    Problem in Design
    2 stars because when the app works, it seems good, but because an Auralic Aries is completely unusable without this app. And, like today, when the app has refused to connect to my Aries G2.1 from my iPhone ios 16.1….its dead. There is absolutely nothing you can do. Zero. Basically, a very very expensive piece of audio gear is 100% dependent on the code quality of this app alone. That’s a pretty big flaw. If the app fails because of an ios upgrade, etc your audio system is useless. FUN. Show more

    Solid App now
    When I first downloaded Lightning a few years ago, it was pretty buggy, but it has really matured into a stable platform.

    Lightning DS
    The app used to be good but recently it has been throwing errors “unable to play selected track” then stops working. I’ve rebooted all my devices, reinstalled the app and still haven’t been able to get it working properly. Show more

    Frequent crashes
    App is frequently crashes on my 2 different iPhones. Not sure is it’s recent iOS upgrade. Please fix it . Otherwise app is great.

    iPad version doesn’t work
    Now the iPad version doesn’t work but the iPhone version does. It very weird it can’t find my lightning device but it’s easily found on my iPhone. Doesn’t make sense Show more

    Fix the Disconnecting issues
    Please fix the app and make the streamers (ALTAIR G1) more stable, we paid a lot of money to have a trouble free experience and instead we are frustrated with the constant disconnect and cannot find device, the streamer is connected to the internet and playing music but my iPhone and iPad can’t find it and connect to it, or sometimes it connects but disappears after a few minutes or sometimes a few hours, your reputation will suffer if customers are not satisfied with their purchase so listen to your customers and fix the issues.     Great potential with poor implementation
    When the app works it is great. It is prone to crash.When it works: it may not populate the total music library;Tidal login is inconsistent with no support on how to correct it; with multiple emails to Auralic for support and inconsistent responses which come too late and after they have fixed the problem.The Auralic G2 is one of the best streamers and a great value.I would invest in the whole system with clock etc,if the implementation was reliable, unfortunately it is not.     Unpredictable. Crashes often.
    You would think the developer of this app would stay on top of ensuring that it will work reliably. Guaranteed to crash.

    iPad App won’t connect to Aries Mini
    I have used the Lightning DS iPad app since 2016. Worked just fine. However recently it stopped working as it did before. After many attempts to remedy by rebooting iPad, Airies Mini and router, I finally resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Now the app cannot find the device. It does connect to its built in hotspot, but then fails to find the device. It appears there is a bug in the app, because upon failure to find the device the app instructions are to push the exit button on the remote. The Aries Mini does not have a remote. This was reported to Auralic. I was told to contact the online community. Do they know how to fix this bug? Doubtful. The app needs an update. By the way, the iPhone Lightning DS app continues to work properly, so it’s obviously not a hardware issue. Really poor support compared to Bluesound. Show more

    How can they possibly ship this horrible app?
    Before iOS13 all was well. But now the app crashes consistently. It crashes connecting to a DLNA server, it crashes updating album cover from a music folder connected directly to the USB port, it crashes playing internet radio, in short, this is a pointless and utterly useless app. I emailed their tech support and their solution was, seek support on Auralic user forums. I offered their tech support that I’ll send them crash logs and reproducible test cases, but they were not interested. Everyone that I know of and owns Auralic devices been running into the same app issues as I have. However their tech support seems to think there are no issues or problems. So now I’ve a hw that I spent nearly 4K for it, sitting on a shelf, being useless since they’re refusing to acknowledge and fix their software issues. Show more

    Terrible Software
    Constantly crashes cannot connect reliably to Auralic Hardware. Very sorry for the 4 figures I spent on their hardware.

    Great App as it Serves its Purpose
    In my opinion, Lightning DS is a great app from an audio company that actually listens to its users. Every time I contacted Auralic with questions/issues/suggestions. I was always cordially greeted back by the company’s CEO who is always making an effort to improve the application. For example, I pointed out that the Tidal desktop app displayed a small “M” on the album covers that were offered in Masters/MQA format, and that it would be a nice touch doing the same on the Lightning DS’ Tidal interface. Auralic listened and did just that! On their next update, they added “MQA” at the bottom of the Tidal albums that offered the format. That feature alone made me want to use the app more! The WiFi connection also improved greatly! I think Auralic nails is with the Lightning DS, when it could simply just tell users to pay $500 for a Roon license. Even then, I would still invest in their great products. Show more

    Awesome App
    I just purchased an Aries Mini to replace an Apple TV for streaming music, and it has been a huge difference. The setup through the app was a breeze. If you're an audiophile or just like great sounding music, buy the Aries, and download the app. If you use Tidal, it has Tidal built into the app. For the money, it is just such a great purchase. Very happy. Five stars all the way. Show more

    Love that you guys developed the iPhone app. Much more convenient than the iPad app as I always have my phone on me.
