Great app but Audiobus is not working
I am a hand drummer and this is the only app I know of that allows true organic beats (non-quantized) — like I do on a tabla, conga, dumbek, etc. So, I would like to give this 5 stars, because it really is in a class by itself…however, Audiobus has not successfully launched the app for months so there is no way to use a studio workflow with other apps and that prevents this from being something you can actually use for real work. Great app but…
Used to love putting loops together on my iPhone X with this, but it will no longer run correctly after installing iOS 15 - it crashes every time I try to export a loop. Show more

    Great Little app
Re-discovering this App. Great for creating organic sounds. PLEASE MAKE THIS AN AUV3 AUDIO FX (too useful not to have this. Ableron link would also be great?)

    Excellent app
While i am excited always to use this app it has a problem with IAA node. Not working with AudioShare / AUM …etc. Developer please fix this before your fantastic masterpiece end up as forgotten and abandoned. It will be just a shame. This is such a gem to audio world. Show more

    Doesnt Work at all
Not sure what’s going on I love beepstreet but this is frustraiting the app doesnt work at all. I dont really understand but the actual sound is staticky and rarely works correctly. I dont usually go for a refund but I’m going to fight on this one. Show more

    Awful app
How do get money back on this app?

    Great sound and great fun
Impaktor is unlike any other synth or drum tool I’ve played with. It sounds incredible and it’s easy to make great sounding rhythms.

Very useful percussion app. Needs sync.
Edited. Still no sync, which is spoiling the effectiveness of this app for me. Otherwise|- Really nice app, love the sounds and layering loops. Would be even better with sync options or especially Ableton Link compatibility. Would breathe new life into this app. I’ve been looking for anything (even a desktop app) that does what this one does and still haven’t found it. Show more

    Excellent app
Just got it today but I can already see the possibilities with it! I just hope background audio is introduced and maybe some midi control for playing with other apps. Great app so far though. Show more

Fun, but needs a few thing
Cool app...I’m still trying to fit it in to my work flow for recording. It is very responsive and taps the beat out accurately. A couple of little shortcomings is it only quantizes to 1/16...1/32 would be great because I often tap out quick little beats and fills that Impaktor struggles with and makes it slower when I want it faster. Turning the quantize off is an option, but it’s difficult to be precise. Also, a 4 or 8 beat count-in option would be wonderful. This app has a decent selection of drums from which to choose and has great potential. Show more

    Not working in GarageBand
The app works fine on its own, but it will no longer load into my GarageBand. I’ve a previously recorded Impaktor track that I had created a few months back when it was working fine. Show more

Works great with a drum trigger pad
I’m getting full joy with this app, and a Roland PD-5 rubber drum pad, like for V-drums. It’s very playable and responsive, like an instrument. Great range and nuance to sound depending on how you play. It is interesting how it works, it seems to kind of transform the actual sound of the trigger, rather than playing samples. My setup is using an old iPad 4 to run this exclusively and am using a previously useless $30 irig Stomp pedal, to get the trigger into Impaktor. The irig stomp is intended for plugging a guitar into the headset mic jack, and it murders the tone, but here, it serves great for just getting the pad trigger into the iPad, without having to use an audio interface. If I could have one thing for this app, it would be midi clock sync, to use the internal looper to get layers going, with the quantize. Great, unique app. Highly recommended for drummers and percussionists looking to work in some great electronic sounds, like the Synare did in bands like Joy Division and the Cure. Show more

    Awful iPhone app
Totally useless on an iPad if you want landscape mode. This is just a cheesy iPhone app upgraded to iPad with no landscape mode. This is just a toy, not a real, useable music app. Rip off. If you put an app in the iPad section of the app store it should have a landscape mode. That’s what makes it an iPad app. Show more

    Just awesome
As someone with limited study time, I need apps that don't need to be coddled obsessively to produce satisfactory sound. Impaktor works great this way. If you've tried the app and gotten annoyed with no headphones, just do yourself a favor and get some cheap phones. You can very easily drum, record, and rerecord each instrument as needed until you have something great! Show more

    Great Update
Very glad the developer added 64 bit support to the app. Adding audiobus support allows a great app to be even better. Use headphones if you want to avoid feedback issues while you're drumming. Still the most expressive drumming app, it translates mic input into drum sounds with a variety of ways to tweak the sound and adjust the volume of the input from the mic. Try using a contact mic for additional options if you're wanting to perform live music. Show more

    Essential app for me
I use this app on three iOS devices in my live rig. Using an inexpensive iRig audio interface and a Roland electronic drum pad I can create something like a wave drum at a fraction of the cost. Thanks for making it 64 bit. Show more

    Brilliant synth idea!
I got this app thinking it was a normal drum synth. I had no idea about sampling with the mic. This is by far the most interesting and engaging drum synth app I used. Sad to see this project stagnate and not get updates for a long time. Nonetheless, my five stars go to a great idea and neat implementation. Show more

    Awesome app
I was worried about latency before I bought this - there is none. I was also concerned that I would have to be overly careful about where to place the phone while I'm tapping - I don't. This app brings the human feel to the world of iOS percussion instruments, a world teeming with apps that lack velocity control and variable accent control. The sounds it comes with are great but it has enough flexibility for you to make your own. I'm incredibly unique instrument for five bucks - it's a steal. For the people that aren't giving it five stars because they can't use it on stage or find a way to work with its limitations... people just don't use their brain and find ways to work around obstacles. Even the most prestigious studios in the world have limitations. It uses a live sound source as an impulse generator, it's got to be quiet. Duh. If you're having retrigger problems you're probably putting the phone on a surface that is too resonant. If you want to use it on stage get a korg wavedrum. This is exactly what I was looking for to create some ambient tribal experimental electronica and I already know how I'm going to do it. Jam out on the table, hit record, trim and loop in AudioShare or cubasis or BM2 and then find the tempo. If I like the sounds and I want to use them on stage I'll sample them and set velocity layers. Problem solved. It's not that hard people you need to try harder. If it doesn't work on your iPad do it on your iPhone. Problem solved. It's five bucks and it doesn't crash. Five stars. Show more

Wayyyyy too much lag on iPad Air 2
lag seems to be gone, but now the issue is that impaktor "hears" itself, so you cant use looping! if you use external mic connected, the headphone audio signal is routed back into impaktor, so kick drums will trigger hats, etc... even with no playing. synth engine is cool, but looper is worthless.. :::: old review :::: Per another review I read, I agree that something seems broken with this app now. I've tried iPad's internal Mic, and external mic, even connecting to a real drum trigger (which is just a piezo mic in a housing basically) and they all are worthless. Lag is at least I the .1's of a second... Cool sounds, but pointless now due to lag. Show more
