    Excellent!
Great app, would be nice to have a limited free version to trial before purchase but worth the €.

    Excellent App
This is the best percussion app I’ve seen in the app store. I hope they continue to expand rhythms that include traditional rhythms from Colombia and other South American countries. I really hope you consider Cumbia, Bullerengue, Mapale, Vallenato Rhythms, and Colombian Pacific Rhythms. I know there’s a world of rhythms but why not make a recommendation. Also, the Dominican section could really use a Bachata rhythm. Thank you for an excellent app. I really hope you continue to grow. Show more

    Wow.
Amazing and I’m very overwhelmed by the amount of rhythms. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this app. I wonder what future updates will be like.

    Truly essential
A rare app that’s so good I literally tell every student and peer they must have it.

    Outstanding value
I didn’t hesitate to pay $10 for this app - the batá content alone is worth more to me than that! Would love to see the addition of more West-African dance rhythms. Please keep this going, guys! Show more

4.5 Stars, A fenomenal Rhythm App
This year on Nov 6 will be my 4th year of owning this App. Originally on the iOS it was called “Percussion” but today it’s called “Percussiontutor” As a music educator for 30 years I have used many Apps that claimed to be authentic and were not, they were very pretty cheesy. “Percussiontutor” is an excellent tool for teaching various Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian Rhythms. This particular App is authentic in its presentation. Being able to print a pdf of the percussion parts and to see the rhythms being perform by Masters and profesional musicians makes this a fenomenal resource for the music educator, students, instrumentalist and dancers. I have used it to teach 3-5 year olds, pre-k thru 5th grade, middle school, high school and college students. When I compare the rhythm to recording tracks, my students make a connection to the rhythms on the “Percussiontutor” App. Watching the videos helps them to have access to how to execute the different percussion parts. In class we are able to eliminate certain percussion parts and the students can listen how different combination of instruments work together to form the rhythm section. My students also have purchased the app as a required tool for the music class. They learn basic patterns in isolation when practicing at home or in the practice room. The 4.5 Stars and not 5 star is due to the inability to increase the tempo with out loosing the quality of the original recording of the rhythm. Also a volume control, found in other cheesy apps, would definitely kick-it up a notch. Developers, things to consider for improvement: 1. Tempo adjustment with-out loosing the quality of the original rhythm 2. Volume control within the App itself 3. As we continue to improve technology, a counter or digital tempo would kick it up a notch 4. Better graphics or authentic photos of the instruments, would bring it to iOS 13.6 level 5. Add the ability to connect to Garage band or any other DAW App. It would make this an ultimate foundation builder for recording on a digital platform. If non of these suggestion can be added, I will continue to use it as a teaching tool. With its limitations, Percussion tutor is a great thought out App. Shout-out to Victor Rendon, Luis Bauzo and many others who kept the teaching of these traditional rhythms and instruments alive at the old Boys Harbor Music School in Spanish Harlem USA. Again, thank you to the developers and master musicians who participated in creating this well thought-out and well executed Percussion Tutor. I highly recommend it for students, music edu, all percussionist, instrumentalist and dancers. It’s worth every cent and more !!! ¡Un Millón de Gracias! (A million thank you) Show more

    A must-have app
These guys have produced an immensely well thought out and beautifully executed app. As a rock and roll bass player who by sheer happenstance was fortunate enough to learn from an amazing mix of Afro Cuban musicians like Armando Peraza, Walfredo Reyes, Jr., Karl Perazzo, Rebeca Mauleón, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Raul Rekow and others, I can safely say that the amount of work and passion that has been put into this app is second to none. If you even have a passing interest in bettering yourself as a musician, you should get this app. Show more

    A must buy!
A fantastic tool! (And it keeps getting better with every update!) Rhythms are written out and demonstrated with videos. Parts can be added/subtracted for practice. On of the best apps out there! Show more

    Excellent App
Great app that is now part of my suite of practise tools. Just get it you wont regret. Wished it had a timer or at least show the clock so that the practice time per rhythm can be tracked before upping the tempo etc, Show more

    The greatest app ever?
I am a musician and have travelled to a dozen countries to study. Much of what I’ve wanted to understand is all in this app. It is a treasure and an indispensable resource for those who want to explore traditional African rhythms. Show more

This is a great resource. Download their RhythmGame app as well. It’s challenging and fun.

    Awesome app
If you play percussion, use the world music drumming curriculum as a teacher, participate in drum circles such as HealthRhythms, Arthur Hull’s Village Drum Circles or just love Afro Latin music then this is the book. It’s a great practice tools and is an awesome way to learn all the parts. If there are two of you you can mute two parts in an ensemble and jam out. The game that goes with this, Rhythm Game, is a great practice tool too. It gives feedback on best timing accuracy and is a great design. It’s free if you beat each level and you only pay to unlock all levels. Show more

Percussion Tutor is a work of genius!!!
I’m a musician who has played with many Latin Bands throughout my life. And I enjoy studying the different roles each percussionist in a section plays. For me, Percussion Tutor is like dying and going to heaven. It gives you so much for a ridiculously small price. The app is worth 20 times of its price. Not only do you get a very strong presentation of different AfroCuban Popular Dance Drum Patterns, you get an array of patterns in Cuban Folk Music, Rumba, Batá, etc. Each one of the Patterns and their role in the Culture of Cuba is discussed. Then Dominican, Puerto Rican, African, Brazilian, Peruvian Drum pattern are presented in a beautiful way. The recording sounds great. Great musicians. I highly recommend this app for anyone who loves the culture of Drums. Brilliant!!! Show more

    Total bait and switch
The description says “world percussion”. So I downloaded the app hoping to use it for middleastern percussion sounds. But such a thing does not exist on this app. Since when does the “world” include Latin/Central America and then west Africa? So irritating. Show more

Great! Could use a few improvements
I love this app! I’m giving it 4 stars though, because there are a few improvements I’d like to see. I don’t like that the pitch of the percussion instruments change when adjusting tempo. I’d like for the pitch to be fixed. Or maybe to have separate controls for both pitch and tempo. Next, it would be nice to have separate volume controls for individual instruments. Finally, the bossa move rhythm maxes out at 155bpm, which is still pretty slow, so I’d like to have the ability to set a higher tempo for it. Other than that, I love this app and hope to see continual improvements in the future. Show more
