    A menubar gift
Thanks to this app, I can see what is playing in the menu bar. And I can control what is playing, right there. Thanks to the developer, a gift to us. Show more

Just what I was looking for!
This app gets a solid five star rating. Exactly what I was looking for basic music control from the menu bar. Works perfectly with Big Sur.

could be better, but its the best
ive tried 5-10 other solutions for nowplaying in the menubar and this was the best one, i dont love it, but its the best we got.

Delivers exactly what it says it will
Near perfect execution. Every once and while a song with a particularly long title will break it but other than that it works as well as it should. Great job

    Great utility, amazing developer!
I love being able to see the artist and song title to what I'm listening. It's great for discovering new music. The developer is also very responsive, listening to suggestions and quickly fixing the rare issue. I highly recommend this app! Show more

    Thank you!
This is the functionality I was missing after the update left my old menu bar app broken. And you managed to do it in a few days. You rock! Show more

    Needs updated
Not working in Mojave 10.14.1 Response to dev: No track name displayed in the mac status bar. Everything else works. Just says "WhatsOn" - when I change tracks I *very* briefly see a flash of the track name, then it goes back to "WhatsOn" I am using the light theme for my mac if that makes any difference. I've restarted since updating, have uninstalled/reinstalled WhatsOn, etc. Show more

Wonderful App, needs update for Mojave
It loads, but does not show what is playing. When a song changes in Spotify the WhatsOn app flashes the title but then immediately displays the default "WhatsOn" in the menu bar instead of the song title/artist. Highly recommend this app once this is corrected. Worked perfectly prior to Mojave 10.14.1 update. Show more

    So far, so good!
I like it. Thanks! Here’s a suggestion, I would prefer it to open the app that i’m playing music from rather than the album art. I also would like to see a like button in the drop down box.. Show more

Best Free Menubar Track Control for the Mac
I have been using the application, SoHo in the past which is very similar but it’s not actively being developed so I made the switch to WhatsOn. I like it a lot and it is adding additional features at a decent pace! And it is free! Currently the best on the appstore! Here are a couple things that I’m hoping the app incorporates in the future: 1. When iTunes or Spotify aren’t playing the menubar text becomes “WhatsOn” which is pretty tacky looking in my opinion and should just collapse to an icon. 2. One of the main features of SoHo was the ability to control tracks by hovering over the menubar info and the track control appeared over the song title. It makes it even easier than having to click on the song title to control the song. Show more

    This is cool
I like this! I love that it shows the song and the artist. Sometimes the song titles and artists go away… not sure why. If that can be fixed, that would be great. Show more

    Good app
is it possible to see the album cover and customize the bar? For spotify its grey with bright spotify logos all over it and it kind of hurts my eyes. I’d love it looked like the one in the screenshots. Other than that it does what I need it to do. Show more

Thank goodness this came to Apple's rescue
The miniplayer in iTunes is so worthless that it's not even funny anymore, and the 12.6 update managed to make it even worse. This app does everything you need and is a much cleaner approach than Apple's. I really like it, and am happy I found it. I do have three improvements I'd suggest: 1. The "View in iTunes" feature does not work for me. Pressing the button does nothing for streams, and for songs iTunes shows th store then a "There was a temporary problem..." dialog. 2. The most common things I do are skip a song and adjust the volume, it would be great to do that without pressing the right mouse button, either by making that the default or showing the contols under the other info. 3. The controls look "odd" like one of them has an outline drawn around it - sometimes's it the stop/play, sometimes it's the back or forward. Clicking the controls does not seem to change that. Good but I may be too picky.
I’ve had it on my MBP for 5 mintues and love it, with just one request. I may not have dug far enough but is there a way to keep the song titles on that bar no matter what window is active? It’s there when I’m on the desktop but when I move to Chrome, the title goes away. Other than that, I love it Show more

Does what it says - now with new smaller icon!
This is great - just the track title in the menu bar, which is what I was looking for. And now the icon’s smaller *and* it even includes album art in the drop-down menu. Minimal! Functional! Useful! Love it. Show more

    Perfect
Exactly what I was looking for. Shows song title, and a nice expanded view when clicked. Nice work!
