a great app! but really needs an update
pros: animating the modules, with their distances from each other changing values in between- AMAZING! lots of great modules and the sound quality is quite decent (way better than audulus and in some cases, more refined than mirack). great price point! cons: needs an update badly! with ios14 features like auv3 effect/instument version.. as well as access to the file browser. of course, bugs fixes that others have mentioned here as well. Very little, way too late.
Update: When this synth app was first released it was a marvel. But there it pretty much sat for years and years, falling behind standard technologies, existing in an apparent vacuum, slowly becoming ‘odd man out’. Being ‘only’ designed for AudioBus greatly cripples it’s usefulness. Now that I’ve switched from AUM to apeMatrix there’s no looking back. No IAA, no AUv3, no Ableton Link, etc. It’s a shame as Jasuto had a good PDF manual. I’ll leave it at 3-stars, for now, in hopes that this developer will bring Jasuto into modern times. —— I think I missed the 64-bit update, having deleted Jasuto since it wasn’t working any longer and ‘appeared’ to be no longer supported. I was searching on ‘synth’ looking for anything new and stumbled across Jasuto. I about did a summer-salt downloading it immediately. Jasuto was the first synth app I ever owned. It’s a little disappointing though that Jasuto doesn’t support IAA, Ableton Live, etc., so it sorta is a novelty app for now. It is a cryptic comment by Chris. According to his Jasuto manual He joined Apple in 2008. He’s picking up on something from 11 years ago? Good PDF user manual. Show more

    It’s baaaaack!!!!
Super powerful app. I’ve Hardly scratched the surface and already creating weird and wild sounds. No need to be a programming genius to git this bugga shimmering. Considering the depth of this thing I will be immersed for some time. Show more

    Grin a mile wide : 64bit!
This update is a wonderful surprise! Thank you for taking the time to ensure this wonderful piece of software can live on for many more years (hopefully). 128-bit isn't going to be required next month, is it? Curious about your cryptic comment : 'priority to what [you] were working on prior to joining Apple'??? Show more

    Jasuto Lives!
I can't think of a modular iOS app that I've used longer than Jasuto. It's definitely fiddly, but you this thing can do simple synthesis all the way through building a vocoder. Highly recommended, especially if Chris keeps adding to it. Show more

Amazing modular synth updated to 64 bit!
I never write reviews, but I had express my joy and admiration to the Dev for updating to 64 bit! Jasuto is one of the most powerful modular environments around (FFT analysis and spectral effects) but with an amazing design focused on the fact that this is running on a touchscreen platform. The distance between nodes affects their modulation strength, so you can "play" your scenes - and, even better, with motion recording, those modulations become complex LFOs. No idea if the Dev will have time to add in modern features (Ableton Link, AUv3, etc.), but regardless, this is still amazingly capable after all these years (and with FFT and motion recording more capable than other, more recent, options) and well worth adding to the collection of any audio explorer. iOS 12?
Any chance we might see a version compatible with iOS12.. really missing this app. Don’t want any new features just to be able to use it again!

Oh No! iOS 11 No Go! ?
Edit: hoping this gets upgraded to iOS 11 (64 bit)... ________________ Original review: Holy Amazecow! First off: cannot believe I waited this long to try Jasuto. Modular creaminess galore. Does loads of things - drum synth, sequences, fx, pads, self-generating ambient 'scapes, very thick sexy basses, and once you get used to the kind of weird but efficient workflow it's really easy to tweak stuff simply by moving the modules around. I have almost every other modular available for iPhone, but can already tell this is going to be more fun and sonically rewarding than the rest. Just... WOW. Show more

Love this app. Any chance of an update?
Takes some real effort, but what an instrument! This is a deep application. Best synth app by far! Im using this app on my record! Totally amazing sounds! Bravo!!!

    Dev hit by a bus?
So sad, another set of apps left to rot. Always a risk with mobile, especially with single-dev apps I suppose.

    Welp, looks like it's over
This project is dead. RIP Jasuito. So sad an excellent project went to waste. Hasn't seen updates or bug fixes in a while. The website is iffy at best. My recommendation is to go buy Zmors modular but basically just look elsewhere. Show more

    Really good
Way better than the logo or screenshots would lead you to believe. I downloaded on a whim despite owning several other modular apps, but this is my fave.

    The best
Jasuto is easily the best balance of raw power, flexibility and ease of use to be found in iOS land. I'm sure it's very difficult to remove all bugs from software this complex, but in the current iteration Chris has done a great job of getting rid of all the glaring usability issues that plagued earlier versions, and this app now fulfills all the promise that was there in 2009. While not for the faint of heart or the rompler-lover, Jasuto is a serious tool for noisemaking. It's an invaluable learning aid for those thinking of getting into hardware modular; most techniques used in Jasuto are directly applicable to that realm. Still great after you own hardware as a sketchpad for your patching ideas, or just to keep up your chops wherever you're at. To get such limitless power in hardware...I'm not sure $50k worth of Eurorack would be able to match this app running on any iPad or iPhone you can buy right now. In a couple years it might take $100k. Seriously. You want 30 oscillators? 14 filters? 6 different delay lines? A dozen envelopes? No problem! Get out your wallet and keep funding this guy, because I want more! More! Show more

Highly creative and fascinating modular synth
I'm using version 1.6 on iPhone 5s and IOS 8.3. It's a great synth app, very flexible and capable of creating a wide range of sounds and soundscapes. It gets 4 stars and not 5 due some glitches. First, in the File menu, there is no delete command, and the Delete button in the File Open screen doesn't actually delete the selected file. Second, in the Node Edit screen, double tapping the value field switches it to Num mode -- tapping it again to edit the value causes the app to crash. Finally, there is no way to enter or edit information about the file. The Information button doesn't work and for some reason the app automatically inserts descriptions from files that come with the app. I hope these issues get fixed. Show more

    Deep and intuitive
This is my favorite app right now. It's very fun to play with, but also seriously capable. I'm still sort of green when it comes to electronic music production and I still have a lot to learn, but using this app is helping me understand a lot of features of the other programs I've been using by having the same tools in an intuitive interface. It's also made some of my other apps a bit redundant, since I can basically create more tweakable versions of them within Jasuto. It's great wether trying to achieve something specific with meticulous detail, or just experimenting with the nodes to see what happens. I only wish I wasn't such a late comer, so I could have grabbed the VST version, which is apparently no longer available. Jasuto is wonderful. Get it. Show more

    Refund!
It simply does not work. The app does not open. I've tried deleting it and reinstalling, but still nothing. I gave the App Store my five dollars, and I got nothing in return! Show more

Good app, but AB not working. Gladly give it 5 stars when updated. Updated 5 stars.

    Great app except Audiobus
Ok it's been well over a month and no update. Audiobus does not work at all so don't believe that it will. Why keep selling the app if you are not going to continue it? Update:: website is back up. But no update to the fact that Audiobus no longer works. I bought Audiobus just to use with this app now I am out a few dollars. I wonder how many more people are also out the money? Show more
