    Love it!
Have used it for the past five years, and am so glad I got it. To me, some of the best features are how it deals with the everyday situations of poor-quality scales and raising pitch. It can take a poorly designed string scale, and with subsequent tunings keep measuring acoustic information and calculate a tuning that will “iron out” problems. The overpull function yields an incredibly accurate tuning, and has saved me untold hours of work. A great tool for the tuner who tunes for a living Show more

It’s all about what’s under the hood
I love the Verituner. One of its most unique features is that there are several programable components that will help you style your tunings. These different changeable variables empower you to employ your own taste. If you are a practiced aural tuner— this is great. There are temperament options (including custom definable temperaments). While tuning, there are automatic Inharmonicity stretch calculations running throughout the tuning process until no more information on partials can be gathered by the app, and finally a “ style “ option, which effects how to handle the collected data from the partials it hears. There are a few good EPT machines and apps. I used a Sanderson accutune machine for a number of years with great results. For the apps, Tune lab costs less and RCT costs more. I found it difficult to decide on one so I downloaded the user manuals of all three knowing they can all do a great job. RCT has a very friendly looking graphic UI, but I could not see how any of these others, within their literature, could compare with the number of variables and variations you can employ in the Verituner app. It’s worth tinkering with and understanding how each variable effects the outcome, and after a few months I’m really getting amazing results, and can alter the style of my tunings to suit the customers needs. Professional tuning software
I am a piano technician by trade, I trained at a school who had the developer of this software teach us a class all about it and the math behind it. Let me tell you, it is highly sophisticated and worth its weight in gold. In the school we used it to test our aural tunings and it did that amazingly. Using a spreadsheet on the computer we were able to input numbers of our tunings measured and saved with the Verituner, and the spreadsheet gave us a graph of exactly where our mistakes were and how bad they were! Very useful for a budding tuner. Using the software to tune a piano I can do 4+ pianos in a day (depending on their proximity to one another!), and I am ALWAYS satisfied with the results. I am a professional, and this does its job without breaking a sweat, makes me look great, and has taken my tuning time from 2 hours to 1, except for the occasional pitch raise. There is practically no setup, and you have the option to tune in a wide variety of temperaments which is great because I also work on harpsichords, fortepianos and other historical instruments. As well as having the ability to save tunings which honestly I don’t use much. But I could if I wanted to! If you are serious about piano tuning and want the proper software to do it well, improve your craft, and diversify your toolbox, this is definitely it. It will pay for itself in short order. I owe much of my success in the business to the skills I’ve developed using the Verituner and the people who showed me how to use it. Show more

    Excellent
Let's be clear... tuning a piano is extremely difficult. Even with the best tools it requires extreme focus and patience. That being said, in my experience this is the best electric piano tuner out there. The forum is also an excellent resource. Email the developer if you have any issues and my experience has been that they are very responsive. Great work on this one. Worth every penny Show more

    Very good tunings!
Works great. I only tune my own pianos and used tune lab for a long time. My friend told me about this one and I decided to take the plunge. It does a great job. I like the end result tuning a little better than tune lab. I don't know if it's worth $300+ more, but I'll get a lot of turnings out of this, and if I'm going to spend the time doing them, I may as well do them the best way available to me. This seems to me to be the best. It works across devices, too. I prefer the iPhone, but iPad works great, too. Show more

    very helpful
I read a book on piano tuning and after a few years practice was able to do a passable job on my own piano, but using Verituner I can make it sound great! It really does what is says it will do. I will still have my piano professionally tuned every year (at my skill level it is still too much work), but this will allow me to keep it sounding great year-round. Show more

Wow, wonderful. I've been a big box user for several years, this is even easier to see and it seems to be more responsive

    EXCELLENT PRODUCT
I am an amateur pianinst and very amateur PT. I read a few books on tuning but was not confident in my ability without having had any supervised training. After much hand wringing, I decided to buy Verituner and see if I could do it. Long story short, I did it! It took me several hours but it was fun and interesting, and the results (imo) are very very good to my ears. I am sure I will improve after more experience with the app and obtaining a quality hammer. I am also looking forward to experimenting with the different temperaments in the app. The software is easy to use and very well explained in the downloadable user's guide (I recommend reading this before starting.) Simply a fantastic product for amateurs and pros alike. Show more

Great Piano Tuning App for Professional Tuners
This app is for professional piano tuners and helps produce great sounding piano tunings! Highly recommended!

    This is a great app!
As an early adopter of the original Verituner VT-100 tuning device in 2001, I can whole-heartedly recommend this app for the professional and aspiring piano technician. It boots up instantly, no more waiting for the software to load. It takes a little getting used to using the touchscreen instead of punching buttons, but once you get use to it, it is very intuitive to use. I was a little worried at first about not being able to transfer my old tuning files to my iPhone, but I have found that even a brand new tuning sounds as good or maybe even better than a tuning with my VT-100. The bright color screen is easier on the eyes; I can tune 4-5 pianos without a recharge; it weighs ounces instead of pounds; and the app cost a lot less than my VT-100. If you own an iPhone and are a piano technician, do yourself a favor, cough up the bucks and make the investment in yourself and in your business. Show more

    Simply the best
There is nothing like this for a piano. Some people might think a free guitar tuning app will work buy they are mistaken. The piano has to many ringing harmonics for a simple app like that. Verituner is accurate and fast. Show more

    A bargain at the price!
I know there are those who will have sticker shock: perhaps this is not the right app for them - it might be overkill. The Verituner is very sophisticated, essentially doing a spectral analysis on every note to understand its characteristics and then computing a target based on other parameters you set. My old VT100 cost almost three times as much, weighs nearly four pounds, and has a slow, dim screen I can barely read. This is faster, much more portable, and a lot easier on the eyes. Although intended for pianos, I have found this to be the only digital tuner that works well with clavichords. I have used the Verituner to tune harpsichords for many years with very good results. Likewise with fortepianos. You don't need this to tune your guitar, but for more complex stringed instruments (and I'm guessing instruments like pipe organs), there is nothing like this. Show more

    Great Software
This software outshines the competition in that it identifies the correct note quite fast. Other products do not do this very well. It is usually necessary to select the correct note on the device first but Verituner identifies just about any pitch correctly. I own another product which I also think is great but I wont name it here. I like having both. I just tuned my own piano using Verituner, and compared the tuning to a previous aural tuning stored on another device, and the result was remarkably close. I really like the interface, and the software includes many different temperaments and tuning styles. If you are not a professional technician, but would like to learn to tune your own piano because you find it fascinating, I suggest contacting a local technician affiliated with the PTG, and hiring the person for a few lessons. Simply getting software like this is not going be sufficient, and you may need to hire a technician anyway. Show more

    Outstanding
This is truly an outstanding and very sophisticated app. I took a chance and bought it hoping that I would be able to experiment with historical temperaments on my piano (Steinway B). I am an amateur pianist and have no training in piano tuning. To my amazement, with a little research on tuning technique and practice tuning unisons for a few weeks, I was able to get a very nice tune the first time! Much better than many I have paid for. I can now not only touch up the tuning on my piano every week or so, but I have the ability to tune it with temperaments that few tuners know anything about. Show more

Great Replacement for the Black Box
This is the best tuning software I have found. I have the Verituner Black Box, but it is quite slow at note switching and calculating compared to this software. Verituner for iPhone is fast and much easier to use. Sits on the piano nicely. I now have a tuning device that keeps up with my tuning technique. I have been tuning pianos full time for 33 years and this is a breath of fresh air. Show more
