    Could be better...
I love the way this app is SUPPOSED to work… The versatility between devices is limited at this point. The Mac app crashes when trying to export a PDF document. Therefore, it’s useless to buy the app for a Mac when I cannot transfer it to my portable device. Sets cannot be exported either. I update a set and use it on a weekly basis but because it cannot be exported, I have to do all of the editing work on my small mobile device which is EXTREMELY time consuming. Overall, I like the thought behind the app but it just needs more work. Having spent 20$ on the app, I’d like to see some improvements. at that point I might be willing to spend another 10$ to have it on my phone as well. Right now, It’s just not worth the hassle... A good basic chordpro display/editor
I like the editor for simple editing, and I really don't use any other advanced chordpro features. Imported the chordpro files I tried OK. I do wish it had more features but it's functional. PDF export always crashes for me. Needs updating for El Capitan? Show more

    Frustrating
The good news is, it's rather simple to manually enter a song and place the chords in their proper place. However, when creating a pdf, the app crashes and most of the time I’ve had to re-enter my last edits. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to import/export songs. I purchased the iOS and the Mac version hoping that there would be easy transferablity of songs. Not the case at all. While this app could potentially be what a lot of musicians are looking for, it needs a ton of work to make it usable. Show more

    #$%&
I downloaded it onto my macbook pro, and cannot find it. It’s nowhere to be found through spotlight or finder. I had purchased the app on my iPhone, and they charged me again to download it onto my mac. Then, it’s nowhere to be found. There is no support online for it, and MySongBook is also the name of another app, so finding info or support is even more frustrating. I am going to try to get my money back. Show more

Not what I was looking for.
I was hoping to find an easy app that I could make my own chord charts. This one was not it. Every time I tried to save as a PDF it would close down. You can’t email a song from it. Very difficult to edit what you have made. Wish they made OnSong for Macs. I wish they offerd a money back within the first few hours of downloading. Show more

MAJOR UPDATE NEEDED…Not just “bug fixes"
For most songs, certain chords are played during a certain phrase or a particular word…this $10 app does not allow me to move my chords where ever I want to when I’m placing them over my lyrics. I must settle with where ever the brackets decide to place them. WHY?! Show more

    Well Missunderstood
Playing live music I need chord charts well organized with all my songs ready to go. Now the problem I had is not having an ipad or a tablet which is where most of the chord chat apps reside. If we look at other reviews we see the number one complaint: they cant transfer their old music onto this app. Im sure it is frustrating if you cant do this and you have many songs already on your comp. However, there IS an import music function that has allowed me to transfer .txt files. Also You CANNOT import from the internet such as from guitar tabs. Nevertheless, it does not take a long time nor is it hard to copy and paste sections from these chord websites onto the app. It will require you to do some work such as COPY and PASTE, however, I enjoy being able to further customize my chord chart rather than downloading it directly from online. The app is very well organized and it looks good. It allows us to create sets as well which is extrmely important. Want to make hard copies of your music for yourself or other band members? The app can make your music into a .PDF that is well formated and looks good and is printable. In settings we set the note of the song and the default. This way we can keep the orignial note in our records and set it (transpose) to the note we want to have it in or the note we are confortable playing/singing. If I could fix this app it would be to allow to import other files (main complaint) and for more settings options so these chord charts can become more felxible and customisable There is not much for the Mac out there when it comes to chord charts sadly. This app has more potential to give, but overall it is GOOD. Observe why the low ratings have been given and think about if you are able to get over the cons of this greately misunderstood app. Show more

    Updated review
Poor communication by SimonApps. They did some good updates intermittently, but it's clunky. Exporting is a mystery. The WORST is there is NO undo. If you make a mistake after having gotten through a bunch of lyrics and chords, you're screwed. I moved on to OnSong. Waste of money. Show more

    Not worth It
I thought after the reviews at least I could tab a song but no, you type your own chords so forget about tabbing a line.

    No, Not Satisfied
I have to say that I thought, at the least, that this software would allow me to import my pdfs. In order for me to utilze this software with all of my other songs, I'd have to do everything from scratch, which I will not do. I'm disappointed and wish that I did not spend my $10. Hopefully, they will look at these reviews and update the software. It has potential, especially for songwriting, but that's not what I initially needed it for. I should have read the description clearly. Show more

I didn't like it personally - software needs a LOT of improvement
I have a collection of lyrics from years here. In a word document. Just like it shows in every site of chords in the world most of the time the lyrics are displayed in a line above the word. Now in order for me to get all those thousands of lyrics and chords to the software I would have to do maaaajor work (which I don't think I am feeling like spending hundreds of hours editing those chords to match this software). Another strange thing (maybe I am not knowing how to work the software even though it looks a pretty straight forward tool) is that when I need a 'Am' chord, in the software I am having to enter [Cm] in order to show up on the chords mode 'Am' pretty strange. So for every song I have within my thousands I would have to go online again and look for the correspondent chords for that one in particular and change them manually which is crazy. I don't need the software to automatically transpose the chords nor take out the capo automatically just show up the lyrics with the chords on top would be enough for me and the autoscroll feature (which we have no control on the speed of it). The main idea of the software is good, but it lacks a lot of resources. Unfortunately I feel like I just lost $15 coz I also purchased the iPad version. Yeah, stupid me for not checking out the Desktop version first. Oh well… I guess I gotta live without the $15 and hope that in a few years the software can develop a very simple task of getting the chords the way they are in 99% of the site and transcribing them the say exact way understanding [translating] the chords also in the same way. So overall, for me, it's a no go. Sorry. Show more

    Needs More Research and Work
The problem with this app is simple, do not try to avoid the 'chord pro' format. It's all over the internet and most musicians like to download or import directly into the song book app in some fashion or another. The author should remember, most musicians who have Macs already have several hundred songs written in Pages as well as other apps and need a quick way to import material. The way the app asks you to 'setup' songs is just too time consuming. You should be able to import text files in one frame and use tags to identify titles, subtitles, chords, etc. The editor is simple and too limited. You cannot change text colors, chord colors and is limited to a few fonts and sizes. I quickly found a couple of glitches in the software that were an inconvenience. If you are a musician of almost any level, you will soon find yourself wanting much more than this app can give you. I suppose if you need a quick place to store a few songs for recall, it's OK, but I would never count on it for storing my repertoire of performance material for live shows. Used to be you only needed 50 to 60 songs to do a gig. These days, you dare not go to a gig without 200 plus songs so that you have something to please any audience and this app is not up to that task... Show more
