    ok.
free version is super obnoxious with the ads. i kind of liked the sound though, so i upgraded to pro. not much in the way of extra features there. still like the base sound synthesizer, so as a simple noisemaker it is kind of fun, but it has a LOT of that microclickiness/glitching at the start/end of sounds played, regardless of attack setting, making it of limited use. feels a little slopped together overall. the sound is cool enough that it could be a good app with a bit of developer TLC, but in its current state ... eh. An add blocks like a fourth of the view of the app
Not exactly but it's blocking enough of what is essential to synthesis. I recommend the moog model 15 for 30 dollars if you want to get into some synthesis that you can actually see. I get that it's a free app and all but come on with the add blocking that much of the screen is that really necessary? There are plenty of free apps that don't over spam with ads. And I am not rating this one star. Negative one would be more accurate. Show more

    Just Crashes
App will open for half a second then crash. So for me useless. Bummed.

    Frequent Problems
The Core Synth is a good idea, a cheap and simple subtractive synthesizer for your ipad. Unfortunately the app crashed frequently and rarely produced sound. The biggest problem was the lack of sound really. Show more

Like my old Yamaha CS 30
This thing really reminds me of the old CS series synths by Yamaha before they did the dx7. Very cool to ,really great ,..if you get the pro version . Peace christo Show more

    5 Stars--but...
...needs audiobus support and really a lot of other touches. Could sell for $5 or more with improvements. So it depends on how motivated the creators are...alas.

    Support MIDI please
Perfectly passable simple mono synth app, but not practical for live or even a home studio really without midi.

Not quite cooked as a learning app or a synth
I was looking for a synth similar to the Octave Kat that served as my first synth so I could teach my 4 year old sound design. (That's not as crazy as it may sound). Unfortunately this little app lacks a few things I would want... Detuning on both osc's would have been nice, the fine tuning was hard to control (never could dial in a value less than 4 and that was a pain), you can't seem to map anything but an LFO to the mod wheel (my first thought is to use the mod wheel to alter the filter), no noise!?! That's a crying shame, the best part of learning synthesis is making spooky wind and thunder sounds... Heh. The graphics are a bit meh, seems like it could have been a bit more vintage looking, but that's me being picky. The bottom line is that it generally it sounds weak and less than impressive. What?
With the last update my app got reset to the free module, despite previously paying for it. Now i have adds that run across the controls and I can't save any presets. I lost a bunch that i had previously saved. Less than awesome. Show more

Worth every penny I paid for it.

    Please add MIDI
This is a fun little synth, but is not very usable without the ability to use a control surface. Please add Midi.

    Surprise! It's a synth!
Imagine that! a basic waveform, two-osc, synth without all those messy effects nor a dumb LFO and stuff. It may not be the cure for insomnia but it's a close second. Three stars because it's competently designed and executed - in other words, it worked. Show more

    No Sound
This app worked fine until one day it had no sound. I updated with no luck. Still no sound. Either fix it or give me my $1.99 back.

    Must Fix Osc Octave Text!!!
First off, it's a very useful teaching tool. A very simple visual layout of the basic tools needed for subtractive synthesis. Novice synth explorers can get comfortable quickly. But... The numbering system for the Oscillator Octaves is backwards. 16' is supposed to be the Lowest Octave and 1' should be the Highest Octave. (On a real pipe organ,a 16' pipe is much lower in pitch than a 1' pipe. That's where these values came from.) Show more

    Just like all the others
No midi in/out and sounds genaric just like all the other Allen Porter based synths out there...want the exact same sounds for free? Just search around for any free synth bassed off the same source code from Allen Porter...nobody seems to change anything but the GUI so they all sound the same. Show more

    No sound
Does not actually make any sound. This is on an iPad 2, and everything else is working just fine. Also volume button when in the application appears to be a complete no-op. Show more
