    Great app
Exactly what I have been looking for to introduce the orchestra to my students

    Could be a great app
The screen does not adjust properly...will not rotate and, moreover, only part of the graphics are displayed. Please fix!

Great for my son who likes all sorts of sounds made by different instruments
He loves to hear and make all kinds of sounds this app brings to my child. He loves playing the memory card game! Also this is good for training young ears to recognize proper notes (doesn't sound off tune like other kiddie music apps we've had before). Show more

    Pretty Good
This app works pretty well. I'm using it with students in my classroom learning orchestra families, and they are able to hear and see the different instruments in the orchestra. I'm looking forward to using the games, but unfortunately they don't do me any good until I have finished teaching all the instrument families. I would love to be able to select just a few instruments to quiz over so I can use the games before teaching all the families. I suppose that would be my only request. Other than that, this is a great app. Thanks. Show more

As entertaining as it is educational
Works great on my two first generation iPads. My four and six year olds both love it. Great music selections, games. Sure bet. If it's crashing, try restarting your iPad. Show more

    Crashes
Couldn't even open the app. Disappointing. Money back, please.

    Thumbs up from pre-schoolers
I used this app in my pre-school music class as an introduction to our 5-week study of the orchestra - they loved it and so did I! It was slightly difficult for them to see because of the a glare on the screen, but after we dimmed the classroom lights, it was clearly visible. Show more

    Exactly what was called for
I wanted an app that would introduce my four year-old daughter to the instruments of the orchestra in preparation for her first trip to the symphony. I thought this app was more than adequate, with lots of well-chosen sound samples that go with each instrument. I like the quiz features and so do my children (the 2.5 year-old too!). It could be improved by having movie clips of people playing the instruments. Also there could be animations of how they are built and/or played. The strings are depicted only as individual instruments but since the orchestra almost always uses them in groups, I would like to see a few sound samples go at it that way. It would also be great if there were some tracks where the orchestral instruments played symphonic pieces together. But it's a great start and exactly what I hoped would exist. Show more

    Stopped working
This app was lovely until it got stuck on the piano section. Now it doesn't even open. Very annoying as there seems to be no recourse. Answers anyone?

Saxophone is not a brass instrument...
Decent app, but saxophone is a woodwind instrument, not a member of the brass family...

    Very Good but...
Glad I found a learn the instruments program with real sounds and real looking instruments! It is almost 5 stars, but Please, viola is pronounced vee-o-la! And the viola excerpt really could be better - reminds me of a viola joke... And please make the initial sound samples when the instrument is in a group a little longer, and add at least the English horn and piccolo. It would be nice to also have contrabassoon, bass clarinet and a few more percussion. Also in the US a cello is called a cello, violoncello is the Italian name. With a few fixes this will be a great app. Show more
