Best ear trainer on the App Store.
I’m a professional classical musician and this is the best ear training app I’ve ever used. This one is easily the best to date. My only requests are 1) that they go back to the old leaderboard format. This new internal leaderboard system requires an account to be created and there are no people on the leaderboards anymore when there used to be thousands. 2) the melodic dictations start with a cadence to give you the key and sound like Melodies from a normal piece of music (at least for the earlier stages). Right now the Melodies sound random and it’s hard to find a tonal center. But the best thing about this app is it’s difficulty, so maybe it’s better to do dictations without this and to solely rely on intervals. Show more

    Well worth getting!
Helped me immensely and I have been a musician for a long time. I wish I had had this forty years ago when I first started playing. Do yourself a favor and get this app. (By the way, I am not even sure if I have ever written a review for an app, maybe at some point in the distant past.) Show more

Good but could be better for the price.
Title. For example, in the "chords and degrees" exercise, would it kill the devs to give the chord changes more realistic voice leading? The chords are all close-position and jump around in a very unrealistic way. Show more

    Terrific app
This is a very sophisticated app! The best ear training I’ve used. Challenging yet well laid out. Bravo to the developers!!!

    Crashes too much
Error. Over and over and over again. Nice program, if you can get it to open.

    I like it, but…
I got all the way through “Easy Mode” and then started “Classic Mode,” which is definitely more difficult. There, I am stuck in Level 1 (of 4), specifically on Chapter 4, Major and Minor Chord Inversions. I can easily distinguish between triad inversions presented in melodic (arpeggio) form, but cannot do it when presented in harmonic (chord) form. I have probably tried 100 times or more. I think the problem is that I am hearing overtones of the piano, rather than just the notes struck. In any event, I wish the app creators or someone would provide some help getting past this point. Can teach even the thick-headed
Wow. This app is changing my world! I’ve been in composing classes and in awe of all the students who just hear the chord types off the bat. That seemed like such an unattainable dream. I have been using this for about five weeks now and the results are astounding. I got stuck on phase two in “easy mode” for about ten days, trying to distinguish between harmonic fourths and fifths. I tried about a half hour a day and got so frustrated and felt so stupid. But one day I had a breakthrough and can hear SO much better! Chords and relationships that were opaque are crystal clear now. This is really helping my composing and the pitch when I sing. It’s also really helping me retain melodies that I write for much longer. Now that I can hear all the jumps in them, my brain can stop floundering and remember so much more. This app was EXACTLY what I needed and will highly recommend it to my friends. Show more

    Good design, but poor tones
You will have to use your phone speaker with this one, because the piano tones in this app are absolutely awful in headphones. Probably should have tuned it first.

    Best app out there!!!!
Been using this app on and off for years now and my ear has gotten to the point where i can hold my own in sessions with other guys that got their training at a college. this app does not bother you with annoying notifications to tell you to practice, if you're not motivated then this app doesn't sugar coat it. It take lots of practice And it's not gonna make you a good musician but it has the tools to give you an amazing ear. Show more

    Worth the money
    It’s good.

Good app but one problem so far...
The section on whole tone and diminished scale spelling seems broken. It says enharmonic spelling is ok but I am somewhat sure it’s penalizing me for the right answers. I don’t really like this part, i think it should be removed from the program. Show more

Amazing App for Aural Skill Classes
This app will help you tremendously in Aural Skill classes. You can constantly practice ear training whenever you want to! Many features as well. The apps price is so low and it’s worth buying overall, whether as a beginner or professional musician. It allows for you to build your listening skills at your own pace, plus you can create personalized practice exercises. Music majors, get this app. Show more

Was loving it, but it started crashing on me
Greats app, even purchased the complete version in-app. As of this morning though, it just won’t open on my iPhone 11. I even deleted the app (which probably made me lose all my progress) and downloaded it again, but no luck. Please advise so I can give the 5 stars review it deserves! Show more

Best Ear Training App I’ve found
I’ve tried a lot of different apps for Ear Training, and this is the best one. Fantastic sound. Fun and challenging. Worth paying for. I spend about an hour a day playing it, and I wish I had more time for it. Perhaps what I like best is how advanced it becomes. I have no issue paying for this as long as the material continues to evolve and get more advanced. Show more

Looks like a great app but...
Upgrading to full version doesn’t work. “An error has occurred while retrieving information from iTunes Store (USA).

    Very good ear training app!
I’ve downloaded and tried a lot of ear training apps, and this one is the best by far! One feature though that would be very useful is if for the chord training challenges there was a setting that allowed you to see the actual chord that was being played when the chord type is revealed i.e G7#5 rather than just 7#5 Show more

    Fun and useful
I absolutely love this app and may be a little addicted. Right now I’m on Level 2 in classic mode and it’s enough to be challenging. Typically if I don’t pass the first time I will the second or third time. The levels are very thoughtfully laid out. Love that there is an easy mode for more casual learning and classic mode for advanced musicians. I have really enjoyed challenging myself and retraining my ear with this app! Show more

Best ear training app by far
I’ve used nearly every popular ear training app (cost me a good amount! But I wanted to find the best). This is the best one in my opinion and I’m honestly amazed it isn’t the most popular one. From level design to aesthetic design, complete ear trainer is the best I’ve used so far. Every other ear training app I’ve played has some problems—limited drill types, bad sound quality, progression too easy, lack of guidance/badly paced “courses,” etc. This apps level design is impressively thoughtful and works amazingly well. And the variety and customizability in the custom drills is amazing—how many apps out there allow you to train aus chords and all manner of 7th, 9th, 11th chords with inversions, not to mention training in every type of scale you could imagine. As an aspiring jazz piano player this was a dream app! I find it unfortunate the difficulty of the app has turned some off, when it is just a sign the developer is making sure you are doing ear training the right way, which takes time. There are other apps in which I saw faster improvement in the app but it did not translate as well to my musicianship as my improvement in this app. One of the things that amazes me most about the app is that it’s the most professionally designed and implemented of the ear training apps I’ve used, both aesthetically and functionally. Super impressive stuff! I’m so happy with how much I’ve improved over the course of this app. And the difficulty of the app makes the improvements feel so satisfying and cemented. One addition I would recommend is adding other instruments. The tone quality of the piano is so good compared to other apps and I am a pianist so it is helpful in that sense, but it would be nice to change it up sometimes to test my ear when it comes to instruments with different timbres. Of course I understand it takes some work to get things like this up to the standards of the rest of the app. Show more

    Every musician should have this
I love this app. This is awesome. I’ve had big trouble with intervals training, but this brilliant app survive me.???
