The cards look pretty, and at first glance appear to have a lot of options. If you want to learn to read notes from knowing guitar, these are perfect. But if you need fretboard cards or tablature cards, these aren’t it. As far as I can tell, there appears to be no way to switch what I’m learning. It is only teaching to read sheet music, and nothing else. It’ll show the note on the staff on the test side, and then the answer side is the fretboard or the tabs or letters. But I know how to read music already. I wanted something to show me the fretboard on the test side, and the letter or note on the staff on the answer side. This app isn’t it. Also, there seems to be no way to scroll through at your own pace. You can’t change to a new card without turning on an automated system, and I’m not a fan of that either. Although it wouldn’t be a deal breaker if these actually taught guitar from music instead of music from guitar. Show more

It is almost very good. I’ve been playing guitar for a while and play piano. I’m trying to use this to learn to read sheet music on the guitar and get to know the fretboard better. There are times when the flash cards are wrong. Probably 80 percent of the time, it’s great..that other 20 percent...not so much. Show more

No good as I wanted simple note flash cards, hard to use and navigate

Was looking for an app that provided Flashcards to aid in learning chords. All I can seem to do is select single strings and the Flashcard provides some info about that string. Cannot figure out how to create Flashcards for chords. Totally worthless. Show more

Pretty straightforward. It shows you a note on the music scale and you have to determine its name, the correct string and fret to play it, and/or the tablature (sp?). The quiz score is based on the honor system. You tell the app if you guessed right or wrong. I like that I can tell it what string and what notes I want to be quizzed on. Since I'm just starting out, I don't know any sharp or flat notes. I can tell the app to only ask natural notes and also limit the string and fret to what I'm familiar with so far. Nothing make sense. The quiz seems to be a multiple choice but always give you the right answers. Don't waste your money on this

4.9 stars! This is an elegant and intuitive app that is exactly what I was looking for. The set up is easy to use in picking the set of notes you want to practice. Just select your notes from the main screen and then hit submit. The cards are displayed in an easy to read fashion and the ability to switch back and forth between the note and the fingering or tabs is awesome. The only feature I thought would be present and is not is an ability to swipe between cards. However, the autoplay function makes using the cards while playing the notes on the guitar very easy. Just a two things keeping it from being perfect. 1) The screen doesn't rotate so you can't flip your ipad to the side and let it autoplay unless you want to tilt your head sideways. 2) The screen dims then locks during autoplay; which means if you're playing the notes as they come up, you have to stop and reach over to keep the screen from locking up mid-practice. It's easy to use. Works well as a refresher for my son who's taking guitar lessons. Like another reviewer, I really wish it saved the notes selected so you don't have to redo it every time. A pretty big shortcoming. Show more

I am a beginner and that is exactly what I need while riding the subway. It speeds up the learning curve sugnificantly. A wish for the next upgrade. Please make the letter of the note flash on the same side of the card where the note is shown at the same time when the sound button is used. It will streamline the experience by merging sound + note + letter. Please do not show permanently. Just flash the letter together with the sound for ~1.5 sec. The back of the card is OK. Great app! With reload the application works perfectly on both iPhone and IPad. Newly added natural note option makes it easy to set up for most practice; at worst you merely have to delete a few notes. I use it daily and it has made a tremendous difference. Highly recommended! Show more

Not too bad, but it seems you have to set up the notes you want to use every single time. You can't save the set of notes you want to work with (unless I'm missing that). Also, it would be nice to speed up or slow down the auto play feature. Finally, it would be even better if you could type in a letter for the note shown and get feedback for a right or wrong answer. It's OK, I wish the fretboard was a little more clear and I could step back to the other side of the flash card.

This app is too complicated for beginners. We are a bit disappointed.

This is a very useful tool for note memorization for the Guitar. This App is simple to use and improved my sight reading and fretboard knowledge tremendously overnight. I like how you can also audition the notes and use it for tuning or ear training. I recommend this app! Show more
