    E.J.’s Review
This app is an awesome way to develop one’s musical ears. It gives you the options to start on any given topic with any type of specifics. You can customize it to fit what you specifically need to work on hearing. I use this for my Jazz Theory class, and because of it I have improved how I hear five note voicings. I would recommend this to any musician that wants to improve how they hear harmonic devices. Show more

    Error
I keep getting error and it says audio unitinitialize failed. I paid $5.99 to get the beginner course but can’t use anything.

The only ear training that's worked for me
This is the best ear training app/course/teacher I've ever had. It allows you to go at your pace and measure your progress.

    Best for Bass players
What separates EarMaster from the rest is the fact that it has a bass fretboard. Most of the other apps use a keyboard. When you get to the melodic dictation as a bass player, I spend most of my time searching for the correct note. EarMaster has made this easy. I travel for a living and I spend hours sitting in airports playing with EarMaster on my iPad. EarMaster has become part of my travel ritual. Show more

    Too expensive
There a number of other ear training apps available. At these prices I would rather pay a music teacher or take an online class. Paying $12 per section is outrageous. It would be cheaper to take a college course. Show more

    I love it but
I love this app but the problem is some of the notes are too high or too low to sing when you match it with your voice which can cause vocal strain Show more

No connection with my hearing aids
This has been a wonderful app. However there is no audio connection with my hearing aids. Of course, it runs find through the speaker. With other music training apps I've had no problems of this nature. Please find a way to fix this problem. I'll be forever thankful! Show more

    Great lessons with minor gotchas.
The beginners course is engaging and progressive music instruction. There is a nice range of activities that work well in theiPhone app ecosystem. Most activities are fun and each module takes under an hour. It is self guided. The gotchas include rhythm activities using a clap; the clap has no duration so was that an eighth note with eighth rest or a quarter note? In detecting errors, should I mark the first eighth note (which is not a quarter note) or the eighth rest taken (which is not in the notation)? It is much better for this kind of activity when the piano sounds are used as they DO have a duration! An organ might have less decay! In some sing-back exercises, knowing when to start singing is not clear. Some of the activities demand you start on the next beat of the metronome, others permit a count-in measure, others say you can start anytime; but I have had a few “bomb” scores as a result of lack of consistency and accurate instruction. Some activities can be repeated for improvement but sometimes the last sing-back event is excluded from a do-over. We are taking this to learn, so repeating it for credit could be unscored, but practice is what gets you to Carnegie Hall! So allowing one to repeat every activity (EVERY) is good reinforcement. In sing-back the app appears to show an attack arrow and a wavy line for duration on the notation in real time. I’m not sure about their meanings. The position of the arrow and note head might show early or late entrance, but pointed up or down or left or right is unclear. Green arrows are good but other colors are not so clear. Is arrow up or down also pitch related? The wave duration is pretty clear, but position on the line or space maybe relates to pitch. But pitch sensitivity is a problem. Sing-back with consonants or any vibrato is a fast trip to low scores! Solfege is hard to do well! Pure vowels are best. Breaths taken in longer passages likewise lead to score reductions and comments about imprecise note durations and intonation. In module 12, the opening examples don’t play (12.1-12.5) correctly the notation shown. Our director has showed us three different music instruction apps; this is clearly the best of them, in spite of the gotchas! Show more

    Outstanding tool!
I’ve tried different ways to improve my ear. I stumbled on this app from a YouTube video I’ve been using it for a couple weeks and it’s been incredibly effective in improving my abilities. I’m just working through the beginner course. I like the gradual way challenges are introduced. And the feedback is fantastic. It’s very easy to see where I’m off and repeat exercises or even individual examples. Show more

    Learning more than in college!
Best money I’ve spent on music theory education.

    So bad
This app is useless. The answers it plays always contradicts to the audio, answers constantly change, and I’ve learned nothing from this app. they make it impossible to play after an eight rest Show more

    Needs Portrait mode.
Great, but I hate how landscape mode is forced on iPhone. Feels like you just made and iPad version without the iPhone in mind. Please add this feature. I would use this app way more and would be willing to using the subscription service if you did this. Show more

    Best App Yet
I’ve tried a handful of ear training apps, and this one is by far the best. Its also the most expensive, but worth the coin in my opinion. I never felt like I really learned much in the other apps. With Ear Master the exercises are much richer, and therefore closer to real music making. Don’t waste your time, just get the best. My only complaint is that it can be a bit buggy. Sometimes I’ll load up an exercise and the UI will crash. Show more

    Visible improvement
It’s an extremely useful app, I can see an obvious improvement after about three weeks of using it. I’m currently using the exercises (after purchasing the bundle). It’s really worth the money imho. One thing I’ve noticed though that I didn’t like so far is in the Chord inversions exercise when I make a mistake whether it was an augmented chord and not a diminished one, it logically should show the difference between the different chord types for the SAME key in my opinion and not based on the first note you hear. Or is there some kind of a setting where this can be changed? Otherwise, so far, I’m a very happy user. I use it daily for 45-60 minutes doing two rounds of each exercise type in my current exercise set. Show more

    Worth the price
Been a happy customer for many years. The best out there. You get what you pay for.
