Deleted After an Hour of Using
Forget about trying to use this as a serious *Pro* editor. you can sketch out some notes, but anything deeper will give you a migraine. I tried importing files with CCs and PPs and the app didn,t recognize them. Midi clock? Forget about it. Not worth my time trying to get a refund. ? Show more

Does not synth it’s own sound, needs other hw
Was expecting to edit midi files, but it cannot play anything without external HW How do I get my money back?

    Good value, needs midi thru
Definitely one of the best values for a pure and functional midi sequencer on iPad that I've been able to find. The midi parameter automation section seems particularly powerful. I've been trying to use it with a midi keyboard (through camera connector kit) to compose chip tunes for the soundcard of my midi enabled Gameboy color, and it works decently, but would work much better if it allowed for midi thru directly from my keyboard to the gameboy. As it is. I can record in the midi from the keyboard, but I can't hear it on the gameboy until I play it back in the app, so I've been having to use another less capable app for midi thru in the background to able to hear what I'm doing. Also per-channel line in recording for external instruments and a timeline sequencing mode would be awesome. If you add those things this could replace Ableton in my midi composition workflow. Sweet
Super intuitive and comfortable linear timeline midi sequencer with clip launcher that allows you to import and export midi. Here's another request for Link. Awesome app!

Great so far, but needs Ableton Link support
Overall love it, and would definitely recommend. Suggestions to the developer: – add the ability to preview / audition midi files in time with the playing audio - add Ableton Link support - add support for at the very least iPhone 6S Plus as the screen size / processing power of this phone is more than enough to take advantage of the capabilities of this great app. Show more

Updated Review - credit where credit is due
I previously rated this app very poorly because of screwed up quantization and an annoying metronome. Those things still exist but I decided to stop trying to sequence by playing notes on my external keyboard but instead by drawing them manually and I must say that it performed pretty darn well. Also the Sound Recorder is phenomenal, as it automatically records the individual midi parts, which can then be "opened in" Audioshare. For those two things and solid inter-app audio/midi performance I'm giving it 4 stars. Show more

    Pro on the Go
Pro Midi offers depth, power and features typically found in 'professional-grade' DAWs and desktop sequencing environments. It fills a huge gap in my iOS workflow by facilitating control/sequencing of multiple apps/instruments from within a singular, well-designed, intuitive interface. Highly recommended! Show more

    Excellent
I've been looking for a midi sequencer app for those times when I don't have Logic with me or I just want to get some ideas down quickly. This is it. Yes, there's GarageBand, but it's a huge app with all the GarageBand fluff and, truth be told, for painting in midi sequences, this has a better feel and interface. I've never written a review before, that's how much I like Pro Midi. Thanks, Vitaliy. Show more

    Great sequencer
I really like this app. It's not perfect, but it works really well. On my Air 2, I can easily create 5 tracks with SampleTank and DrumStudio. I'm sure I'm not even using it to its full potential. There are a few things that could make it even better, but it's pretty great right now. Show more

    Good One
If you prefer piano roll to fixed grid type sequencers, Pro MIDI is definitely worth checking out. There is of course room for improvement, it would be good to preview (hear) notes placed or moved in the piano roll, or at least when the left column keys are tapped. Show more

    Great but hiccups
Very often patterns skip when cycling through apps sequenced. Would love to see this resolved in an update! Otherwise, fantastic!

    Needs a couple of things
what's the purpose of including scales and chords if the keyboard is still chromatic? I was hoping this would be a sequencer with an integrated scale keyboard that i could use as a central midi hub. Kind of like Korg Gadget but more open and universal. Please work on more composition tools. there are already a million midi recorders out. Show more

I would give it zero stars if I could going to see if I can get a refund.
This app is unfinished not worth more than $1. It claims to give you an ableton live interface. But you cannot trigger scenes from an external controller of any sort. Midi in doesn't really do any thing either so you are stuck with drawing notes or onscreen keyboard. This app shouldn't have been allowed in the App Store. Some features are promised are to be in a future release but not available yet. Well we know how that works it never gets done. And their tech support is completely unresponsive. In short a total ripoff. Show more

    Solid Start Grid Midi Sequencer
You can set up various midi sequences in each of the squares of the grid and play them back by touching them in rows, columns or combinations of squares and you can setup midi routing for each row. The app does a good job of recognizing attached hardware and virtual midi input and output ports. It's so good that you can frequently open and close apps without having to adjust midi settings. It can often handle larger amounts of midi versus Cubasis so it's a nice tool to have. The editing interface works well as you can zoom in copy, move, and delete. It would be nice to have Audiobus support to utilize transport controls. Currently runs nicely in the background. It's nice to be able to record multiple midi sources into one square at the same time including midi cc messages. It can record a lot of midi at once as it handles the output from TC-Data with no problem. Show more

    Great but buggy
Not every synth is recognized by this program. The ones that do work though work great. This is a solid start although I do hope the synth bugs get worked out soon. Also a song mode would be great too. I love the Ableton like interface. Show more

Beautifully designed; in need of just a few fixes/tweaks
Adding another MIDI sequencer wasn't exactly a "need" for me, but I was instantly drawn to the clean, attractive interface of Pro Midi. As it turns out, it's a pretty solid sequencer in terms of editing, creating, and modifying MIDI tracks. The piano roll grid allows for one-touch note adding, and you can lasso multiple notes to move, lengthen, shorten, delete, etc. You can also set up loops, adjust velocity on a grid below, and so on. It's very well-done. The panel on the bottom with the little arrow allows you to designate which app is receiving the MIDI data, and on which channel. I've been having a few problems with it, but it's difficult to say if it's the fault of the app, or just the usual VirtualMIDI weirdness. Pro Midi always recognizes other active MIDI apps, but sometimes fails to produce sound. There is a great pop up keyboard to control those apps (and record live!), but it often seems to not play any sound, even if the programmed notes do play. This app needs a metronome to be a serious MIDI recorder, but I understand he is already working on that. My biggest gripe with it is the lack of note previewing - the piano roll keys on the left y-axis don't do anything, and touching the notes doesn't either. That would be helpful to make this a composition tool. Finally, the app doesn't really have a song mode for arranging patterns, which is a strange omission given the appearance of the interface. And it doesn't have AudioBus (yet), so you can't use the transport controls to stop/start a DAW, but many MIDI apps have this problem. Overall, however, it's one of the better step sequencers already. If you like this one, but want some other alternatives, check out MidiPatterns and Analog midiSequencer. Looking forward to future improvements for this app! Show more
