no clue what is going on but I tried to hear the rest of a serious story to have Jazz music playing over it. Tried again and same thing. :(

So the connection to the app is intermittent and some of it is due to whatever cellular or Wi-Fi area you may be inside. When the app starts up there is an annoyingly long promotion for a station supporter that takes more time than it needs to prior to the broadcast starting. This is the station’s fault, not so much the performance of the app itself, though no app is perfect. Show more

I’m a sustaining member but still have to endure the same messages every time I get on the app (and periodically while listening). But the biggest problem is there’s no support for Siri. I have to manually navigate through my phone instead of just saying “Hey Siri, play KJZZ” to our HomePod. Show more

On average, every two weeks I have to delete this app and reload, because it crashes and refuses to play audio

I use this app to read the news rather than listening to the radio. In the latest version, the stories are very slow to load even on the home screen and the player starts without warning and through the phone speaker even when I have the mute switch enabled. The audio should not be allowed when the mute switch is on. Show more

You cannot see what song is streaming when you’re listening live. Would like to be able to look up songs while they’re playing on the app.

I’m a KJZZ monthly supporter and avid listener. I’d love to use this app often during work/other projects. However. This app pauses randomly when another phone page is opened/scrolled. I’m on iPhone X. I’ll keep trying to listen and see if it continues to happen, and will update my rating if it does not. Show more

I love KJZZ, and NPR in general, and I listen it everyday in my commute to and from work, and at home as well. However starting latest version, this app started to force you to listen about 20 seconds of station identification EVERY time you turn on the app or even from a temporary pause! Once I was listening to an interesting story and accidentally hit the pause button, when I hit the play button again, and 20 seconds later, the most interesting part already gone! I would give it 5-star rating if the stopped doing that! Show more

In Utah they got rid of their jazz program. I use to live in Phoenix and love the jazz program every night to help me go to sleep. I'm glad that with this app I now can get 24 hour of Jazz. The one negative I have so far is that the App stopped working after I updated to iOS 10.3. Hopefully they do a quick patch to this app to fix it. Other than that it wonderful. Show more

I have an iPhone 5 with the latest iOS update. This KJZZ app no longer works. It was okay before.

For some reason this app likes to intermittently disconnect from the stream. I haven't detected any logic to this, though I note it happens a lot just before the top of the hour, and it generally requires closing and reopening the app. And I miss the first two minutes of the hourly newscast. It will sometimes just say "buffering" when it stops, even though I'm on my own WiFi network, or the app will mysteriously change statuses from play to pause. Just pressing play again generally doesn't work. Don't know if the station is purposely kicking off connections that are open to long (server overload issues, maybe?). I like the station, but the app is buggy. Show more

Please update news and more emphasis on readable news content... Not just audio

The app plays for a few seconds then pauses to buffer. I miss about half the programming. It is very frustrating. I don't know if I have erred or if the iPhone 4 I have doesn't support the app Show more

Works just as expected!

Being able to listen to KJZZ when a radio is not available is great. However, of all the streaming apps I use this is the poorest. The signal constantly drops, and won't restart, meaning, I have fish out my phone kill the app to relaunch, which I have to do 3 or 4 times on a 30 minute bus trip. If it were not for the great content provided by NPR I would delete this app. As if to illustrate my point it dropped as I was writing this Show more

EDIT: the app now initializes and runs, a major improvement over previous (see below). My rating is raised from 1 star to 4. But the app doesn't quite deserve 5 stars yet, as there are still some bugs to work out. (For example, when switching from Schedule to News and then back, the bottom menu says Schedule, but the News view persists.) Also, I think a story needs more than two written paragraphs to qualify as a "news" story. But these are fairly minor issues that, again, I'm sure they'll overcome soon. On the whole, I'm much happier with the app's performance now. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I keep getting the message that 'the app cannot be configured from the server', regardless of whether I'm on my employer's firewalled WiFi or 4G. I'm sure they'll get this sorted out quickly, but until then, one star for an app that doesn't work quite yet. Show more

I can listen here on my iPhone, now!

I love being able to steam KJZZ and the 24 hour jazz station. The access to text news is a nice bonus. Only wish it displayed the song and artist information for the jazz station, like you can get on HD Radio. Show more
