    Very Limited
This simple app is extremely limited and I think it is only listening to the microphone from the mac and not its onboard audio board

    Works great
This is exactly what I was looking for, however I do wish it read the output levels as well, not just input.. for example listening to the current output of my music and volume cuts in FCP to ensure I have the same levels throughout. Show more

    Only works briefly.
When the app works, it's fantastic! I love to monirot the levels from my two USB mics. But whenever I am recording my podcast the app usualy crashes after about 10 minutes, which causes the recording to also stop in GarageBand. Maybe it does not support two mics at a time or also being open with GarageBand. Show more

Regret; doesn't do the only thing it's needed for
Soundflower is no longer supported, and without that external tool, this paid software can't be used for measuring or monitoring computer audio. Will be figuring out how to get a refund. Show more

    Great level meter
I use this with an external audio interface to monitor the levels going into my streaming encoder. It's great, and the RMS + Peak meters are a lifesaver, as is the clipping indicator. Love that it shows how many frames in a row were clipped. If you're using it with something like a UAD Apollo, you can monitor the system output by sending the Mac's output to a virtual interface on the Apollo, and then chosing those inputs (UAD 9/10 are the first set of virtual interfaces). You can also create other meters that are showing what's coming from other interface inputs. If you're trying to monitor the levels of the system audio out, you'll need to use something like Soundflower (Open Source) or Loopback ($99 from RogueAmoeba, so not the cheapest solution). Show more

Awesome Utility, Assuming it fits your need
For what this app does, it’s awesome. The reviews that don’t like it is because it doesn’t monior output signals. For the situation that I use ProLevel it has become invaluable. For instance, I might be recording with Pro Tools, which has all the monitoring I need, but sometimes I will also be using a separate interface, or the built-in interface to send audio to Skype, or a specialty aplication that doesn’t have good metering. This is amazing for that. I know how much level I am sending to skype for communicating with clients and am able to send signals from Pro Tools to skype and know how much level I am sending without having to have the Skype preferences window open. So if this is something helpful for you this tool is really great. Currently using this on Mavericks and works without any issues. Show more

    Waste of time and money
THis does not show you what is being OUTPUT and doesn’t even allow access to the built-in signal. I’m not sure what it’s supposed to do. It just shows the inout level of the attached camera, but NOTHING related to what the Mac itself is sending out, let alone what a specific app is sening out. Save your money for a cup of coffee. This is worthless and NOT AT ALL for professional use. I suspect the other reviews are shills. If Apple allowed, I’d have a few choice words for these guys, but the most polite i can come up with is THEIVES! Show more

    Great little App
In finally got this to work the way I needed it to. Unforunatly (for some reason) they didn’t design it to have the one audio source I needed (internal speakers). So I had to jump thru some hoops by installing the Soundflowerbed (free) app. But then got stuck as when you launch this little app it doesn’t appear as a normal app. Instead you have to realize that it added a tiny little icon up in the upper right corner of the Mac screen were all the other little icons are. From there you can set the audio path that you need. In my case I wanted it for watching levels with iMovie. Show more

Exactly what I was looking for!
I needed something to monitor audio levels from different types of video sources/files. This took some time to get set up, but it does exactly what I need. The setup issue had more to do with using Audio Midi Setup to get the right signal routing. Show more

Not Not Not What I needed
So like another reviewer here, this does not do what I wanted so its 5 bucks wasted. I have plenty of input monitoring in Logic WHAT WE NEED IS A STANDALONE OUTPUT METER THAT IS LISTENING TO THE OUTPUT DEVICE, WHETHER THAT IS THE INTERNAL OUTPUTS OR EXTERNAL SUCH AS WITH AN AUDIO RECORDING INTERFACE! This is not rocket science, people! Show more

    Not what I expected
I bought this expecting it would show details for audio outputs as well as inputs. It does what it's meant to do, but just not what I thought it would do. Show more

    Works as advertised
ProLevel works as advertised - meaning that it shows the levels in real time. Plus, you're able to do a lot of configuration. But, I am not completely satisfied with the way it works. I was hoping to use this with my Zoom H4n audio recorder to get an accurate level reading but it didn't work as I expected. I wanted to use the USB cable that came with the H4n but I was unable to use it that way. So, I tried using my MacBook's audio in port and use the headphone output on the Zoom. That seemed to work, but it still did not give me an accurate reading since the audio out on the Zoom is meant for headphones. I am hoping they add the ability for me to use my Zoom H4n, as I need it for an upcoming shoot. Also, I hope they allow me to record audio from the application. But, overall good application.
