Sounds great! Connection with other audio apps is a nice touch. For example, record performances in Garageband. The tape recorder is great too for quick ideas. This app has worked well ever since it first came out. Great job! Show more

Loved it when it was free, but still worth some dough (since synth sounds seduce senses)

This app is easily comparable to any actual synth I have owned or played in terms of sound quality and customization. The possibilities are endless with options to change keyboard size, record ideas straight on the app, store custom made sounds and I couldn't imagine the countless amount of tones and noises to create. Once I figure out how to control it via a midi output device, I will truly unlock this apps potential. Has not crashed on me once and has shone new light on what is possible within the realms of a smartphone app.Recommended to all folks looking to make some serious tunes or just have some serious fun! For the price there is absolutely no going wrong. Show more

Love this synth but wish the "tape" function didn't crash everytime with this latest update -__-

nLog MIDI Synth is apparently one of the older synthesizer apps on iOS, and was appreciated long before the days when AudioBus came around and iDevices turned into portable, amateur music studios. Fortunately, the developer has kept with the times (this review after an April 2014 update), and we're left with an app that is AudioBus, Inter-App Audio, and Virtual MIDI compatible. The synth presets are more in the vein of the keyboards from the 1980's as opposed to the more modern atmospheric noises or arpeggiated sequencers, but I actually appreciate that. It's cheap, it's compatible, and it's still darn good. Show more

Errant Ways

Now that apps like Auria can support 24-bit WAV files, it would be nice to export recordings in this native format.

Why is it some companies think they can hijack a persons iPhone screen with a permanent banner ad. Their ad is non removable and stays on every screen of your iPhone. Don't get this product. Show more

I'm surprised to see so few reviews. I am a guitar guy but was so impressed with the quality of sound and presentation of this application that I bought a midi keyboard controller just so I could play with it. It turned my 61 key paperweight into an amazing instrument! The tuneability of this app is overwhelming for a noob like me though I can imagine seasoned synth artists would totally dig it. I'm looking forward to learning all of the ins and outs of this old-school analog-like synth. Show more

I really hate it when I pay a lot for a great app and then it's practically free later. Especially when the developer can't even be bothered to update it for the iPhone5 screen. Geez. Show more

No iPhone Sound Output When Connected to Akai SynthStation25. This means if you have no headphones when your moment of inspiration comes, you're out of luck... Stupid and ridiculous... ONE STAR! Show more

I was using the Akai SynthStation app for my SynthStation 25, but also liked the nLog better actually and used it more even than the Akai I just saw this update and was excited because I use an old iPhone and I thought app developers just focus on iPad apps for synth/DAW type apps I don't write reviews until I'm 100% stoked! And I am glad to say great job! Keep up the great work! An excellent piece of outboard gear! For studio work as well as live performances !!!!! Show more

NLog was one of the first synth apps for iOS, and is still one of the best. The programmer has a deep understanding of sound and sound algorithms, and he has continued to refine his apps with more features and more efficiency. For example, there are lots of music apps that can upload recordings TO SoundCloud, but how many are there that can download a recording FROM SoundCloud and either play it in the background or copy it to the clipboard? You can complain about the way patches are organized (by author instead of type), but not about the actual sound. Another feature that serious musicians will appreciate: NLog knows that it's not the only music app on your iPod or iPad, so it works smoothly with other instruments and controllers (such as Geo, Cantor, SoundPrism, ThumbJam, Little MIDI Machine, or Genome MIDI Sequencer). Cool but the sound goes away and I have to reload the app to get it back. Is there a master volume knob that I'm missing?

I use it wit my synthstation25 and its great, its got a great analog sound, great presets and room for your own sounds.

Really good app but the price is ridiculous
