Bad. limited function. Hard to use.
It's pretty bad. I can't find trill. I don't see how I can export scores for parts for my string quartet. I can't add terminology like dolce anywhere. Terrible for classical composing. Show more

    Not a user friendly app
Mr Korovin. Your app it is not user friendly at all. Not possible to understand what CAN be done and what CAN NOT be done with the app before one decides or not to BUY the whole version of the app. If you really want to bring out a helpimng hend to the musicians then you should take this into account. Completely non-intuitive
I understand navigating a music score can be complex. Its because of that the interface MUST be simple to use. But this is not. I installed the app and literally spend 30 minutes trying to add a single note to a single position on the staff. There is no tutorial, no guide, etc. I went to the website and found some instructions. I did find some, but they are completely non-intuitive. Navigating, selecting bars, measures, adding chords. Its all slow, clumsy, etc. Then I FINALLY found how to add single notes. You select a "spot" on the staff (inside an event), and you type on the keyboard. But the letters you type make seemingly make no sense. You want a C note? Type the letter A. You want a D note? Type S. What?? E note: type D. Seriously? And of course the FREE version you can't save your work. That's not an app - its crippleware. Save yourself some time. Skip this one. Show more

I really want to like this app...I can't seem to find a way notate down & up picks. Otherwise, it's a really clean and easy to use app.

    Can't open the app
I can't open the app without it crashing. I want to purchase the full version because, for the time that the app worked for me, it did exactly what I needed. However, I'm worried about paying for the full app since the free version keeps crashing as soon as I click on the window! I'm giving 3 stars because the app was great before I experienced this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Show more

    NVM, IT IS PERFECT
After using the free one for a while, I bought it. And it surpasses all expectations. I love it, I have made awesome music. 10/10 Ps. DONT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEW, THEY ARE JUST TOO LAZY TO LEARN, PLUS 18 DOLLARS IS HARDLY A DENT IN YOUR WALLET. Edit: the new interface is quite stunning, in a good way though. I caught on relativily quickly to it since I was familar to the old one, but it may be over whelmening to someone just getting this. So all I have to say is don't give up, because you'll get the hand of it after a bit of using it Show more

    Crashes. Does not work.
I loaded the update and it crashes when you try to add any notes after the first note. I deleted and reloaded and it still crashes.

    Perfect for my use
I had looking an inexpensive program to do sheet music notations and i found this in the App Store while looking Sebelius. I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. Only couple thing like to change is having control over the size of the measure between bar lines, the number of measure per line and the spacing between staffs. Its looks a bit crowded, if there's a way to change this let me know. Show more

    Don’t waste your time
This is probably the worst music edit software I have EVER used. There is nothing intuitive about it and frankly, I am not understanding anybody giving this 5 stars. Nothing about it makes sense other than creating a new score. The help is a total waste. Just don’t waste your time and drive space on this. Show more

    From a fingerstyle guitarist...
I'm enjoying Stave'n'Tabs immensely. In a very few hours, writing in tab has become very efficient, especially using keyboard functions and shortcuts. I work in a variety of alternate tunings, easily customized in the tuning pane. Since I'm primarily an instrumentalist, I use the lyric input to designate a piece's tuning (DADEAD, etc.), and also to indicate harmonics (har.) and other clarifying notations. Perhaps upcoming versions can incorporate specific input possibilities for tapping and other techniques, but overall Stave'n'Tabs is by far the best app I've tried for my composing process. I hope Ivan continues to develop the app, and extend my heartfelt appreciation for what he's accomplished. Lee Show more

    Money Baiter
I am a rythmist wwho was writing some basslines, and in the very middle of mywork it all dissapeared. It took forever to figure out how to use it, but after a while I figured it out. The biggest issue is that you cant save your work. All of my hard work, gone, because this app doesnt let people save thier work without paying an absurd price for premium. Show more

    Excellent
I just purchased this software. So far I find it to be well written and easy to learn. Just what I was looking for.

    Limited
This might be because I only have the free version but in terms of writing music, articulation is limited to just accents and fermates which I feel is limiting to a musician. Show more

Could be OK to Good but Mr. Korovin et al do not know enough about music
Mr. Korovin: How many types of rests are in music? AS MANY AS THERE ARE NOTE LENGTHS! You offer no instructions on how to create anything but a quarter rest. Sometimes, we composers need half-rests or rest of even less length and rests tha are greater length than quarter rests. Frankly, get off the “quaver” verbiage. This is obviously no software for musicologist and they are the ones who might use such terminology. I am trying out the free version to see if I want the Pro version. You are not making a good sales pitch. I appreciate your efforts to make an affordable and actually useful piece of software and it is close to being there. Providing more clear and thorough instructions would be helpful. English not your first language? Send me you best translation and I will help you straighten it out, for a free Pro copy. Seriously. I have a BA in music and have spent my live playing, composing, and arranging. Show more

    So much potential, but...
I purchased the Pro version of this app. It does (or could potentially do) so many wonderful things that are exactly what I’m after, which is arranging guitar chords and lyrics along with bass tabs and notation. The problem is that I have found it absolutely tedious to use on my Mac desktop computer. I’ve been using point and click, with occasional key strokes to enter my music and it takes me way too long to do very simple parts. The interface seems to fight me every step of the way. There must be a better way, but I find that the available documentation and video instruction are as cumbersome as the app itself. Even if I manage to finish the song I’m currently working on, it is going to take twice the number of pages because I can’t seem to condense the vertical space between the parts. I hope the developers improve its ease of use, because I need something with less muscle than Logic Pro for what I’m doing, but it still needs to feel musically responsive. And please add contrast to the UI. I need to be able to see a cursor--or highlighting that stands out more than pale yellow on white—so I can see which part, beat, or bar I am working with. Show more

    THRILLED so far!!!
I just downloaded this free app about an hour ago and am very happy with it so far! I needed to notate my guitar chords so I could remember what I wrote. This app does so much! It seems to do everything I need. Still learning about it but it is very user friendly, has text/lyrics and lots of music notation functions. Thank you! I can’t say enough. I don’t want to go through all the functions and explain how to use it but I highly recommend it. Comes with a good help guide or just click around and you can usually figure something out. Great for guitar and lead sheet writing! More of my experience to come later. Looking forward to seeing the print capabilities. I tried to print straight from the editor/project window but it printed large and off the page, however, I haven’t tried to save it to PDF and then print. I would like to know if IAmTheWalrus got his issue resolved as I have not tried to compose with a triplet yet. Also had an issue with the slur lining up just where I wanted it between two 16th notes, however, I may not be savvy with it yet (I was trying to indicate a slide from one fret to another). Seriously considering buying the extended version. Show more

it appears that I cannot put in a triplet
