    Could be so much more...
I love my Nord Drum 2. This app, while decent, could be SO much more. 1. Add a sound design mode, where you can edit all of the sound parameters (all values can be controlled via MIDI CC, so why not make it easier for producers to tweak sounds? The hardware interface is great, but I'd like to use my iPad to do it all. 2. Allow sysex dumps so that you can save/restore your sounds from your iPad. You have the code for the desktop librarian editor... Just put it in this app. Allow those dumps to be accessible via iTunes file sharing 3. Allow setting the pitch per step. 4. Allow 4-8 MIDI "parameter locks" elektron style for each voice (let the user choose which paramos to sequence) I've controlled the ND2 this way via my machinedrum and it opens up a world of new sounds. A pain to set up though. Native support for it in your app would be a killer feature. 5. More pattern space and/or up to 64 steps. 6. Individual voice track lengths. Because it's 2015. 7. Ability to record from the virtual pads into the sequence. I'm never going to actually perform with the iPad drum pads, but if I could record what I tap into the sequence, that'd be great. On that note, let me record from my actual nord pad into the sequence. 8. The 3 levels of velocity is fine for old school sequencing, but you've made an INCREDIBLY nuanced and subtle sound engine... Let me define the velocity 0-127 If you guys made this a truly pro sequencer/editor for the ND2 I would easily pay $50. I paid that much for Lemur and I have to build the interfaces myself! Offer a deep tool for using the ND2 with no set up on the users part? Absolutely I'd pay top dollar for that. Easily my favorite drum module around... Teased with a very primitive app that just scratches the surface. 3 stars. My gut said 2 just because there are so many more features that are begging to go in here, but since it's a solid app (no crashes or glitches) 2 is a little unfair. Show more

Original Nord Drum Owners, Watch Out
It does what it's supposed to do. However, one should be aware that this V.2. update completely replaced the original Nord Beat app, which, if used for working with the Nord Drum, means that you will have some issues within this app. It's designed for different hardware, and all of my ~20 or so fully programed tracks saved from the original app no longer open. They do show in the memory of the device, but they aren't openable by any software I've got. Pretty glaring oversight, Nord. Show more

    Not bad, with one misfeature...
Not a bad little sequencer. One really annoying characteristic though is saved patterns don't store the note configuration (MIDI note values of each track) so if you change it from one pattern to the next you'd better write it down. What a pain. Otherwise it's great. Show more

    Great Find...
It's a really well designed, clean interface that sends MIDI to other sound generators. Fun to use, nice swing and flam features... I can get patterns made without any fuss. If Nord could let us save theMIDI note output with the song and maybe offer some preconfigured scale based MIDI output note setups I'd be 5 starring it! Show more

    Nord
Nord, please make an app to edit sample for the stage 2

Ignore "waste of time" review -- looks good
The description specifically states that the app does not generate sound -- only MIDI output. So complaints about "no sound" can be ignored. Looking forward to trying this out.

    Waste of time
Downloaded. Opened. Audio was mute, didn't work. All my other apps audio were fine. Quickly deleted.

    Good
Can you add audio bus or some way to access sound from the iPad apps?

    Nord app ???
Uh... Where's the sound ??? - I guess this may be a reason why Roland, Korg and Yamaha seem to dominate in modern music technology... :(

Nord Beat help for ipad noob
Hello, Just bought an iPad and one of the first apps I picked up was Nord Beat - I am not totally stupid, but it is not generating any sound. Is this a stand-alone product or does this need to be used in conjunction with other equipment to generate sound? (i.e.- external speakers, the Nord drum machine that they say the app works great with, or something else....?) Your help is appreciated! Really looking forward to having fun with some music apps like sequencers, drum machine, etc., as well as guitar apps, so feel free to make recommendations if you like - thank you! PK (the 3 stars is just because I have not been able to hear it yet and was not able to locate support answers on the Nord website, so it is really not a good indicator as to the app's quality) Show more

    Nord can keep a beat
Nord's midi beat app is really cool, because it can help record drums in real time, while being simplistic in its ways. The only problem I have been facing is the latency between the play back of the MIDI drums using the Nord Beat and Pro Tools, but I think that is an issue with my iPad and not the app. I wish you could add different time signatures from inside the app, which should be an update. good start
great interface. would be cool if app could run in background mode.

    Great!
Fantastic, really nicely laid out MIDI step sequencer. And for free you can't beat it! I'm using it to control a drum rack in Ableton Live and it works flawlessly. I'm hoping this is just a 'teaser' and that Nord has a full-fledged (ie more than 4 track) sequencer in the works as a paid upgrade, i'd definitely shell out a couple of bucks for a 'Pro' version with more features! I have NO audio with the app!
Downloaded, opened, pressed play, and have absolutely no audio. I'll change my review when you fix it up!

    Good for being free
Sharp little program! responsive, uncluttered, clean, and beautiful. But there isn't an ability to run in the background, I did that iBS-16 thing too. Yes, it does the trick quite well, but you can't switch back to the sound generating app without causing the Nord 4 track to quit. Show more

    Note lengths are too short
This could be fun but the note lengths are too short. Samples get cut off.

    5 STARS
Thanks Nord! I will use this with your synth.

    Thanks
Thanks a lot Clavia! I will use it for Reason mostly. CoreMIDI over ethernet is the most exciting combination for live performance. Tip to all core MIDI users, make ad hoc network with between your mac and ipad, don't use router cnnection. Show more
