    Promising but needs work
I’m an avid Tenori-On user. The fact that in SoundGrid each instrument needs to have its own scale chosen independently is pretty much an annoyance that breaks the app for me :/ Show more

The button for patterns is not working
Not sure if the button for patterns is working. Like I click it and nothing happens. So I am stuck being able to only play the first pattern and it will not continue playing onto the 2nd one. Show more

Having a lot of fun with this.
A well-designed musical tool that is more complex than it appears at first glance. For instance, the ability to set loop ranges for each pattern means being able to play a 7 note sequence on top of 12 if so desired. There is a nice selection of instruments available, but of course I want more. (Note to developer: how does one access the web interface mentioned in the description, in order to create instruments?) Another example: adjustable feedback and timing of the delay effect, either in milliseconds or in multiples of a 32nd note ... and fractional multiples if you want. ? Very glad to have found this gem. Show more

    It’s back!
It is back. Reposting my 5 star rating. I made some awesome and surprising tracks with this back in the day. Doing it again right now. I was amazed to see it available again. Thanks. Show more

    Not happy at all
App doesn't work on iPhone 6 plus. Constantly crashes and freezes. Fix it or refund my money!

    freezes
I really want to give this a higher rating, but I can't even make a new grid or download a grid made by other users without the app freezing.

    Fun and overlooked
I have owned most of the matrix sequencers in this class including the expensive ones. There were honestly just too many to try them all and I had to draw the line somewhere. I wish I had picked this one up a couple of years back. I bet I would have had fun with it. It does not seem to have some of the modern features I would consider necessary for my workflow but it you are on a budget and want to try one of these grid style pattern sequencers, this one has some useful capabilities. With a bit of love from the developer this could be a nice alternative to the rather expensive apps that it is similar to. Seeing as how it hasn't had an update since 2011 I am not sure we will see that. Show more

    Static
This app is very basic. It is inexpensive, but the samples sound quite bad. There is horrible static on the samples when using headphones. There are not many samples to work with and the sounds get old quick. I would advise saving your money and getting a better app that has more possibilities. I may end up deleting this, because of the sound quality. Show more

    Absolutely superb
This is the most intuitive electronic music app I've come across in the App Store, and it delivers plenty of bang for your buck. The import/export options make are a huge plus, and it's layout actually lends itself surprisingly well to live performances. There are quite a few of instruments, as well as the option to create your own, but I really, really, hope the developers add more. Show more

    Amazing!
What an amazing piece of software for the iPhone! The features and function of this app can usually be expected in dedicated sequencer hardware. Anyone with or without a musical ear will love spending lots of time on this app. Show more

    Wonderfully Simplistic and Complex
If that made any sence at all to you, get this app! I had never tried making music before, but I am on the road to being the next Mozart because of this app. Only one concern; 8 boxes is a bit short. Perhaps 16 or 24 boxes for more complete songs... EDIT: Umm, your scales are wrong. Lines 10 and 11 on most of the instruments are switched. This is quite disabling and rather disappointing. Please fix this quickly. Show more

    Elegant and expressive
I immediately made music I loved with this app, and wished I could make a longer piece...maybe I'm missing something but 8 pattern seems like a limitation.

    The
It's also a bit simpler, as he said, because of the views. I actually really like it. You can upload your own instruments, theoretically, but the ones that are here are pretty good too [especially the downloadable ones: there's a steinway in there, and a waldorf synth that's very nice]. Friendly w/live gigs and just a very nice package. I bought this after paying $1 for Melodica, was worried I'd regret this but after I saw all the options and setup [on the iPad, anyways] I think it was a bit of a steal. Hopeful the dev will keep updating, and maybe this review will give him[/get him via other purchases!] money to make the decision easier. :P. CoreMIDI would be kind of nice but the tempo option makes it less necessary ... Also, not being $40 like the Aurora Studio thing is ... very nice. No way I'm paying $40 for an app, at least not yet, even with all those features. Show more

    great app
as step sequencers go it's one of the best and i keep coming back to it because it's got a great ui and live gig friendly. wish it had midi support... but you can't always get what you want. Show more

    Great App
Great app, only one complaint... Currently, you can onIy trigger one point on the grid at a time. It really needs simultaneous touch triggering methods for better live performance and efficiency. Show more

    Best of the genre IMHO
I have tried lots of the apps of this type and this one comes closest to the Tenori-on. (I have played with a Tenori-on hands-on). in fact, having the visual "live play" is somewhat easier to perform on than the Tenori-on where you have to remember what's in each block. The Tenori-on has a bunch of features and playing modes you won't find here, but this does cost hundreds less! It really shines on the iPad where you have room to see your grid and layers clearly. Functionality wise, I would like to see more robust grid management so you could email a grid in progress rather than sharing it publicly, and a clear way to delete old "noodling around" grids you no longer want. Im sure they take up a minimal amount of space, but it's clutter you don't need, especially on the iPhone/pod. A couple crazy enhancement ideas... It would be wicked awesome if it output some kind of blended grid visual when connected to an external display. Also, another music app (the lovely but more difficult Pattern Music) lets you play over the top of a song in your music library. It would be amazing if this could work here. You'd have to do bpm detection, but it would rock so hard. Bottom line, I love this app and if you like bipping and beeping music, you should give it a try. Show more

    Wow!
I've always wanted a tenori-on but don't have a thousand bucks just layin around. This is definitely my new favorite app!

    Sweet
To select a note press, hold and move to wanted spot release, ... Awesomely fun app more grids would be better and to keep the ringtones for iPhone...
