It relies on the microphone to recognize audio, which makes it pretty useless on macos if you use headphones.

Nice app but when will it stop keeping my microphone turned ON ? I have to quit the app ever time I use it just to turn off the microphone.

How does one give permissions for Shazam to use the microphone on MacOS Monterey? The app offers no suggestions or help. Also, for me, the app shows up in the 'notched' area of my M1 Mac. Unable to activate the program from there, so I must go through the Launch Pad each time. When the app is activated (displayed), all it says is: "Microphone Off...Please allow access in System Preferences." Show more

Works, but distorts sound coming from my headphones making it annoying to use.

I use to love having the Shazam app ready on startup on my macbook. The icon sat quietly on the top menu on my desktop ready to use when needed. But the latest update now has the app open up and the window annoyingly take up desktop space for no reason. Why did they do this!?!? I had to uncheck startup usage because the new update made the application frustrating to use on startup. Fix this!!!!! Show more

As near as I can tell, there's no way to actually login to an existing Shazam account and synchronize with existing shazam libraries. This makes even LESS since since Apple bought Shazam and force-mushed it into Apply Musics. I don't understand the point of this app at all. It's absolutely ridiculous. It never actually requests microphone permissions so it's impossible to use.

Just downloaded this app, and doesn't work what so ever on here. I ensured the mic and system was functioning properly before writing this, please update app.

When it’s running it works fine but it crashes a LOT. Why does even the most popular song take over a minute to ID? It might be time for a re-write

there is no way to transfer or sync your shazam library on macos to iclous or other devices. this is an inconvenient.

It is insane how many of the songs i would like to know arent in their database. Those its mostly obscure stuff, so that's what saves it from a one star rating. I wish they would add classic themes to old cartoons and anime score. Show more

The icon design itself does not go along with the newer Mac icons

This is an app developed by Apple and not optimized for Apple Silicon Macs even after they have been out for over a year. Why?

Turning on auto shazam gives no results but if you switch to normal shazam it instantly recognizes the song

Title says it all. This app couln't identify ANY song

Shazam, supposedly an Apple-friendly app, can fail to request microphone access and is consequently useless, as it's not possible in the Mac OS to manually add to the System Preferences. The problem? Not only does the icon get hidden behind the notch on the new MBP laptops if you've more than even a small number of add-ons here, but when you attempt to open the app, it fails to request microphone access. And the system-level scaling feature to workaround the notch doesn't seem to work. Not sure if this is more for the developer or for Apple to deal with but it is highly problematic. What you have to do is close out of everything else with menubar items to bring the Shazam icon into the picture, and then click on it, and only then will it even request microphone access in System Preferences. It doesn't work in mac and can't recognize

If you have the shazam menu item running, it gets activated whenever you put your AirPods in your ear. Confusing AirPods switching, and screwing with the Mac's sound input/output.

It requires me to use Rosetta to use Shazam.
