Tried to run this on a brand new macbook air M2 and it simply crashes. You cannot shut down the program from the menu bar because you just get the spinning ball of death. It does not show up in the finder to "Force Quit," and by this time Apple Music is not responding. Tried reinstalling it-twice. The program simply did not work and for me it was a complete waste!! This used to be great software, but the last update was over two years ago - for Catalina. No updates since, and nothing for M1 Macs. I sent an email to the developer to inquire about compatibility with current Big Sur and Monterey OS and received no response. Which is sad, because I prefer using iTunes and this (along with DSDMaster) made listening to DSD recordings possible, and made everything else much better. I'll put this up to 5 stars if he ever updates it. But for now, I wouldn't recommend it. Show more

It still works with macOS 12.1 and Music.app 1.2.1.40, but the icon in the Menu Bar is off-center. Please, please, please maintain this app!

This doesn't appear to be supported in Monterey. The developer's website link for techical assistance does not work. Worked well years ago, but not anymore.

It is my understanding that this app is supposed to set the midi digital audio settings for playback based on the individual tracks played in iTunes or Apple Music. However, it is not changing the resolution reaching my DAC at all. I even attempted to have it upsample, but nothing. It is still playing back whatever sample rate is set in midi, and I am still having to manually change the setting in midi, myself. Not worth the $10.00. Show more

Unfortunately doesn't work for Big Sur and Apple music lossless at all, Basically just auto launches apple music and that is all it does. I don't think the Dev is coming back. Show more

RIP the dream. Used to be a great app for bumping my audio quality up, but the issues outweighted the benefits over time. update: tried it on Big Sur....still awful, still says "itunes" despite being updated for Apple Music; DOESNT WORK for Apple Music tracks or even AAC rips, only MP3s. Hog Mode wasn't there,,,no color changing,,,whatever ,it dosent work an all!!!!hope u guys can fix it

From what I understand, this app used to be excellent. But Apple's constant OS revisions kept chipping away at its functionality until, finally, with the release of Big Sur, it doesn't do anything but open/close/stop/start the Music app. The App is busted as is. Show more

Since the release of Big Sur, BitPerfect seems to be unsupported. Some UI and functional bugs have cropped up but there hasn't been an update in several years. Also the developer no longer responds to reported issues. Show more

I bought as a work around for the insessant skipping Music does now, does not the remedy for that, just save your money. hasen't been updated in 1.5 years. promsing but a no go. Show more

I bought this as a recommendation from Paul - PS Audio , I can't hear the different from playing iTunes with out it, what I do hear it a-lot of glitches and nonsense. I have better luck with Audirvana although it is also not perfect with glitches from time to time. I guess it is working great for some people , not for me. Show more

I've used BitPerfect satisfactorily for several years. I use it both on my Macbook Pro and on my Mac Mini music server. Unfortunately it no longer works well since Catalina. With Big Sur it completely crashes the Mac Mini. Hoping to see an update, but in the meantime looking for an alternative. Show more

There is no color change of the icon whatever format I play. It is black in light mode, white in dark mode in MacOS 11.0.1.

I recently loaned a friend my DAC and was reminded just how powerful BitPerfect is. The sound (to my friend) was significantly better, but I kept thinking that a good software solution would have allowed the DAC to sound better. When I got home, I took a look at my BitPerfect settings, referenced the manual, and noodled around some more. As the developer notes, it takes patience: What sounds good might cause problems elsewhere. I might end up going back to previous settings, but no other software I know of allows the simple, easy, detailed control of audio while maintaining iTunes as an interface. I can use the iTunes remote on my phone and easily listen to superb quality audio easily with no issues except those I create myself. Show more

Long ago, this app was actively developed and it worked great. Today it feels old and neglected, which is really sad because it was so useful and well done...

This program improves audio if you have a high-end system to hear it. Worked at first, then I had to go into the apple store yesterday and have spent 10 hours fixing problems this program caused. Even after uninstalling bitperfect program, still no fix. Apple prescribed a full system restore as only way to fix the problems caused to root. Doing a full system restore fixed problem. I then tried re-installing the program, just in case, because I enjoyed the sound quality. Audio quit again, today I need to do complete system restore again. Won't install for 3rd time. To Developer - Please issue a refund for purchase price To Apple - Please remove this program from the App Store. Far below the minimum acceptable standards. This is endorsing and encouraging people to pay for a program that ruins the hardware/software experience you worked to create. Dont buy. Buy anything else instead. Using Mac OS Catalina it configures my USB audio device to the right sample rate and usually (but not always) handles gapless playback when I enabled Fixed Index mode.

BitPerfect worked well for a few days, but after I performed the latest Mac system update, it stopped working.

Won't work with Catalina. I have contacted for support on several occassions with no reply.
