    Fantastic!
Incredible sounding app! Very versatile. Especially superb for metallic, resonating bell, gong type textures. Big thanks to the developer for keeping up this and the other apps??

    A constant favorite iOS synth
I have had a continual appreciation for the sound of this synthesizer, over the few years it has been out. One the best things about iOS is being able to have a collection of different types of synthesizers, and this one is unique and simple, and is a musical interpretation of physical modeling synthesis. I like and use Mersenne as well, and consider them to be part of a set, but if you are starting out, Laplace is the one. The sound is something interesting to me, as kind of a missing addendum to late 80’s, early 90’s synthesis, post analog, before sampling took over, from FM and wavetable. Show more

    Love this app
Fantastic take on physical modeling and basic FM. I could see amazing potential if more FM operators were added. Great synth for experimentation and generating really interesting patches that are unobtainable in a typical subtractive synth. Question: what is the difference between the Resonator types A and B? Could you give us a better description of the Resonator Strength and Color controls in addition to being an APF? Thanks for a really interesting product! Show more

Capable of serious noise / drone experiments
Don’t let the presets fool you, this synth can sound like the jaws of hell if set it right, can’t wait to hear it on a big soundsystem.

    Nice!
Very nice resonator synth. Great interface. Cool arp. Crappy presets and so-so reverb. I use it with Audiobus and AD 480 reverb and this puppy sings!

    it works beautiful. Try it!

    Very Good Specialty Synth
Synth fans may at first be surprised at the lack of access "under the hood" to the deeper features of this synth. What is then surprising is how much variation can be dialed in with the controls provided. It has a unique, if somewhat thin voice and can provide many struck string, percussive, and blown sounds. It is a companion to Mersenne, which is similar sounding but based on percussive sounds. Show more

Your ability to create new sounds unlike the factory set provided.
I love this app as well as all the apps created by this developer. Basically, the factory presets are just bad, but that can be a good thing. The first thing I look at before purchasing a synthesizer is can I create and store my original presets. On this inexpensive synth you can. It tests your ability to not have a ton of LFOs, Oscillators, Envelopes and it does make the sounds that are specified in the information paragraph easy. I like to take a synth known for some specific sounds and move as far as I can away from them. In one hour I had a half a dozen presets that were completely different from the factory set. If you want to challenge yourself, for $4.00, this synth is a great test for your creativity. 4 stars because no Bluetooth, other than that a lot to work at. Show more

    User-friendly; unique sounds
The single screen makes for a compact app that's easy to tweak and shouldn't be daunting for beginner patch designers. Laplace and Lorentz are both affordable, usable, and bug-free. Neither is an iOS staple, but both could be a good entryway into learning the concepts of synthesis. Laplace is a bit more of a niche tool than Lorentz, but I coaxed much more unique and memorable sounds out of this. Like others have said, the presets don't do Laplace any justice. Just for the record (it can do more), if you want to sound like Kate Bush in her heyday with minimal fuss, definitely get this. Show more

    Wow
This is a great synth but you can't go buy just the presets. I had to start digging into them and making adjustments before I found the real magic in this synthesizer. And it is magic. The arpeggiator it is one of the best and combined with the sounds that are possible inspires some pretty amazing creativity. This one has my recommendation. Show more

    Has potential
Sounds a bit thin on its own. The thing that really bothers me about this app is the fact there is no global tuning.

The patches don't do this synth justice
The patches are pretty boring and don't sit well with my music but the sound engine is amazing. The FM is very useful and I'm getting some really brutal cutting sounds out of this. If they got some different sounds designers to contribute patches, I think the potential of this synth would be very quickly seen. Great work! Glad I took the chance and bought it. Their other synth was my go to for a long time, so I knew this one had to be good. Show more

Not wonderful - not bad either
I was expecting something like what you'd find in NI's Reaktor 5 ... Disappointing - but not "horrible" nice UI tho ... Maybe with some updates this can be as mesmerizing as some of Reaktors physical models of resonators Show more

    It's satisfactory
I like Cassini better. I'm not sure if I am a fan of this type of synthesis. I can't fault the app for this so I'm not going to. Right now this is a ? for me. Show more

    Its Own Sonic Character
This one IS different, in how it works, and how it sounds. Just start the arp, change chords occasionally, and tweak tweak tweak all the knobs everywhere. Get ready for a long and fruitful journey. Show more

    Unexpectedly versatile
I love physical modeling synthesis!! Laplace (pronounced: la-PLAHZ) is terrific. The design is very clever and effective. It is both easy to get started and relatively easy to get a HUGE range of sounds from breathy flutes, mellow bowed sounds, to brass ensembles. It is pretty intuitive once you figure out the 3 different mixer knobs— those help you hear what each little element is doing. I wish the reverb was a little nicer. I also wish there were a couple more parameters that could be controlled by velocity. Notwithstanding, this is a unique and delicious synth!! Kudos to iceWorks!!! Show more

    Exceeded my expectations
Not many synths in the iOS market can reproduce a wide range of natural sounds. Some of the better FM style synths can give good glass or metallic textures but for a long time that has been the limit. For a long time I have been falling back on the Sculpture Modeling Synth from Logic if i wanted a well-wrought wood or nylon synth sound and not just some sampled instrument. No more. I have grown quite comfortable wrapped up in a patchwork quilt of apps and get cranky when I have to use the computer for anything other than recording and mastering. Thank you, Laplace. And please don't introduce any IAPs in the future. If Korg cannot do this tastefully then no one can. Show more
