Misses most of the notes . Waste of $5

I used Sheet Music Scanner (SMS) on a purchased complex Classical Guitar tune on PDF. I then exported the XML to the Guitar Pro App which I use for editing and guitar practice. SMS did a fantastic job. I only needed to do small edits to about 10 out of the 140 bars. Most of the edits were required because the software missed slap symbols. The music contained numerous tied notes which SMS handled perfectly. SMS did a significantly better job than the better known PlayScore 2 which necessitated me editing 95% of the bars. In fact most of the bars had so many errors that I would have had to manually input all of the notes. SMS is now my go-to music scanner software. It did an outstanding job. It is also sold at a bargain price. Show more

music scanning is still evolving. this app outperforms similar apps costing far more. if the developer keeps updating and adding new features, it will be the best in its field. very useful for hearing back your own compositions and as a practice aid. all music scanner make mistakes, but this is the real deal. ignore a few negative reviews from people that have unrealistic and unknowledgeable expectations about what music scanners are currently capable of. and for the price, this app is a steal. For five bucks, this app is hard to beat. It’s more accurate than software that costs ten times as much, and it’s super user friendly. Is too bad you can’t edit the music (move any improperly detected notes, add ones that were missed due to print quality) but at this price I can’t complain. Great for assisting with learning music. I bought this app as I wanted to make sure I was playing this piece right for my jazz band. It got almost every note wrong, completely ignored rests and the tempo was all over the place. Unless someone can help me fix it, I’d like my five dollars back. Show more

I just needed something simple to practice to. I auditioned all kinds of desktop software - one even over $400. None worked as well as quickly as this app. I only wish I could get my time back from the trying out the other apps. Show more

Could you add drum set notation reading please! That would be so great!

I bought a meditation book that has sheet music inside of it. I was able to photograph the pages and hear the songs within minutes of opening the app. A wonderful, wonderful purchase! Show more

i am a trumpet player in wind ensembles and jazz bands, i got this to help me with my new jazz pieces with syncopated rhythms and weird articulation, when i used it it did not swing nor do ANY ARTICULATION. It was all straight flat notes completely ignoring sticatto, accents, and what not. DO NOT BUY SCAMS. (If you refund my money i will take down this review) Show more

I had the music imported from online and it is missing the notes and was a waste of $5

It skips notes, reads rhythms wrong, reads the bar lines as chords, thinks that the time sig are notes and etc. Do what you want but I advise your don’t buy this app. Show more

I’m a music teacher who is constantly coming into possession of old/obscure sheet music, many of which have no online records of their existence. The only way for me to hear how they’re supposed to sound is by tediously transcribing them into a music notation software. I was hoping that this app would be able to reduce that time and let me hear it straight away, and to say I was disappointed was an understatement. Let’s get one thing out of the way. All the music I inputted was scanned beforehand, so legibility issues were not the problem. The problem is that the app doesn’t know how to read what it’s given. Timing was god-awful, notes were completely passed on, and it can’t distinguish between separate lines and voices to save its life. When I tried to put in a clarinet/piano duet, it sounded awful. Because there’s no way to tell the app that it was not looking at a piano piece with three staves, and therefore no way to transpose the clarinet properly. And even if it COULD distinguish, transposing only affects the whole piece, not the individual instruments, so don’t even try imputing an orchestra/concert band piece into here. If you’re an instrumentalist who just wants to hear what your own part sounds like, maybe this app will work better for you. But even still, I’m not so sure if the price makes it worth it. Definitely not an app I would recommend. Guess that’s 5 dollars down the drain…and on a teacher’s salary no less! Show more

I love this app and it is extremely helpful. It allows me to offer part support for rehearsals without being stuck behind the piano all the time. The only issues I have found are the occasional misread of rhythm( it will play two notes in succession instead of together) when two parts are a second apart (interval) and it does not seem to recognize triplets correctly from photos. If the triplet issue could be resolved, it would be five stars from me! Show more
