Needs to reload file library every time
App is great in it's simplicicty and look but seems to stop playing files every so often until you rescan the library. Other than that it would have been perfect. simple and elegant. But this makes it impossible to actually use. Perhaps once you fix this we can start giving it 5 stars? Show more

    Great Little Fast Music Player
Love the speed and simplicty of this free player.

    Folder-based
It's surprisingly strange how difficult it is now a days to find a music player that lets you sort your own music collection and browse your folders. This does it. The rest is simple and clean. Could use more features but it does what is needed amazingly well. Show more

Blasted my Speakers with High Energy High Impulse
Installed. It suggested it load from my "Music" folder. I allowed that. After many minutes it reported 12,000 or so items were loaded and 4,000 items could use updating by another of their applications called FineTunes. I declined to used FineTunes. I sent a folder to the playlist. Items loaded there. Hit spacebar to play. BLASTs of high energey high frequency impulses hit my speakers as the indicator skipped over tracks in the playlist. It finally stopped mid-play list. I turned the volume down and tried again. Same BLASTS. No removing this dangerous player. Show more

For such a bare-bones app, it’s quite convoluted
PROS: Fetches lyrics from Genius.com (the only reliable lyrics site); Great column-based detail view (Arist bio, album detail, song lyrics, side-by-side) CONS: Few standard keyboard control (for the very few features that even have key commands) and, NO universal keyboard confrols (doesn’t work with FN+play/pause/ff/rwd); no rhyme or reason I can discren for the order in which the Artists tab is organized; too easy to inadvertently add things to playlist; no way I can find to remove said things; no preferens; and isn’t even recognized by the Now Playing widget in the Notifications Center. My quest for a viable iTunes alternative cintinue. Show more

    This doesn’t work.
It doesn’t work. Like straight up, doesn’t do anything. Found all my files from Logic though, but 0 mp3’s I have.

    The Appilcation crashes alot
It also can't handle huge amouts of songs. I have my music on external drive and I unmounted it and then mounted the drive again and not it will not play any of the songs and crashes when I try to play anything. I like some somethings about it. But I need to find another app. I hate Apple Music app more. I might have to write my own app if this is the best out there. Show more

    Blazingly Fast But Lacks Features
I know - the more features the more likely to be sluggish! But I would trade some of the near-instantaneous speed of Musique for: 1. ability to search with multiple criteria: composer, performer, work. For example, it is impossible to find just Beethoven Piano Sonatas. 2. Some kind of manual. For example, when I add music files on my computer to the folder selected in Musique, are new additions automatically added - or do I need to scan? What if I have music in more than 1 locations? 3. If a vile is a video, it would be nice to at least know the, even if the audio is playing. I have a mix of video and audio and can tell which is which. Still, it is nice to have a piece of software so fast, and which just works without problems. Show more

    No album shuffle
A music player with no album shuffle is a non-starter.

    Amateur Hour
There is no attention to detail in this software. Some examples: The Play icon does not change from an arrow to the Pause icon once you click it the first time, thus falsely representing the action of your next click on the icon. There is only one sort layer, so there is no way to sort by Artist first and then by Year within the artist's albums. There are no options for size of artwork, overlay text being turned off or on, etc. No right-click behavior. Does not read imbedded artwork. Basically, this is just another mediocre piece of software Show more

    probably the "safest" music player
Wanna make sure you won't mess up your music collection? even if you wanted to, you can't! Why? Because all the functions that you can use are Play, double-click a selected item or drag items from the 4 avaialble categories: artist/album/genre or folder into the playlist section on the right, and use the Rewind, Forward and Play again to pause. the " i " button, is only functional after starting to play a track, and takes you to the current playing song's info window (the second screenshot with J. Hendrix) to show the following info in 3 columns (info is downloaded from the internet while scanning your music library, from Last.FM): artist's picture and Bio, album cover and info and playing song's lyrics - that's it! although aesthetically presented, it's static with no options to configure/customize or browse, like songs or albums by the same artist. only a "Read More" that opens up a web browser to continue reading. and is ONLY available for the CURRENTLY PLAYING song and ONLY about the playing song, even if you select another item from the library. each category, is displayed as tiles with artwork, and when in the album's view, you get a white text list on a black background with the album name + the track list structured: 01 song name, 02 song name... that's it! no other info or artwork, not even song duration or album year! If you are a music collector or an average fan that have your album covers, your only added features are the info in the info window and Last.FM scobbling (if you use the service). There's no rating items or even creating playlists. this app is suitable for people that has music files, but no album covers that are ok with just basic functions of Play, FW and one active playlist. there isn't any access to the actual files, metadata or any other feature. oh, and if you hoped that it will organize or add artwork, info or lyrics to your library - it doesn't - only available through the app. Side Note: I would like to address that the complaints aren't towards the developers. they could probably make a much better player if there weren't so many restrictions and limitations from Apple to a point that apps are being dumbed down so bad, that using Spotify, Pandora, etc.. on a phone has more features than a music player on a desktop! and every new operating system is more limited, limiting and obfuscated than engaging and inviting. Apple says it's more secure - sure, because no one can change or access anyting - including the owner or the administrator! It's August, 2019 and there isn't a single decent MacOS music player! my last favorite one (and most everyone else back then) was, Winamp 20 years ago, and even back then, it was more capable than what we got today, really? Program is entirely in Greek
Tried this on my macOS computer (which is and always has been in US English), and the program opened entirely in Greek. It's Greek to me. I couldn't use it.

    Magical Music Manipulator
IMHO, a perfect iTunes replacement — especially when Playlists do not sync or get imported.

    Lame
Tested it on a new MBP OSX High Sierra with a dozen songs from a variety of genres in my iTunes Library. Won’t show most of the cover art. It also freezes up—and keeps playing music—when I try to stop playback so it requires a force quit. Pathetic. Musique is dead to me. Show more

no substitute for gmusicbrowser on linux
Was recommended as macos alternative to gmusicbrowser, a linux app for large music libraries. Not in the same universe. - incredibly slow to scan a collection - very little sorting/filtering ability - playback screwups frequent enough to wonder if i’m running windows Bah. Show more

Crash log: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib Referenced from: /Applications/Musique.app/Contents/MacOS/Musique Reason: image not found This usually happens when application is compiled with wrong parameters (in terms of compatibility with older OS). There is a way to complise missing libc++.1.dylib on Snow Leopard, but it's not easy it all. Show more
