    I LOVE THIS APP!
It's very practical and useful! It has helped me identify frequencies a lot quicker for mixing, or problematic frequencies in your mix. I got it on my phone and now also on my Mac. I LOVE it. Show more

    Missing a Learning Section
I would give it 5 stars if there was a section to learn the frequencies because these quizzes do you no good if there isn't anything to build your knowledge with first. When will you be updating? Show more

    Please Add Practices
I have the iPhone version as well and I find the Practice option to be invaluable. Please add it to the Mac version so I can study for the quizes.

App is great. No practice option
The app is great and so far has been great for training the ear but I find it pretty annoying that there is no option to practice. The phone app offers this for a 3rd of the price of the computer version. Since I know that this already exists in the cheaper app it really bugs me that I paid way more for less functionality. They need to update the app or offer the phone app for free if you purchased the ‘full’ version on the computer. Show more

my music library does not work?
this app is a super helpful way to keep up my listening skills without having to go back to Golden Ears-- however, not very user friendly. it took me about five quizzes to realize how the "on" button for the eq worked (I thought my headphones were damaged because I couldn't hear any shifts), and the feature to use your own music library seems to not be working and I can't figure out how to trouble shoot/where to go to get help. I do not regret purchasing because I need the practice but not worth $15. Show more

    Invaluable
This app has proven a great resource. The hardest part of mixing for me is identifying tones I want to change by applying EQ in some way. I finally feel like I can start to hone in more easily, and undoubtedly, with some more training, I will hear what I should be hearing more quickly. That will take (and has already taken to some degree) a lot of guesswork and trial and erorr out of the process. I highly recommend this app to anyone working in audio. Show more

    Overpriced and unstable
This app is a great idea, and it looks great. However in the first 24 hours of use, it has crashed 10 times. Also, $10 is way too much for such a simple app that barely does anything. What you see in the screenshots is the full extent of the app. I regret my purchase. Show more

    Crashes
Version 5 of this app is very disappointing. It crashes several times a session and there are occational clicks and pops that can be distracting. I used previous versions on a daily basis for years without a single issue. Audiofile Engineering used to be very responsive to problems but now they seem like they no longer care or there’s simply no one in charge of Support. I’m guessing that the company has been abandoned and the users are left out in the cold. This is a great app when it’s working and I just wish I could revert to pre version 5 somehow. Show more

    Still a major flaw...
The new version did not fix a major flaw that was present in the last version. When doing the EQ quizzes with your own music, due to the level of modern mastering, applying any boost to a track that is already peaking at 0 dBFS will cause clipping. There should at least be some form of internal compensation in the app, for example: if the EQ quiz you’re attempting is going to be using an 8 dB boost, reduce the track level by 8 dB to give yourself headroom to actually be able to boost some frequency by 8 dB. Otherwise, it’s just going to distort, especially at low freqeuncies. This happens regardless of the level from the computer itself. I feel that doing the EQ quizzes with your own music is most beneficial because it lets you hear EQ changes in a context in which you are already familiar. However, this is very difficult with this app because of the clipping/distortion that occurs. Show more

Extremely valuable tool, but some bugs
Very, very useful app, with some really great quizzes. They've included everything you need to become better at identifying frequencies and decibel ratios by ear. However, I found a bug - if you click the correct answer multiple times, it boosts your score and throws the whole scoring and question system off. Should be an easy fix. Show more

    Interesting and useful application
Pro and home audio enthusiasts should both find this tool entertaining and useful. The guys at Audiofile were very quick to help me adjust my Mac audio setup (If you hear audio samples played at dubspeed, be sure your sample rate and bit depth settings are correct). Great job, and look forward to future enhancements. Show more

Essential App for Recordists & Producers
If you record & mix music or use an EQ you need this app. Compentant knowledge of frequencies allows you to quickly make decisions that will benefit your recording or mix. Before Quiztones you either had to pay hundres of dollars for a set of CDs or spend hours fiddling with your EQ. With Quiztones you quickly and easily dial up quizzes on the most common instruments used in contemporary music. Or, choose a track from your own library. The GUI is easy on the eyes, obvious to the user, and simple. Other ear training apps can bog you down in options before you're up and running. $20 is dinner, I know, but it will be a worthwhile investment. The iPhone is app is awesome, too. Show more
