    All analog (one exception)
I run an all analog recording studio and every piece of gear in the studio is vintage and analog. No sampling or triggering or plugins or auto tune. Just hardware tools. Except for this one sampler which does such a fantastic job of emulating the real mellotron! This is one instrument that it has always made sense to me to sample since the mellotron itself is nothing but a very archaic sampler without any sort of special dynamics to capture. I think that Manetron took the right path by not correcting all of the eccentricities of the original instrument like the pitchiness and the short length of the original tape samples. The sound blends in so nicely with the other instruments in a track and lends some serious character whether mixed up front or tucked way back where it can really pass as a string section with the right arrangement. Been using it for almost a decade now. No complaints here! Show more

    incredible!!
This app sounds great, especially if you run it through one of the amp emulators built into Garageband. Best mellotron app i’ve found; i just wish there were more instrument options to choose from. Show more

An amazing tool for recording and live performances
I’ve been using this for recording and live performance for years now. Incredibly useful and accurate. Thank you!!

    No virtual midi
Poor. core midi only, really? This could be so much more useful with more development

    Very Accurate Sounding
By leaving the tape hiss on every sample and including optional motor and mechanical click sounds, this is hands down the most accurate Mellotron app on iOS. Only slight bummer is that only seven sounds are featured, but they're definitely the most commonly used (3 violins, flute, cello, etc). M3000 has more sounds (both from the start and with in app purchases) but lacks a lot of the character that made the Mellotron an incredibly special instrument (though to be fair, it's still a great app). If I had to choose one, the authenticity of Manetron edges out M3000, but I still use both. Show more

    Warts and all
This app is the best sounding Mellotron I've heard yet. Cool mechanical and tape warble sounds that you can veritably add or subtract give this app a pretty authentic sound. Wish list: more choir racks, midi programmable pitch tone volume knobs. ... but these are minor details. This is a great app Show more

Entire app is out of tune
The sounds themselves are fine until you introduce other instruments and realize the entire app is 9 or 10 cents sharp. I realize it emulates a vintage piece of gear but this is pretty much useless Show more

    A mellotron inside my iPad
This thing sounds like the real deal based on recordings (does an excellent "Watcher of the Skies"!), and looks good too. Also quite simple to use, and responds well to MIDI, allowing me to bring some mellotron into my songs a bit easier than using the on-screen keyboard, which isn't bad itself. It hasn't crashed yet (been using it years now), and the built in reverb and control over motor/tape clicking noises is a very nice touch. An excellent buy for anybody interested in the legendary mellotron! Show more

Love the sound, needs MIDI update
I would love to give this 5 stars, but please give me some control over MIDI. The app only receives OMNI channels, at least make it receive on channel 1 only, or give me some controls. I can't use the app if it receives all channels. Show more

Brings the fabled Mellotron sounds to iOS music makers with stunning results
I was raised by my Dad's music. He was born in 1950, 17 years old when Sgt. Pepper was released, and he turned me on to his vinyl collection as a kid I took to it like most kids do with cartoons. As I grew up, began making music and setting up home recording studios, if there was a sound that I was looking for from those records of the 60's era it could be had fairly easily. Except for the Mellotron. That was its own animal and no flute sound eq'd and slathered with reverb was going to really cop it right. I have heard a few virtual instruments with Mellotron patches but it was not until this app that I really felt "that's it". The 'other' Mellotron app on the App Store is okay, but Manetron just seems to capture that funky hollowness that a real Melllo had. The ability to bring the mechanical noises in is cool and the layout is simple and very authentic. If you dig the sounds of the Mellotron: the flutes, the wavy choirs, the weird and wonderful strings, then you need to get this app. Incredible, the devs should be proud for making this... Show more

    Very Cool!
I'm pleased with where this going. You really can't complain with all the work & feel that's created in this app.

Was a great app, but not working
Doesn't work on my phone anymore (iPhone 6 plus, the one before the 6s Plus). The app closes itself immediately upon launch.

    AUDIOBUS!! Yea!
    AUDIOBUS is working 5 stars!!!
  • Atarizen, 04.12.2014
    Could have been 5 stars...
Sadly, Audiobus is totally broken on this app, due to a conflict between Apple's iOS8+, and Audiobus itself, which makes it quite useless really. It's a pretty old app, so one can't really hope it will be fixed, but one also feels "ripped off", since a defective product has essentially been purchased. Not recommend. Show more

    No iOS 8 support
Used to be great, but audiobus is now broken... Can no longer play with external midi.

    Does Not Work With Audiobus
The main reason I purchased this app was to be able to use it with GarageBand, but the Audiobus will not recognize it. What can I do? I love the sounds! Show more

    Very Cool
MIDI and Audiobus make this app stand out over the other similarly priced Tron apps. Including ambient mechanical sounds! Watching the tapes being pulled is neat, but is more of a visual gimmick, as the sound does not reflect the position of the tape (notes are retriggered from their beginning). Still, a nice app! For an app...
This thing is awesome. I've been having fun experimenting with the app all day and can't wait to try and add tracks to my home recordings! Thank you!

    Keys keep moving while playing
Not bad but really could use more to it. It's icon raises your ambition, then once opened, you see more of the simplicity. A little work needed to meet my preferences. I have another I like much better, to be honest. Show more

    Good sound. Lacks the rest
Great mellotron sound. Still needs core MIDI audiobus...etc...
