    Disappointing
I just bought this App for my iPad thinking that I could convert some of my midi tracks in Garage Band and Music Studio to sheet music, but this is not the App for that. In fact, I have been unable to find an App that works on iPad that will do that. Anyway, I figured that I could still use this App to capture elusive chords and notes when humming in the mic as it is advertised. However, Magic Stave does a pretty lousy job of capturing all the notes no matter how slow I try to sing or hum a tune. I even tried different mics including USB mic attached to the iPad using the Apple photo adapter but that didn't work (that mic setup works fine with Garage Band). Also, when I attached my midi keyboard I got a lot of electronic "fuzz" with each recorded note on playback and had to make sure I switched to just the midi input to get clear notes. Same with the mic, but the instructions don't tell you that. It would also be good if you could hear a midi instrument when recording, but Magic Stave doesn't convert to audio on the input. That's a real shame for someone used to plugging their midi keyboard in to record on Garage Band and being able to hear what they're recording. One more thing when attaching a midi instrument is that you have to select the right channel. At first I could not get my keyboard to work until I "found" it on channel 8, then for some reason I lost it and eventually found it again on channel 1. I also wanted to send a piano track from Music Studio to Magic Stave because I could see that it was showing Music Studio as a midi interface, but I'm not sure how I would be able to import it in to Magic Stave as there were no instructions in the Help section how to do that. This App is a good idea for someone wanting to capture a song idea while on the go, but I just couldn't get it to work. I think it will need some improvements to make it more usable, but for me it was a wasted 3 bucks and Saturday afternoon screwing with it when I could have had more fun recording a new song. I hope to see an update that will make it more usable. Show more

    Violin, and precision of fingering
Would you provide an option for fingering 'tapes' for violin? It would show whether the note is correct, or between tones. Magic Stave seems to have some trouble detecting notes above high E (in the octave above middle C). I think I saw a notice about improving this, though the same clefs still seem to be shown. Awesome
Could use better accuracy sometimes but about 95% accurate sometimes there's a delay in note display if singing into the phone but it has helped me a lot with pitch and songwriting I highly recommend it. Show more

Great app. I use it to find notes in songs. However, it doesn't function on any of my iOS9 devices. Please fix that!!!!

    Good App
I really like making my own music but, unfortunately, I don't actually know a whole lot about it. This app is really helpful for me when it comes to figuring out which notes I'm singing, and it even shows me where those notes are played on the piano, which saves me a lot of time and effort. The only thing upon which I believe could be improved is the clarity of how to use everything, because I'm fairly certain I'm not making the most of this app, but purely because I don't quite understand how to go about using it. Maybe it's just me and I'm somehow missing something that would be straightforward for another person, but I'm still confused nonetheless. Overall, it has been a good app for what I'm using it for. nice app
This accurate note recognition through a simple interface. As a guitarist, it would be great if the note history could be stored and displayed in tab format within the app, as opposed to exporting the midi file and then manipulating with something like guitar pro. Show more

    Brilliant!
Just learning to read music and this is amazing! Love the ability to show the notes as the note names rather than as notes. I’m learning fast. It’s amazingly fast and accurate too, how does it do that? I upgraded from the free version as I wanted to see the note positions on a guitar. Thoroughly recommended! Show more

    Horrible
The notes it plays back and also detects are incorrect. It also sounds terrible. It's a stupid app.

    confusing
not sure this app works at all. directions are confusing and i do not believe this works as advertised. wanted it for ukulele since there is not much sheet music available. I cant get it to work at all. I would be happy to retract this if we can get this to work or provide some education. Show more

    Terrible
I got this app to help me write music when I had a melody. This is probably one of the most confusing apps I've ever used, and does a very bad job of finding the correct notes. It also ignores double notes, even if you rest between them. It's one of the worst apps I've ever had to experience using. Show more

    My Dream App
Ever since I was a youngster learning music, I dreamed of an app that would allow me to hum or sing a melody and immediately show me the notes. That dream has come true with Magic Stave. If you have a modicum of ability to sing on key, you can use this app to figure out any melody you imagine. I have fairly decent relative pitch from many years of playing music, but sometimes I just cannot figure out an interval by ear. Magic Stave to the rescue! If I can sing it on key, Magic Stave can tell me exactly what note I’m singing and I can figure out the interval from there. It can display the note position on various instruments, including guitar, AND show you the actual note name on the stave (A C note will actually appear as the letter “C”). This is fantastic for dummy, self-taught rock guitar players like me who only have very basic music reading ability. As an added bonus, Magic Stave can now immediately PLAY that melody with one of several instruments along with outputting the MIDI file. You don’t have to wait to import the MIDI file to a DAW anymore (although importing the MIDI file is also a FANTASTIC feature). All around an awesome app! I’d buy this app 10 more times if I could. It’s THAT good to me. Show more

    Cool so far
Is there a way I can listen to the midi recording in the app? I don't see a play button? Thanks

Good but maybe a timing snap?…
Because the human voice varies so much more than traditional instruments, maybe it would be possible to have a time constraint limited to 1/16 or 1/32. The user could choose the tempo and a click track count in would help them to stay on track from the beginning. And every note would be constrained to the tempo and the quarter note 8th note or whatever they choose. Show more

    Does what it promises!
Finally able to " write" a song by singing it. It records the notes in midi format which I was able to import into Garage Band then convert to a printable score. I'm a novice so putting notes from my head on paper has been a challenge- but not anymore. This apps also tells me what key I sing in. I had some questions about the app and the developer was very helpful. Happy with my purchase! Show more

    Pitch recognition.
This cool app hears the note you play and automatically shows you what it is!

A great way to indicate the notes
This is a great little tool for those who don't yet sight read music, or are looking to fine tune one's accuracy. I play the theremin, and this will be a great tool for my theremin students. I noticed someone mentioning inaccuracy of notes being displayed on repeated attempts at the same note being played. A number of factors can cause inaccurate note values to be displayed. Room accoustics, overtones generated by the body of an instrument (violins, cellos, guitars, ect), and room noise, such as computer cooling fans, insects that make noise (crickets), refrigerators, or airconditioners humming, or even an old flourescent light humming can interfere. It helps to have an accoustically quiet room. Perhaps a microphone adjustment might help filter out some of these issues in another version update. Tobad the ipods, and iphones don't have line inputs. All in all I like this product. Thanks. Show more

    Note History doesn't work
Tried the free version and liked it but it didn't record a note history, which the full version boasts. So bought the full version for that purpose and i greatly regret it. The note history, for one thing, can't be cleared. But then it only shows the last 7 notes anyway, and it has never once actually shown the correct sequence of notes that i played. It also won't show the same note if it is played twice in a row. It shows a correct note here or there plus a lot of incorrect notes that were never even played. It often seems to be laying notes down randomly, sometimes going to a lower note when it should be going to a higher one. The lack of accuracy is both profound and disgusting. It does do a decent job recognizing notes when the note history is turned off. My recommendation, if the note history is important to you, is to stay with the free app until the developer fixes this one, or perhaps find another. I can't comment on any of the other features.
