    Incredible app
This app is an unbelievable tool when it comes to writing and exporting MIDI drum tab. From blast beats to off-time funky beats this app does it all. As good as Tabit IMO. Works well with Reaper. A must have tool for those recording their own music. Show more

    Time Signatures!
I tried many other apps, and this is the only one I tried that can change the time signature of the pattern, the step view, and the metronome. Other apps want to just give you a different number of steps, but it still looks like 4 beats, or it will not change the accents in the metronome, or it is just 4/4 all the way. Drum studio does it all. Also it may be hard to tell, but you can build songs apart from just the 4 patterns that you can see. Show more

Way Better Than a Drum Machine
There are now some great apps for realistic drums on iOS. This is still one of the very best! You want flams, ghosts, cymbal chokes, drags, open/closed/foot hats, and rolls? You've got them here, each in three flavors for each kit, in addition to velocity simulation, plus lots of different kit pieces (somewhat hidden) and time signatures. Complete set of audio/MIDI/tab import and export options. Show more

Useful for basics, lacks a few features.
PROs: flexible tempo & meters per pattern logical decent implementation of special drum strokes drum tabs easy to use practice tool CONs: quality & quantity of samples is not great can't import samples (?) no velocity switched samples (?) no pinch zoom for complex meters or divisions I don't like it as much as Drum Perfect, but might find the drum tab functions useful. Best App For Actual Drummers
This app is amazing. Worth every penny. You can create beats with lifelike kits and save them. I've used it to quickly transcribe beats from songs, create fills, write down practice patterns, transcribe patterns that I'm having a hard time playing, etc. if you're a drummer, you NEED this app. Show more

    GREAT App for Drummers
EXACTLY what I was looking for. Very easy to use to create and modify beats and fills. Also east to import and export to various formats. You can use as a practice tool as well. I loaded some exercises from a workbook I'm studying, and played them on a loop through my headphones as I'm playing on my kit. Can slow down the BPM to work on a lick, then gradually increase the speed as you get it figured out. Things I would like to see in future releases: -ability to vary the pitch and sustain for the individual drums and cymbals, not just the mix volume. -ability to add multiple crashes, splashes, rides, China's, etc -ability to write and/or convert to standard music notation (not just drum tabs) Show more

    Great app!
This is a great drum app. The developer is always updating it. Simple, intuitive UI. It's becoming my fav drum app.

    Simple and very useful
If you are slow-witted like myself, you will find this app a breeze to use. It does all I want it to. You can really make some articulated beats of varying velocities, and swing the crap out of them to give it a more "human" feel. Build a song, section by section, then export the entire thing into an audio copy clip to paste into your daw for the drum part of your song. If I could ask for one thing (two actually), it would be the ability to load my own drum samples and to be able to load velocity matched samples for each level of velocity (soft sample for drags, medium for a normal hit, hard sample for accents), since drums don't just simply get louder the harder you hit them, but the sound alters significantly. They sort of "blossom" in tone. Show more

    Love it
Ok, first off, I am no drummer. I mainly play guitar. Just wanted a drum machine, that was easy to set up and sounded good. I play mostly christian praise and worship, some old classic rock, a wee bit of blues and jazz. And I have a ton of drum apps, guitar apps, synths, midi stuff, DAWs....A ton. I like to use them at home to play along with. I love this app, it sounds great and is so easy to port drum tabs to. If there is no tab to find I can easily make my own. This, I can see is going to be a great "go to" app. I have many drum machine apps from DM1 to Drumjam, drumperfect, which I love too. Drumstudio was an instant winner for me, as one of the ones to get. It sounds great too. I hate paying for apps only to never use them. This one will be used. Show more

    Excellent Update!
This is really one of the top apps in the store for creating a drum track. Fast, intuitive workflow, and a well thought out, clean interface. Good included samples, and MIDI capabilities to leverage other samples too. Odd time signatures, flexible grid for tuplets, articulations such as flams, drags, ghost hits. It's all in there! The new features like export MIDI directly to another app are very welcome too. Just an all around great app. Show more

    Swiss-Army Knife for Drum Tracks
I overlooked this app at first. There are some good drum machine apps in the App Store (DM1 is quite popular). But most of them are focused on non-acoustic drums and really require prior knowledge of drumming to program them usefully. DrumStudio is great. So many options for creating and exporting drum tracks. You can record a pattern manually, or program on a grid. I love the variation in hit strength, flams, rolls, etc. Copies easily with AudioCopy/Paste or AudioBus. The secret weapon of this thing is the ability to import a tab part for a song and generate a track from that. Works FAR better than you might expect, and is actually a cool learning tool to see how familiar drum parts are represented graphically. Also love the small file size and it seems to be less of a resource hog than other drum apps. Nice work! Show more

Helping songwriting tool. Powerful features. A+ support.
I use this app to program drums to export into Auria via Audiobus or pasteboard. The interface is snappy enough for live recording, but I usually draw parts into the grid measure by measure. The sounds are passable--good enough for demos, sure, but I'm hoping to see other kits become available as the app grows. Where DrumStudio really shines is the compositional flexibility. All my songs tend to have a least a few odd-meter phrases, if not complete sections. DS lets me insert these wherever I need them: a measure of 7|8 here, 5|4 there, etc. The layout takes some getting used to, but as someone who has put in the time to learn DS, I'm glad I did. To top it all off, dev support has been bar none. I e-mailed the developer about an issue I was having with a file I had saved, and within the hour I got a personal response telling me how to work around it. Soon after that I got another personal e-mail telling me an update had been released to resolve the issue. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Show more

Very easy with odd time signatures & tempo changes
I hardly ever review apps, but I had to with this one. This is one of only a very few drum apps that can handle odd time signatures, and it is the ONLY one that makes it soooooo easy to put complex syncopated patterns together, including time signature and tempo changes within a song. The UI is very intuitive, lots of save options (as sections like verse1, chorus1, bridge, etc and as whole songs), and the patterns can be as simple or complex as you want, I put together some cool stuff in 7/8 within five minutes of downloading. Can import and export MIDI files for touching up in the DAW of your choice, has MIDI out to drive other drum synths/samplers, and plays nicely with Audiobus. Dropbox support would be great, the dev is really responsive and hopefully will add this in a future update. I can do similar drum track creation in LogicPro, but not nearly as easily nor as fast - on the go with a phone or tablet, this is far and away the easiest drum app to get creative with. As a progressive metal guitarist, i have tried out many drum apps to jam along with that looked promising but when you got to know them, ended up stuck in 4-time. Not this one. Very easy to get creative with this app. GET IT NOW! Show more

    Best Drum App hands down
It takes a while to get songs lined up if you are trying to replicate a songs drum track, but it's great for those who use Garage band and you need a customized drum track for a song you are working on. The fact that you can upload the midi track to your computer is great. This app has potential, I wish there were updates to it. This app is the best one on here hands down. I wish the creator of the program realised that this app does way more than any other drum apps out there. Update please with more drum kits! Show more

    Amazing
UNBELIEVABLE. seriously. I didn't know anything like this existed. To anyone wondering, you can import tabs from the Internet, and this will show you what's happening visually. I haven't even played with it yet but I just imported my first song and almost peed my pants. Show more
