    Fixed
Thank you for fixing the app! After 3 years with no updates, I didn’t have much hope it would be fixed, but it is once again loading as an AUv3.

One of the best sounding synths on my iPad
Phase Distortion synths rock for EBM. Phase84 is a bit old but still sounds as good as newer similar synths like Shockwave. I really hope Retronyms updates this soon as I’m scared of updating to the latest iOS. Show more

    Background static with iMPC2
I’m trying to load sounds with Phase 84 onto the pads on iMPC2. There is a a lot of background static that comes with the Phase 84 app when I’m sampling from both my MIDI controller and from within the app. Other than that, this app could be great! Show more

    Not working since ioS13.
Sounds are heavily cracking and popping. Only recordings prior to ios13 still sound good. Anyone else having this issue?

    Weak App
App crashed within 2 minutes while I tried to change semi tones on a iPhone X. Lame, gave it another try and same thing. Not worth the money.

    Not for hip hop
The sounds are too harsh for most forms of rap and hip hop. Maybe a lil bit of trap but mostly EDM presets. Most of the sounds are too quiet when not using headphones and all the sounds almost sound the same. Would not recommend. I feel like I wasted $10. Show more

    Abandoned ware?
No updates of feature updates (like adding key latching)in three years. I was mistaken thinking that Retronyms was better than that. Write them off as an iOS developer.

    nice potential, frustrating bugs
So this can make some great sounds, and phase distortion + fm + filter is extremely powerful yet retro, but the bugs are painful. Can't open in tabletop. Sustain pedal doesn't work. The user interface is also confusing and kind of a pain to use. Retronyms continues to disappoint - no audiobus? To whoever said 'presets are uninspiring' I would suggest that you can get some great sounds out of it if you understand the underlying phase distortion + fm + subtractive synthesis engine. It is a nice digital synth that can produce anything from metallic tones to glassy to wooden to warm analog-ish to cold to fuzzy to percussive, but its main feature is channeling Casio's phase distortion synths (though with fewer envelope stages.) Take or leave it
Presets are uninspiring , Almost boring in todays market ..Synth lacks punch in a mix

Phase 84 is excellent - at a silly low price.
The sounds are great, easy to use and this is the best synth I have downloaded. I use it in iMPC pro and alongside all the other Metonyms apps - it works without fail. I have had no problems with the app cutting out. A must get for any travelling musician. Show more

    Good could be great
Love the sounds you can make but after a few minutes of tweaking the audio cuts out and I have to turn my iPad off and on to bring it back. All the changes I've made to a given sound are lost. Show more

Excellent synth with a slightly different flavor
There's a lot of criticism of Retronyms apps for some of their marketing tactics and resistance of implementing AudioBus connectivity in their apps. (Retronyms instead provides IAA support and steers you towards Tabletop, their own free but also very problematic ecosystem for housing music apps). But I actually find Phase84 to be a very nice and somewhat unique synth, especially if they continue to offer it at 4.99. Phase84 has an "FM Synth" flavor to it, but they introduce phase distortion for some gritty sounds. There's a decent wealth of presets and they are well sorted - ranging from basses to leads and stabs. The control parameters for the synth are laid out almost entirely on a single screen, which is nice. Plus, as others have noted, there are plenty of workarounds for using the synth via AudioBus (by way of AudioShare or AUM), or just recording the synth using IAA, which is pretty widely implemented nowadays. Creative Workflow
I own most of the top rated synths for iPad and this Phase84 is fantastic. A+ for Ease of Programming/workflow. A+ for Sound. Great for beginner & advanced sound designers. Buy it if you are hesitating. Now...well...what are you waiting for. Do it!!! Show more

    Fantastic synth and awesome support
The synth itself sounds great - you can clearly see that from the reviews. What really makes it awesome is the support! Retronyms was extremely quick to reply to an issue I had, and had already prepared and submitted a fix. After the fix was published they even followed up with an email to let me know. Great service and great sounding addition to my sonic toolbox! Show more

    The best synth from Retronyms
This is an incredible synth. That has finally given me hope for Retronyms as maker of synths for the iPad. It is fat ,really well thought out and has true phase distortion type sound as well as big basses and killer pads that morph AND cut through and sit well in a mix. Wow! Plus the modulation matrix is really fun to experiment with!incredible! Peace Christo Show more

    Best bass
Wow this synth has awesome bass. I picked twelve or so favorites and made my first bassline phrase in Tabletop, then switched the Phrase84 bass to the other favorites to make a few more bassline. Audiocopied the bassline phrase into a melody on Cubasis and here's the sample: Please check out "Cruising Phase84" on Soundcloud. Show more
