    Dead in the water
This app had so much potential and it seems they just let it fade to obscurity when it could’ve been the best sounds module app on iOS! The sounds are awesome! But unless you’re just a live keyboard performer looking for a library of sounds to choose from, this app is a headache. Not integration with other iOS music apps through the typical protocols. No possible way to mix out instrument tracks…relatively expensive sound packs! If they simply made an AUV3 update that would put this app on par with other sound module apps. But without it…it just makes this a waste of storage as I can implement it in ANY of my current projects. What a waste of possibilities! Show more

    Shame
Do you (some reviewers before me) really believe what you’re saying? That “it sounds fantastic”? Is it a joke? I give some credit (hence the one star) for IK Multimedia for trying. But the quality is so low, I almost felt nauseated after I purchased it and played the sounds for about 5 minutes. Have you ever heard good quality and well balanced sampled instruments? Like a Korg Kronos or a Yamaha Motif XF or even a Roland Fantom X? The workstations of yesteryears? We are talking about 10-15 years old models, right? This ST app is a miserable mistake of the developer or an ugly insult to any serious musician, ladies and gentlemen. Did you hear the “Grand piano” patch? One sample per every fifth? Or octave, and then the sustain loops? And maybe two velocity layers of samples at the very max? I’m not even a pianist, I just fool around with synths, but that, my friends, is unacceptable in 2021. I get it that it costs only $25, but there are excellent sounding apps out there (D1, FM1, etc.) for less. Well, they are not aiming to be multitimbral romplers, as ST is, though! The only reason I gave it a shot in spite the mixed reviews and 2.8 rating (thanks for the honesty of some guys!) was that hardware modules are not available anymore. And I prefer hardware. Maybe the Roland Integra 7. It’s $1,800, but it is the real deal, so I’m pulling the trigger. Plus, I had one before, so I know what I’m getting. But this app, once again, made me upset. Not about wasting $25, but about how much lower can we set the bar in an effort to “satisfy” everyone and make this utter garbage available and affordable for young and maybe otherwise totally talented users. Shame, shame, shame … Show more

    Very deceptive "promotion"
Not sure why their website claims in app instruments are on sale while still showing full price in app! I'm not going to dive in head first trusting that the discount will get honored when most likely it will not! Also, the prices have no list of what you'll actually receive! They just seem to want to just charge without explaining what exactly you're paying for! ABSURD!!! ONE STAR!!! Show more

    Good bye Sampletank
I’m definitely deleting this after I write this. It was great and I loved it when I bought it when it came out, but it’s obsolete now and I wouldn’t buy it today. I can pretty much get the same sounds from other apps that are audio units and I’m 100% this will never become an audio unit. I never use it now and it’s just wasting space on my IPad Show more

    Important App!
This is a great sounding app of multi sampled instruments. I have invested a lot in it. Hope to see it as an Audio Unit instrument soon. Interapp Audio has been extremely useful. Show more

    Not satisfied with sample quality.
I purchased SampleTank based on reviews and YouTube video demonstrations. However, after installing and purchasing the full default instrument set;I am disappointed with the quality of all the samples i've heard in this app. In a word, unrefined. The audio noob may not detect the difference, but the well-seasoned musician will hear it immediately. There is a lot of noise in these samples; meaning the actual true sound has not been well-isolated in the recording method. *iOS music creators are looking for instrument samples and patches of extraordinary quality and uniqueness. While SampleTank has a lot of different functions, unfortunately (in my opinion) it does none of them well. I would advise the developer to greatly increase the sample quality and usability of the app. SampleTank competes directly with GarageBand and Korg Gadget. That is a daunting task indeed, for both of those softwares have nailed the sound quality aspect. Garbage in / Garbage out. Show more

    Over-priced money grab
Look elsewhere. Basically same as GarageBand Symphonic ‘packs’ are over priced and no refunds allowed. Be warned. Stay away unless you like wasting your money. 0 stars. Show more

Warning DO NOT BUY Pricing Manipulation and No Updates
The sounds are good and I will allow you your faith ( the object that tells you everything is going to be ok ) but the price YOU pay for it carries consequences you cannot fathom. I have given hundreds of what obviously is your faith and I hope you enjoy your temporary happiness. Give me the rest of what I paid for. I bought the app, the expanded, the pro, the grid, Miroslaw 1 and 2, the entire sonic synth package, cinematic percussion, orchestral percussion and the american acoustic. I have shaded choices in the instruments as well as shaded keys on instruments that can go further up or down the scales. Do not press me to use my voice further. On top of a narcotic users character , all the samples are popping still on 13.3 Show more

    Sounds great...but....
This app has a lot of great sounds and features. I was surprised that you can do quite complicated layers and splits, which is awesome. It's so close to being great. However... The "multis" have a lot of issues which essentially make this app unusable for live shows. Reordering is wonky - it swaps the positions instead of moving the item. Also, opening multis from other phones will prevent them from being re ordered at all. And the default order isn't even alphabetical - it appears random. If the ordering of multis were fixed I would give this app a 5/5 rather than 1/5. Show more

    Tragic
Feels kind of tragic to me. All I wanted was an iOS version of what we used to call a ROMpler—a solid collection of instrument samples in all the major categories, and this really could be a good one. I have an extensive collection of IK and third party SampleTank sounds on my computer and find they are pretty darn good. I feel the starter sound set here is a bit scant and the additional ones quite expensive for an app that does support AU—I would feel differently about the pricing in there were AU support. I knew going in that it didn’t support AU, but I thought perhaps I could use IAA or the onboard sequencer to get some work done and then export audio to my iOS DAW of choice, but this sequencer is a scratch pad at very best. Only records in 4/4, and you can only delete entire parts, not sections of a part.No MIDI editing. So it is a non-starter. Tried using it as a plugin in Beatmaker and it was a disaster. If you are going to try to lock your users into your sequencer it should be a thoughtful competitive one, I would think. IK, there is a big gaping need for a ROMpler sound collection, and yours could be it, but it is not. Until such time as this is as AU, it was a waste of my money and drive space. Show more

Good sounds... 2 bad you can’t use them
The sounds are more than decent... unfortunately it seems the developer wants you to use the app exclusively. Too bad it lacks basic sequencer features and has no plug in support. Developers didn’t update to the Audiobus 3 sdk so now all that money I spent on in app purchases (<$100) is practically useless. Audiobus 2 is not even available any more so I’m just stuck with an 80s style sequencer where you can’t even edit notes and that blows. Make it a complete production environment or make it work with other apps otherwise quit! Show more
