Update. Keeps resetting on its own. Please fix. Best in its class. No other AI generative app I’ve used compares. On my wish list are more time signatures and scales/modes. But even as is, it provides hours and hours of usable material. Oh, one more wish - ability to add greater variety of sections into an arrangement. Show more

Firstly, I really enjoy this app. I really like exploring generative apps like this. I especially love sampling the sounds generated from them. Piano Motifs adds to that creative process by generating ideas I would not have discovered myself. I also find myself learning new chord progressions. I would like to have a way to adjust the velocity per note. This would give a bit more of a human feel. Show more

Love the AUv3 update but I would love to have an override to the tempo sync to half and quarter time. High to low velocity range option and chord changes down to the quarter beat would also be nice to have. Show more

I enjoy the program… This is a note to the developer; is there a way to set random note velocity? Or create rules for velocity settings like random clumping or certain notes are loud I don’t know something like that… That would get you five stars the sixth star would be four doing kind of an intro and outro???… See my YouTube entitled;Motifelia…… Show more

This app is amazing. It needs midi sync or Ableton link though. I’d gladly pay for it if it were an iap. Better yet would be if it were an audio unit then it would sync to a host automatically. Seriously this app is worth way more than it costs. Show more

This is a Fantastic App! I use this repeatedly with Navichord and Chord AI. Would be Great to have a dedicated volume button (where is it?) to reduce the intensity of the chord progressions and Melody. Feels like the pianists is playing too hard at times. Something similar to the volume control in the Navichord app under settings-audio-instruments. Just Love this App! Show more

I purchased Piano Motifs shortly after release, and I’m very glad that I did. It is one of the best audio and/or midi semi-generative apps available on iOS. The developer is extremely responsive and has been constantly updating this app, adding newer, better features. I say semi because there are many parameters or rules you can set before it generates a motif, even add your own chord progressions. The midi out IAP is a must for someone like me. It’s easy to route up to 3 separate midi channels (Melody, accompaniment, & Chords) using virtual midi into a host like AUM and record all the midi. Almost every single motif you generate is worth saving. I like to create a few motifs in the same key and tempo then arrange them into parts, then record the midi, and expand upon it. 10 Stars! This is quickly becoming my favorite musical sketching tool. It’s great for beginners trying to learn some music theory, and you can really get into some deep tinkering if you already have a handle on music theory. The app can feel a little clunky at first, but you can get pretty deep into fine tuning the melodies, bass, and chord progressions. I’m honestly blown away at the amount of inspiration I’ve found tinkering with this app. Buying the MIDI out upgrade is a must for me, but for a few bucks it’s totally worth it. I do wish there was a more straightforward AUv3 integration. Sure, I can route the midi through AUM (or directly into most synth apps, though I had trouble with SynthMaster2) but still, it’d be sweet if I could load it in a midi channel strip and run it in AUM. Exporting the midi and loading it into Atom Piano Roll or Helium works for me for now. Show more

This has always been one of the top generative/ai/algorithmic music apps on the store, but the new UI revamp just took it over the top and straight to #1. If you have any interest in music on the iOS environment then you MUST get this app. Show more

This is a beautiful app, especially when you feed the midi to your favorite synths. Great for generating endless ideas for compositional starting points, as well as entirely satisfying just to listen to and enjoy. This app is so good and such an amazing deal. Most generative apps just randomize notes within a key, with no particular musicality. This app is truly musical, only generating motifs that an actual pianist might play. I can’t imagine how complicated this had to have been to code. If you’re an iOS musician, this app is so helpful for generating new ideas. I would have paid 5x this price for it! Show more

(updated review as of 6/16/21) I just can’t rave enough about this developer! He is ONE of the most responsive, if not THE most responsive dev I have ever personally encountered with an iOS app. He LISTENS to his user base and implements changes (when it is doable) OFTEN. And his updates (nearly all the time) are quite notable! This program has advanced quite a bit since I have been a user and Piano Motifs has only been around for a year. Amazing! The program is inexpensive considering how much it does. He has a tip jar implemented and I gladly tip him often and I strongly suggest users support him as well. Of course you can judge for yourself after you purchase the MIDI part of the program. Read some of the user comments and listen to some of the music that was created with PM on his forum (audiobus) and you will see what I mean about this wonderful program. Show more

Piano motifs was working fine for me and then I purchased the midi out upgrade and since then I haven’t been to audition any of the sounds? Is it a bug perhaps? Show more
