Not for intermediate players, DEFINITELY not for beginners.
Few important points I wanna make: -The chords written are not accurate to what is being played. The developer confuses major/minor/dominant chords. So basically everything. Measures and song forms are written very poorly. Good luck figuring it out on your own. -Tracks don’t sound authentic to any of the styles available. I mean not even single one. I understand if the developer is a metalhead not familiar with jazz music, but the person is an amateur musician who really needs to study more music. -Basically it’s just a guitar player playing poorly made riffs over drum machines. And even the guitar tones sound really cheap. If you’re a serious musician you will immediately figure out that you’ve made a mistake by paying high dollars. If you’re a beginner, only thing you will get out of this app will be a bad habit of misreading music. I’m seriously ashamed of spending money on this app. I could’ve made a better library of jam tracks on my own in a single day. Sorry developers. Hope you made enough money to go take some music lessons. Show more

    Don’t buy it!
    1) I don’t know of any guitarist who practices with the fingerboard displayed verticaly-all positions in sections. 2) Take the huge logo out and put the whole fingerboard there horizontally! Maybe mark positions on that. 3) No notes on the fingerboard! How hard would that be to put a circle with the note inside? They show the root with color! 4) Where am I in the song? No song position markers? I am not a trained musician and trying to follow a jazz progression while working on a leed is hard enough. They give you the chords, but they let you figure out which one is playing. 5) It would be nice to have the arpeggios highlighted for each chord as it was playing. 6) Why can’t I change the size of the app and make it bigger? I download backtracks from youtube, print out the scale for that song and BINGO. Some backtracks show the chords as it is playing and show you the next chord also. Show more

    Need additional tracks.
The tracks available are OK but there are not that many and a lot of them are a little slow. Would be nice to be able to download additional tracks and to be able to vary the temp of the exsisting tracks. There are easier wys to play lead than to memorize all of these scales. In relaity you nee just two, 1st and 5th and be able to move between them. Then just pick a key. Easy. Show more

I like Jam Tracks because of it’s simplicity…
Very helpful… Although, it could use a little more functionality. Chord progressions and scale patterns can't to be viewed at the same time. It’s important to understand the best note choices(chord tones) in relation to the chords. As opposed to just running through scales tones (other than the Root & b5 or Blues note). I do like the Modal tracks…! Other then that… its a great app! Show more

    Fanstastic app!!!
I saw the this app and wonder if the software worked as well as people said. I got a chance to fire it up and was very impressed on the set up. It is great for beginners to experienced players. It helps prevent guitarist getting stuck in “the box” and great for just practicing chords and different rhythm. I love house it should you the chord progression and several different scales within the major and minor keys. I your looking for an app to keep your fingers motorskills up this is the app! Great job and looking forward to new updates. Show more

    Perfect
I bought this when I was startting soloing and its a great way to get started. It teaches you 2 scales: Major and Minor penatonic with blues notes that you can use. It gives you these scales in every key all down the guitar neck. It gives you backing music along with the scales: you can chose between Acustic blues, Humbucker blues, Jazz, Rock, or reggae. you get backing music for the major and minor form in every key. This does a great Job of displaying the various positions the scale can be played on and with further study you and jump from position to position as you please. play around with the scale listen to the rythem and some phrasing then practice soloing and improvising. If you are a more inermidet to advanced player there is not a whole lot for you but if you don't know the platonic scales all the way down the neck or arent that experienced in soloing buy it now. Lots of fun
This is great for those of us still locked into the pentatonic scales….I am waiting for another version that we can use to practice modes…that would be the ultimate and I'd pay alot for that!!!! But this is a great start ;) Show more

More than just Penatonic for 5 stars
This app is fantastic. Just press play and follow the charts. The backing tracks are interesting and well recorded, feels like you're playing with a professional band! The only thing I'd like to see in an update is the ability to choose more than just penatonic scales! Show more

Over priced but great product- Not just for begginers.
I've been playing guitar for around 8 years now, so I know my way around the neck. When I first started playing, my dad taught me how to play all the scales, and together we would switch off improving solos. When I first brought up the app, I was disappointed. It seemed to be meant for begginers, or someone who didn't know scales. But as I kept playing with it, I realized that it is a great tool. It plays chord progressions in all major and minor keys in the styles of acoustic blues, humbucker blues, jazz, reggae, and rock. There's also a diagram showing all the notes, the root notes, and the blues notes. This app will help you learn the fingerings, and help you practice in different styles to improve yourslef as an overall guitarist. Yes, it is kinda expensive, but I've gotten a lot of use out of it and have added it to my regular practice schedule. I also had a gift card at the time, so that helped my decision. I def recomend this app! Show more

    You must be joking!!
This may be the biggest waste of money in the app store. If anyone figures out how this can be worth $9.99 please let me know. They really need to figure a way to let a person interested in an app test it out before purchasing. This app does nothing but play a few backup tracks and demonstrate, in a confusing manner, where to place your fingers to attempt to play some lead into the backing tracks. The quote in the advertisement for this app by somebody named Orlando C. (a U.S. Customer) reads as follows, "I don't think anything else has ever improved my playing like this app has." Well, maybe Orlando improved his playing by purchasing this app, attempting to use it, finding out he had wasted his money and the app is so bad that he was compelled to practice the correct way and not use hyped up, overstated apps like this one. I really do feel like I just gave $9.99 of my money to somebody and got absolutely NOTHING in return. I really hope my review helps others avoid wasting money like I have. The developers of this app must be laughing all the way to the bank. Show more
