. The metronome goes off time and there is so much lag and latency that it’s impossible to play in sync. I really hope this improves in the future. Metronome control in the app does not function properly, you sometimes can/sometimes can’t turn it off and on. After recording a video and deleting it to try again, the app stops responding to the Orba even though it still says it is connected. Sometimes have to power off Orba and reconnect it to get it to work. This really needs to go back to the drawing board guys. Great fun concept, and I’m really disappointed that I can’t make use of it right now. Show more

    Cool concept, pretty limited
Really love the concept of having live video reactive to the instrument. The AR features of this App give you a taste of the future of combined visual/sound effect, but feel really limited and basic when you’re used to the vast creativity of Instagram and Snapchat filters. I hope they update it with more filters, and I’m curious if they can up the reactivity of the filters to the sound (it seems to respond only to initial hit, but the visual doesn’t change if you are holding a note and moving the instrument to change volume). With more creative visual movement options and deeper sound reactivity, I think this would be a really expressive app. Right now it’s a fun toy but im not spending much time with it. Also, not a fan of the Orbacam stamp at the bottom of the screen, I get it, but makes the experience feel cheaper and less artistic. Show more

Update your firmware on the Obra
Once this was done, no more crashes.

Adds video effects features to Orba hardware
Orbacam is a fascinating and super fun concept. It turns the Orba electronic musical instrument into a VFX controller. You can make crazy colorful videos and export easily to social media. Show more
